  1. In the second paragraph, " " If you have special circumstances that may require you to interview in a country other than your country of nationality, country of residence, or a designated processing post: · Contact the National Visa Center (NVC) through this Public Inquiry Form. · Explain the special circumstances in detail. Traveling to or residing temporarily in a third country in order to apply for a U.S. visa does not constitute a special circumstance. How do we explain the “special circumstances”? If NVC doesn’t accept our explanation, NVC will force us to go to Pakistan? If we interview in Pakistan, security checks will be faster than being in Pakistan or Dubai?
  2. We have our case at Abu Dhabi. got a letter from NVC to move our case to our home country (Pakistan). I still believe we should move to Pakistan, but my wife says that she has her job in Dubai, and if I go to Pakistan, I may lose this job and Dubai's resident visa. Here is the letter: " Applicants living in a country different from their nationality can choose to apply in their country of residence. However, if they interview outside their country of nationality, their visa processing may be delayed. If you would prefer to be interviewed in your country of nationality rather than your country of residence or designated processing post: · Contact the National Visa Center (NVC) through this Public Inquiry Form. · Request to transfer your case to your country of nationality. If you have special circumstances that may require you to interview in a country other than your country of nationality, country of residence, or a designated processing post: · Contact the National Visa Center (NVC) through this Public Inquiry Form. · Explain the special circumstances in detail." If we stay in Dubai, NVC may not accept our explanation and still force us to move. Islamabad is much faster than Abu Dhabi. ISB is working on DQ'd FEB-2025, and Abu Dhabi is working on Jan 2024. Our DQ'd time is Dec 2024. What do you think? Any advice? Thank you!
  3. Nope, I have been doing it for my case for two years, nothing special.
  4. Neither filing jointly nor separately, since he cannot file taxes, there is no filing jointly; he doesn’t have an SS#. The way to do it is to file as head of household; that will make her head of household. She has to pay more taxes, but it will do the “married” part. And yes, she can amend the taxes anytime, even when he arives in the US.
  5. @smilingstone Did you see that tool? It clearly shows Abu Dhabi is more than three years behind, most probably because of a lack of visas. For Islamabad, it is Sep. 24. After posting this question, I thought I would need residency in that country; a visitor visa will not do the trick. Islamabad may be the best option. @JeanneAdil Thank you for the suggestion and great idea. We already have a police report; that was done last December (Dec 2024). Does anyone know what the requirements are to transfer, other than we lost our job and are no longer residents?
  6. My wife's DQ was completed on Dec 12, 2024, and she is waiting for an interview. I looked up the wait time; they are interviewing folks who were DQ'd in November of 2022. Tokyo is in May of 2025. Here is the tool: IV Scheduling Status Tool Is this for real? Nov-22 from UAE and Japan May -25? Should we transfer to Tokyo?
  7. Thank you for your response. This is what I thought, but she wanted to hear from others.
  8. My wife, who lives and works in Dubai, is waiting for an interview. Our DQ was on 12/11/2024. She also applied for a visitor's visa to Canada. She's asking, what if she gets a visa to Canada? Can she move her case (CR1) to Canada? Would that be any faster route? I'm trying to convince her to stay put and wait, especially with what is happening in the USA with the new administration. What are everyone's thoughts on this?
