  1. the co sponsor is responsible, financially for you for 10 years, or until you become a US citizen, if you decide to. there is no getting away or ‘signing’ that away. That’s the legal position.
  2. I had a couple of different tetanus jabs growing up as I seemed to have a habit of falling out of trees and/or scraping myself on nails climbing things!! However nothing since being in my late teens (was 45 when I did visa medical) CDC (and most heath providers) say you should have one every 10 yrs so if you’ve not had one in that window, you’ll need another. tbh out of all of them needed, this was the one I had least issue with/could see the benefit of. Maybe I’m secretly still longing to go climb a tree again…
  3. I went through London and these were the ones I had to get (I had a blood test for chicken pox which I’d had as a kid) so didn't need that one.
  4. What do you think they need?! They want your SSN, ID like a passport and proof of address (which is often the hardest to prove) from a recognised source (rent contract, other financial institution etc). that’s all they want. They don’t care or even want anything from your previous accounts etc
  5. correct - your credit history from home doesn’t count in US so it’s like you’re a brand new person. does your partner have a credit card? It’s super easy to be added as an authorised user if so and you’ll gain credit score and build yours up much quicker (assuming your partner’s score is good)
  6. once you enter on K1, you are there until it’s all completed. It’s one reason why the cr1/ir1 is often a much better option for almost everyone. You can literally leave the next hour after entering with it, if you so choose and it’s still all fine. Gives you much more flexibility.
  7. hi 5 feels tight but is certainly possible. Ultimately it’s down to VM to turn the docs around etc so if they think they can in that, they should know. I left a lot more than that but I had to get a couple of shots done after my medical before they sent mine across and it only took them a few days once I’d submitted the proofs. remember this though too. Worst case they’re not processed in time, this doesn’t stop the embassy doing the interview. They just complete your bit and wait for the docs then issue the visa. So either way it's not a major issue. i wouldn't worry
  8. exactly same for me. Created in word, saved as PDF. Did about 6 slides and around 4-5 pics on each. No issues at all
  9. you got this! It’s a pain in the ### right now for sure but we’ve all done it and got to the other side. You can too keep positive
  10. that’s fine. All those types of credit card are issued by banks. Not the airline. As you say, that’s a Bank of America credit card so perfect to use
  11. how big is the age gap? What someone thinks is large might not to another
  12. I presume he has a credit card or two as well? Def get added as a second/authorised user. That will give you some strong paperwork if needed but CRUCIALLY it also helps with getting your credit score set up which you need in the US, even more than in the U.K. None of your uk credit history transfers to US so it’s like you’ve just been born! Def look at that for multiple reasons.
  13. mine was pretty quick (although it was 18 months ago when I did it) applied 18 april Received SAR on 10th may received certificate 12th may
  14. Which state are you in? Most (40 or so) require a SSN to apply for your DL but not all.
  15. you missed off ‘outgoing’ too. They look especially favourably on that…
  16. without getting too political, Trump has said many things he then never followed through with!
  17. you don’t! speeding tickets don’t have to be declared. I have several over the years, didn’t mention them and I have my green card without issue.
  18. as others have said, no impact, but don’t forget the winner doesn’t become president for over 2 months after the election anyway (Jan 20th 2025) so well after you’d enter the country it sounds like.
  19. hi just to point out you absolutely can get married on a tourist visit (ESTA) and many people on here, including me did exactly that. you just have to come home after your tourist visit and then file the proper paperwork to start the process to move
  20. it is almost the best thing you can buy!!! not only does it make entry WAY quicker and easier but you also get TSA pre check so security at the other side for departures is much quicker too. The best money I’ve ever spent!!! just remember you need an interview for global entry so you’ll need to factor that time/location into the mix too. But get it. Please. It’s superb!
  21. 751 is to convert a temporary 2 yr green card into a ten yr one (remove conditions on it). If he has a ten yr one anyway there were no conditions to remove. You are fine
  22. My situation was EXACTLY like that! I got my card about 3 wks later though so not too bad
  23. just to add the visa and medical are linked so if you don’t enter within the 6 months of your current medical, you might need to reapply for visa as well to be reissued
  24. if you enter in January you have 90 days from that. Not when the medical is. You can arrive 179 days after the medical and you have 90 days to marry or you can enter 1 day (in theory) after the medical and you still have 90 days to marry. It will be the exact same and you have 90 days from that point. The medical becomes irrelevant once you step on US soil
