Our Story
I met my fiancé online in 2006. We met 3 months later in Brazil. WE got engaged a few months later and on March 2007 we started the K1 process.
And this is our process timeline:
I-129F package sent : first week of March/2007
Vermont SC received:
NOAction received: March/16/2007
NoAproval received: March/26/2007
Case sent to NVC - Rio Consulate receives and processes the case and sends me the paclage: aprox. 3 weeks
I waited several months to send the package so as having the visa granted it would still be valid by december (when we got married regiliously in Brazil)
K1 package sent: Aug/21/2007
Consulate schedules interview: 3 weeks after package was sent
Medical Exame: Oct/01/2007
Visa Interview at Consulate: Oct/02/2007 (5 weeks after package was sent) -- Visa granted!
I traveled to USA: Dec/13/2007
Everything went fine with immigration. I took me about 30-40 min because there was only one officer. They stapled the I-94 on my passport and wrote on it and on my visa page my A # (Alien Number).
Applied Marriage Certificate: Jan/17/2008 (All you need is your passport. They actually print your license and give it for you to take home. You have to wait 3 days and schedule and appointment with the judge of peace by phone.)
We got legally married: Feb/13/2008 (Take the license with you. The ceremony took about 5-10 min. The judge signed kept the original and gave us a certified copy. They original will be sent by mail. He said we will receive it in 2-3 weeks.)
Preparing AOS forms: Feb/2008 (hopefully send in a week, before my I-94 expires)
Applied for Social Security (SSN): Feb/28/2008
SSN Card arrived on the mail: Mar/05/2008
Filed for AOS: Mar/12/2008
Chicago Office received it: Mar/14/2008
Check cashed: Mar/21/2008
Waiting for NOAs
