  1. Can you post a screenshot? Maybe we're on the wrong page or something. Either way, we haven't heard anything yet with interview date or employment authorization.
  2. We got the update that says they are ready to schedule her interview, and they will send a notice, but its been 9 days since then and nothing in the mail. How long did you wait or did you get your interview date online? We just made an account on USCIS but it didn't tell us anything more.
  3. I used assets (cash in bank and stocks) as part of my our application and it went smoothly.
  4. Update: looks like things are moving forward Strangely, the employment authorization application hasn't updated since biometrics were taken, so there is a chance she'll get her green card before the employment authorization? Hope the work authorization application wasn't a waste of money. For reference, for the RFE, I submitted page 5 of that form that was missing number, certified copies of the marriage certificate, visa, and passport copies, along with a letter explaining the situation and our signatures.
  5. I included a copy of the i-129 approval letter, which includes the receipt number, so they do have it. I guess either way my best option is to just submit a bunch of stuff like the receipt number, copy of certificate and stuff like that, proving the marriage and our identities.
  6. We got a letter yesterday giving us our date and time of our biometric appointment, which is in 2 weeks. yes
  7. We used her maiden name on the marriage certificate and her new last name, my last name, on the i-485 form. We included her maiden name on the form under the "other names used" section. Thats all correct right? I followed closely what people on the forums and they guides said. I can't think of anything else that is wrong. I double checked all the dates on the forms and everything. We included a certified copy of the marriage certificate. We have extra copies we can send back. and if anyone asks, we waited to the last minute to get married since we waited to get her SSN first, but it never arrived, so we waited to the last minute to get married. Thought we needed to get the SSN number back first before getting married, but then I read that we didn't.
  8. "Request for initial evidence" We got 2 of them since we have a k2 too. The k2 letter is asking for proof of marriage within 90 days of the k1 applicant.
  9. I don't know what to do. We married on March 17th and had it recorded on March 18th. Here visa says its vaild until the 23rd. We just got a letter saying we did not marry within 90 days. Did we do something wrong? Did they do something wrong? I'm very worried. We submitted a copy of the married certificate with the i-485 form. Did they read the dates wrong?
  10. Wait until you have the visa. It can sometimes take weeks to receive your visa after the interview. Plane ticket prices change regularly. Its entirely possible for plane tickets to actually come down in price by July.
  11. How does worth authorization work into this? Can you legally work with work authorization while also being out of status? Does the work authorization help prove your status/authorized stay in any way?
  12. My credit card still hasn't been charged. When should i start to get worried? I know they received the documents since it had tracking, but I've heard back nothing yet after ~2 weeks. My card doesn't have any declined charges or anything and never declined charges before
  13. A large % of my yearly income is from capital gains, and there was no issues that came up with that.
  14. hopefully a mod can change it. I've been following it a lot but luckily double checking everything.
  15. The fee for I-485 applications includes the cost of the I-131 and I-765 (no need to pay for them if filed with or while your I-485 application is pending adjudication) Is this still accurate? Doesn't appear to be so "If you filed Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, with a fee on or after April 1, 2024, and your Form I-485 is still pending. $260" https://www.uscis.gov/feecalculator?form=i-765
  16. We had no issues with it, but her daughter has no father listed on the birth certificate. You'll have some issue if you want to change your child's name or if the step father wants to adopt your child. That will require permission from the father or required you to convince a judge that the father isn't part of the child's life.
  17. We printed the photos of us meeting in person and also screenshots of us on video call. Included text explaining how we met and time we spent together, and also a plane ticket stub. put it all in a folder and shipped it in an envelope. Its best to include photos that show where you are, such as near a landmark, so its obvious the photo was taken in that country.
  18. So I believe I understand it now. My step daughter 99.99% chance won't be eligible for CHIP/medicare, BUT, to be eligible for the marketplace, she must first be denied by the state for chip/medicare. She is required to be denied from that before she can be part of our family plan. The requirement for kids to join a marketplace plan is to be denied a chip/medicare plan, which she will since she hasn't lived in the country for long enough. It all makes sense to me now, I believe. I just had to piece together all of this.
  19. That would take months, probably. We're still waiting for her SSN (its been 10 or 11 weeks now) and who knows how long work authorization would take. I'm just going to call the healthcare marketplace tomorrow to see if I can get answers since its all really confusing and I probably need very specific help with my specific situation.
  20. eh, wouldn't it mostly be based on my previous year's income? That was $48k. The healthcare thing is based on my estimated 2025 income, which I expect to be lower. Also, looks like CHIP availability in my state is $38k, which is higher than 125% poverty income (household of 3). I'd like a family plan that covers all of us, but current situation looks like it would just cover me and my wife, and we'd need to apply for CHIP for our child? confused by how that all works.
  21. I'm self employed, so no. I was over it in 2024 but I estimated my income will be a little lower this year because of how the economy is doing and that seems to have put me just under 125% poverty for 2025, but I have a lot of money in stocks and CDs. My income is extremely hard to estimate.
