Thanks, @Lil bear so you you are saying we can select marriage certificate on the SSA application even though on our marriage certificate it only shows her maiden name? Let me also say that the last name she choose is not the same last name as I have exactly. Its our two last names together, this is what we've named our children as well. The DMV told us we had to get eveything updated with the SSA including a new card before we could renew her DL.

Hey All, My wife was naturalized back in October of 2024, at the time they agent asked my wife if she wanted to change her name and she said yes. Just for background, my wife never changed her name when we got married and since then she wanted to so she took this opportunity. The whole day was exciting, but now we are dealing with this name change issue and getting a driver's license. What happened was that my wife's driver's license expired on October 1st, and because she didn't have her appointment until the week after, we had to let it expire. Fast-forward and we've been trying for a month to log on to her SSA account with no luck. It wants her to validate her identity with ID.Me, but every time we go through the process, it just says we cannot validate your ID but never gives you another option. A friend of ours who was naturalized about two months before my wife, told us that she changed her name too and she just walked into the local SSA office without an appointment and got what she needed to get done. Since the online method wasn't working, we decided to try this that week, well not to my surprise we got there, there was a room full of people waiting and they had giant signs that said you cannot see someone if you don't schedule an appointment you cannot see someone. The security guard was kind enough to tell us that we had to go online to www.ssa.gov/ssn-app and fill out the application. Well the issue is that they asked in the application what documentation do you have proving your name change. They list : 1. Court Order 2. Amended Birth Cert 3. Marriage Cert and there is no other option or option to select a naturalization certificate which is what she has. Has anyone had this issue and if they did what did you do? The issue is we have to get the SSA updated card before we can get the DL renewed.

Hi All, My wife's interview date was scheduled a couple months ago, thank God! However, it was then rescheduled out of the blue, she got a notice saying "due to unforeseen circumstances we need to cancel the interview appointment for this applicant" Has anyone else had this happen? The interview we rescheduled for October.

@JKLSemicolon thanks for your feedback. We are basing it off of the status in her MyUSCIS online account. It's good to know and we had know idea about the processing time info on USCIS. It says 7.5 months for our local office, this makes us feel better. -

We file jointly. I did not make enough income that year to be required to file a tax return. -
Approaching 6 Months - No Status Change

Thanks @Crazy Cat as I shared in my post my wife checks the online account everyday. Tampa, FL We have had no change in status of the application since we submitted. No interview as of yet. -
Hello, My wife submitted her N-400 on December 22nd, 2023. She has been checking the status everyday since with no change. We are now approaching the 6 month mark with the online status saying "5 days until decision". We are both getting concerned, has anyone had this happen to them before? Looking at the timeline information on VJ for our office and for online submission the average processing time is 4 months. We even have a friend who went through the process and lives maybe 15 minutes from us and is from the same country who's whole process took four months. We are almost at 6 and there is no new information since the day we submitted. We've also been diligent about checking the mail and making sure we stay on top of any letters that may come and nothing there either. She doesn't understand what couldbe wrong, she has no criminal record, even her one speeding ticket she ever got was probably 8 years ago and no points were added. The two things I could think of is. 1; there was a period of time were we didn't report our addresses when we moved. This was because our daughter was born, was in the ICU and then died at 3 months old and we were both very emotionally distraught and honestly at that time, updating our address with USCIS after moving was the last thing on our mind. She explained this in a supplemental document with her application. 2; She didn't a tax return in 2022 because she didn't make any money. She explained this as well when she submitted her application, she wanted to be up front about everything. In our minds, we don't think that those two minor things would be grounds for denial of a application. Any insight into why maybe going on would be great, we are just so perplexed by this. Thank you!

Hello Everyone, My wife submitted her N-400 on 12/22/2023, she has been monitoring her online account daily since then and nothing so far. However, we just looked here in the immigration time line section and there are applications that were submitted for the same field office that have already had complete their process including interview and oath. Should be concerned by this? Thanks

Hey everyone, So we submitted an N-400 on December 22nd for my wife online, we got a Form I-797C notice of action form in the mail about the biometric appointment being waived. We logged into her USCIS account online and went to the area where it says add a case. It asks you for a USCIS case receipt number along with a OAC (online access code), the Form I-797C has a CODE of N/A. So, we sent a message to USCIS via the contact center and they replied back with " it is not necessary to enter an OAC to view your case information." However, the system requires a OAC and will not let us move forward and view case information. Has anyone experienced this and if so how did you solve it? Thank you!

Hey all, My wife's GC is expiring next year and we are considering the naturalization route, but have a few questions. 1. Looks like time line is 7 months right now, according to this site's processing times section. Does that include the oath ceremony? 2. How long was it for those who have already done the process between your interview and the ceremony? 3.If anyone could provide any advice when going through the process which you wish you would of known before doing it, what would it be? Thanks!

Hey All, My wife's 10 yr GC is up for renewal next year, we tend to go back to her parents each summer and will need the extension letter to travel. Does this letter come in the mail or is it sent digitally? Trying to plan our travel with having to do this renewal process which we cannot start until June of next year as they'll be the 90 day mark. Also how long did it take for those who have gotten this letter to receive it? Thanks!
