I met Giovanni in May, 2005 when he was here in the US on a tourist visa visiting some mutual friends. We instantly connected and although we thought it was a little crazy, we decided to start a relationship even though we knew we'd be REALLY far apart. We've been fortunate enough to not go more than 6 months without seeing one another, whether he's been able to visit me or I've had the opportunity to go see him. I've been to El Salvador 7 times now and it was on my visit in November, 2006 that Giovanni took me to the pier at La Libertad and proposed to me under a picture-perfect sunset.
