I've been silently following this site for a while and am now in need of some guidance. Here's a breakdown of my situation:
Issue: Due to an error by our marriage officiant, the marriage date registered in my country differs from the actual date of the ceremony by one day. For instance, if we were married on 09-18-23, the official document states 09-19-23.
Attempts to Correct: I've made multiple visits to the relevant department in my country and consulted with lawyers. Each time, the general consensus seems to be that I should proceed with my I-130 application despite the discrepancy. The difficulty is that all of my supporting evidence aligns with the actual date of the marriage.
Challenges: Correcting this error in my country has proven challenging. Officials don't understand why a one-day discrepancy is significant and are thus hesitant to assist. They often dismiss my concerns as trivial.
Given this backdrop, I have a few questions:
Should I submit my application and note the reason for the discrepancy?
Could this difference in dates pose problems with USCIS?
Has anyone here faced a similar situation or have any advice on how to handle this?
