  1. I received that same message at the end of 2023. I thought I had enough income as well but after my husband's interview we were told we needed a joint sponsor. I made over the amount requested. They were mostly concerned with 2022 taxes. My husband's interview was February 2024. This is my experience everyone's is different so it doesn't mean yours will be the same.. But if I had of looked for a joint sponsor early on I would have saved a lot of time.
  2. So another consular in a different embassy could make a different decision. because I have seen posts and comments where other people with similar circumstances were approved.
  3. I understand that about the joint sponsor problem is I can't find one and it bothers me that my survivor benefits are not being looked at.
  4. I also want to add the consular asked for the joint sponsor, if I found one, to provide 2022 income tax.
  5. Hi, Yes, I still have the job and my survivor benefits will continue because I married after the age of 60. I worked this job and received benefits all of 2023. There are only two in my household, me and my husband.
  6. My spouse recently had his visa interview and I must say we are baffled. I'm the petitioner I made $about $14000 on my part time job from 12/2022 and is still currently employed. I also had $14,900 survivor benefits from my late husband. I even added the value of my home as an asset if the other income was not sufficient. The consular still insist we need a joint sponsor. I really cannot find a joint sponsor. The consular' s office won't give any details I write and ask questions and they never give a straight forward answer. So frustrating.
  7. Thank you. I have searched Visa Journey and other immigration websites about the backlog in Praia, Cape Verde, this is an IR1 DQ'd August 3, 2023. There are only 8 posts for Cabo Verbe but the completed timelines are very old no new information is available.
  8. Thanks everyone for your kind condolences. You know, I must say this, I like to remain neutral because I understand that the backlog is largely due to COVID. But , there is no transparency for different countries. I feel sorry for others that have to wait, but to have people wait with no way to even get information on their case is just inconsiderate of the feelings American citizens . People are here on Visa Journey trying to get any information they can. Is this right considering we have paid money but can't even any get information about your case? Can the consulates not give an idea of how bad the backlog is for a particular country. Thanks to Visa Journey who is willing try to do the best they can to answers questions.. I commend the administrators who created this website.
  9. Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any information on if the death of a mother-in-law is a reason to expedite a visa interview. I am the petitioner and my mother died suddenly this morning . My husband is overseas waiting for a visa interview. I really need him here.
  10. There was a request along with the canned message about funds to upload a death certificate waiting for reply from them after uploading this document
  11. I have exhausted my list of co-sponsors. I have no other options left. It's sad to be married and not be able to be with your spouse.
  12. That does make sense about having another property this is my primary home. I have not seen this before after reading many pages about assets., But if someone wanted to downsize, sell the home, or get an apartment you wouldn't be homeless, but I know the government won't see it that way.
  13. My current income is projected meaning I just started this job in December 2022. But I am about $3000 over the poverty guidelines with that and SSA then there's the home as an asset.
  14. I was just wondering if I don't provide a joint sponsor right now will they hold the case or will they schedule the interview for my husband? Sorry for the confusion. All documents were accepted I used my current income, SSA and my home for an asset. I don't understand why it's considered insufficient funds. Thanks so much for responding.
  15. Does this mean I'll get an interview or does the c0-sponsor have to be added right away? All documents were accepted, I don't understand. The income reported as stated on form I-864, I-864A is insufficient to overcome the public charge grounds of inadmissibility for visa issuance. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos and https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. A consular officer will decide if you meet these requirements at the time of the interview. Note: You, as the sponsor, and any other sponsors household members and joint sponsors, must provide updated or additional evidence for the applicant to present at the time of their interview such as: * Other income * Assets * Proof of current employment Note: You submitted documentation to the National Visa Center through the Consular Electronic Application Center CEAC. You can continue to upload documents to CEAC up until the date of your visa interview.
