  1. I received that same message  at the end of 2023. I thought I had enough income as well but after my husband's interview we were told we needed a joint sponsor. I made over the amount requested. They were mostly concerned with 2022 taxes. My husband's interview was February 2024. This is my experience everyone's is different so it doesn't mean yours will be the same.. But if I had of looked for a joint sponsor early on I would have saved a lot of time.

  2. My spouse recently had his visa interview and I must say we are baffled. I'm the petitioner I made $about $14000 on my part time job from 12/2022 and is still currently employed. I also had $14,900 survivor benefits from my late husband. I even added the value of my home as an asset if the other income was not sufficient. The consular still insist we need a joint sponsor. I really cannot find a joint sponsor. The consular' s office won't give any details I write and ask questions and they never give a straight forward answer. So frustrating.

Information IS available and tracked here by Consulate.  When you ask, include the country in your question.

Thank you. I have searched Visa Journey and other immigration websites about the backlog in Praia, Cape Verde, this is an IR1 DQ'd August 3, 2023. There are only 8 posts for Cabo Verbe but the completed timelines are very old no new information is available.

  4. Thanks everyone for your kind condolences. You know, I must say this, I like to remain neutral because I understand that the backlog is largely due to COVID. But , there is no transparency for different countries. I feel sorry for others that have to wait, but to have people wait with no way to even get information on their case is just inconsiderate of the feelings American citizens . People are here on Visa Journey trying to get any information they can. Is this right considering we have paid money but can't even any get information about your case?  Can the consulates not give an idea of how bad the backlog is for a particular country. Thanks to Visa Journey who is willing try to do the best they can to answers questions.. I commend the administrators who created this website.

  5. Does this mean I'll get an interview or does the c0-sponsor have to be added right away? All documents were accepted, I don't understand.

The income reported as stated on form I-864, I-864A is insufficient to overcome the public charge grounds of inadmissibility for visa issuance. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos and https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. A consular officer will decide if you meet these requirements at the time of the interview. Note: You, as the sponsor, and any other sponsors household members and joint sponsors, must provide updated or additional evidence for the applicant to present at the time of their interview such as: * Other income * Assets * Proof of current employment Note: You submitted documentation to the National Visa Center through the Consular Electronic Application Center CEAC. You can continue to upload documents to CEAC up until the date of your visa interview.
