  1. Very disappointing since it moved so little last time. Hopefully next month we get better news.
  2. Where did you get the amount of unused family visas for 2023? I didn't think we had that info yet. Even if immigration lawyers made noise, it would be useless as Congress would need change the law and right now they can't agree on anything immigration related.
  3. I see it as a positive because it should mean they have gotten through the Covid backlog, and that means we should start to see more steady movement. It also seems they are being very conservative with moving it forward. We will have a better idea in the coming months.
  4. We have to remember the monthly reports aren't accurate. There's a disclaimer because DR cannot get more visas than legally allowed. WE need to wait for the annual report which should be out soon to get a true idea.:
  5. The interview backlog numbers tell us very little:
  6. August 2023 Visa Issuances has been published. Dominican Republic received 1330 F2B visas for that month.
  7. F1 final action didn't move in the October Bulletin either, and F2B is still a few months ahead, but it is up to you to decide.
  8. The backlog numbers are interesting, but since it is for all categories, it's not super helpful to figure out where we are with F2B.
  9. It's 7% of Total Family Visas not 7% of the F2B. If DR consulate wants to use a good portion of their visas on F2B they can. And they only can if all those applicants have a PD before the final action date. The number of DR visas isn't that strange. if we assume around ~7000 visas should have been give to DR in 2020,2021, 2022 then there is a backlog of around 11,300 people from those three years alone. That number isn't that far off from the number they've received so far this year.
  10. I wanted to point out that Dominican Republic has always had a large portion of F2B. I looked up past few years before Covid and these were their F2B totals: 2019: 8,195 2018: 10,741 2017: 7,734 2016: 6,832 2015: 8,243 So this isn't something new that popped up recently, so theoretically that means DR is not the sole reason for no movement. I wish USCIS published the amount of applicants with PD before the final action date for F2B. That data point would be helpful.
  11. I know, but this has happened before with no movement in October with good movement other months (pre covid era). At some point they have to get through the COVID backlog...whether it's in a few months or in a year - but it will happen.
  12. Depressing news, but that doesn't mean it won't move in the following months.
  13. No worries. Actually the user was just saying they received an interview (not visa), and I am hoping that is a good sign that they are planning on advancing the visa bulletin.
  14. it doesn't matter if you are inside the US or outside the US. Same rules apply for when you get your green card. If you are inside the US, you can apply for EAD and AP once you are eligible to submit AOS - but that's the only difference.
  15. Final action date is still Sept 2015. You have not been skipped. There's just been no movement for 2 years.
  16. Legally USCIS cannot issue more visas to DR if they cross the 7%. These are the limits set by Congress. USCIS can't decide to not enforce these rules. I was listening to the Charlie Oppenheim chat about the latest bulletin, and he thought the fact that F2B did not retrogress for the entire year is good news for forward movement in the next few months. This should mean that they've gotten through most or all of the backlog created by covid. I also saw a post in reddit of an F2B with PD of October 2016 having an interview scheduled.
  17. We'll have a better idea once they publish the last few months visa issuance. Last month that was published was June.
  18. Poster's daughter was doing AOS, so not dealing with NVC. Poster did end up deleting original post after multiple people questioned her story...so maybe she was being untruthful.
  19. Probably, but there are cases (though rare) were USCIS approved greencards when they should not have...only to revoke later or for the issue to come up when person tries to naturalize. https://www.rnlawgroup.com/surprising-twist-i-485-approved-without-a-current-priority-date-what-steps-should-be-taken/
  20. Not the reason in this case. Final Action Date for F2B has never moved to Nov 2016.
  21. Over on r/USCIS on reddit, someone posted that her daughter's green card (F2B) was approved with a PD of November 2016???? I know that's not technically possible as final action date is 9/2015. Either person is mistaken on their PD or the green card was approved when it should not have been.
  22. September Visa Bulletin out...no movement and no retrogression (so small positive). No threat of future retrogression either.
  23. F2B did have a filing action date movement last year. Around July 2022 (which allowed me to file my I485 with a PD of December 2016). I had an RFE for my medical in April and was just approved for my combo card the day my RFe was received. So it looks like they do expect final action date movement (at least I hope so!). While visa issuance is back to pre-pandemic levels, at least for F2B - they haven’t gotten through the backlog caused by it. There’s not much we can do about it besides maybe bring it up to your Congress person or Senator.
  24. I don't see movement until Oct/Nov (at the earliest), but as long as DR is part of ROW then this a good thing! We need them to get through the backlog or final action date will never move.
  25. They still affect the rest of world in terms on total F2B visas issued - but they have a separate PD as needed. So the affect is less.
