  • Our Story
My husband is American and I came from Brazil to the US to become a student athlete. I have been here since 2016, and got my degree in the fall of 2020, around the same time that my husband and I started talking. Got my OPT in August of 2021. Got engaged in May married in July of 2022. We have tried to file for the change of status in the beginning of 2023, but it didn't go through because we submitted the forms 2 days before they got expired. So they sent it back, but we had moved places and we forgot to change addresses for the USCIS mail. We never got any answers from them (so we thought) but when I reached out to them, they told me that they sent the answer to our previous place. That takes us to now! Trying to file again for it, have done things that we did not think about we could've done the first time, but now just finalizing our package, we will be able to send it. Then just pray and wait for it to come back to us with good news!

  1. I am already in the United States, and we are filing the I-130, I-130A, I-485, I-864, I-765, and I-131. The idea is to send everything at the same time because we could get a chance to have everything processed quicker than waiting to file one at a time.
  2. Hello, So as the title describes, my husband just switched jobs and he is making more money than he was before. He is American and will be the only one sponsoring me. For this form, there is nothing on the instructions saying that I need to add his past job, but I know that on the form I-130 has to have that info. He will start working at his new job in less than a week. We are planning on sending the paperwork next week. What should I do? Include the info about him switching jobs on the I-864 or just leave that information on the I-130? Thank you in advance!
  3. Hello,

Can someone please help me to go to the right direction?

I am filing the following forms: I-130, I-130a, I-131, I-485, I-765, and I-864. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas, and I was looking for a direct filing address to be able to send these forms to. But, when I was looking I came across this address that is only for Texas: \

    U.S. Postal Service (USPS):

    USCIS
    Attn: AOS
    P.O. Box 650288
    Dallas, TX 75265-0288

    FedEx, UPS, and DHL deliveries:

    USCIS
    Attn: AOS (Box 650288)
    2501 S. State Hwy. 121 Business
    Suite 400
    Lewisville, TX 75067-8003

I also, have a friend that lives here in the same city, but when she sent her documents, she sent them to the Chicago address. I know that the website tells me to send to the Dallas address, but I just don't want to send there and wait longer than I need to, if that makes any sense.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hope to hear something soon!

You've posted this on your profile so not many people will see it - I'd suggest you start a new thread in the relevant forum and the good folks there will be able to help you. Good luck.

Thank you so much for answering this I REALLY needed it!

  4. Hello everyone, I am new here and as the title says I am applying for both of these forms and 2 more (I-130 and I-864). I came to the US with a student visa and after I graduated I filed for the Optional Practical Training (OPT) and I was able to work in the US for a year. My OPT has expired and I need to file the I-765 again to be able to work legally, now that I am married. So, I am thinking if I should renew my permission or if I should make a new one. I believe I should apply for a new one because I need to get a job and not just to get another OPT. I would really appreciate a feedback! Thank you in advance!
