  1. Thank you so much for your kind and helpful comments, unfortunately the only point we could get her back home is in late August but she's looking at slipping right back into her old job so it should hopefully be a plenty smooth transition. Things can get quite dark and worrying along the path and we just gotta keep remembering why we're doing this 😁 Also my fiancee's joint sponsor said he has a lawyer friend who could give us some quick pro bono advice some time so if we need anything desperately, we at least have an avenue for that kind of advice It's all looking up a bit, and thank you for helping us!
  2. Absolutely, so this was pretty much the plan. We were expecting to have about 6 more months based on the timeframe we were quoted and so we weren't exactly ready when the approval arrived. I was wondering if you could help with delaying though; do you have any idea how long i can delay? And how I might go about doing so? We got our approval and my fiancee has received a letter in the mail. From what I've read; I now have to wait on a letter from the Embassy in the UK, before I can book an interview and medical, is that right? Can anyone tell me the window we have to do these things and what our best option to delay it is? She's already looking at getting her job back and we're both fully prepared to get back to it, we just aren't quite sure how long we have 😅 Also, thank you so much for the advice and being constructive; there appears to be a lot of people who'd rather just take the opportunity to point out how incredibly stupid and unprepared we are and I really appreciate your help and understanding. A lot of negativity surrounding this almost made us give up on the whole thing and just cancel our application. My partner actually only files for herself, so this is incredibly good news, and very helpful, thank you. We had come across so much information essentially stating that my fiancee would need to earn enough to support a household of 5; which is an especially daunting undertaking. Otherwise she is booked to go back to the US as soon as possible, and she's already in contact and making sure there'll be employment waiting for her. Hopefully we can delay for long enough that her current income will be enough to cover the, now much more manageable amount. Thank you again for your help. Plane tickets are affordable enough and with our timeframe we'll be alright. My partner owns a car and is living in an owned house, with her working and earning as she has been, along with my savings and living with family, I am fairly confident we'll get by. Though being unemployed for a year does sound terrifying for me personally 😅
  3. Yes, that's fine we know that. It's more that; that may not even have the chance to be an issue if we can't afford to get to that step.
  4. Alright so it seems likely that self-sponsorship is not going to be an option for me. I suppose the final real question I have is, my partner lives with her mother and a couple of sisters, but none of them rely on her financially, they still count as her household, right? And she'd need to prove she can fully support all of them, as well as myself?
  5. So any guidlines anywhere on how much they'd need from me? We have a couple of ideas for Joint Sponsors Would they need to be able to sponsor just my yearly wage amount or the whole household? Sorry for the questions, just this is the first I've heard of slef-sponsorship
  6. Ah right okay, well unfortunately that option is out as my savings are insubstantial and definitely do not meet the yearly wage requirement for a US household 😅
  7. @BoilerGosh I'm sorry, I actually don't know what that means. As in I can use my own income? But I don't have a job lined up in the US yet.
  8. Hey there, First time poster but somewhat deep into the K-1 Visa Journey. So my Fiancee and I just got our approval notice (Woo!) and now I'm just waiting for a letter from the embassy or...NVC I think? Anyway, we didn't know our approval was going to come up so soon, since they told us they'd extended our timeframe by over 6 months. Because of this, my Fiancee decided to come over to spend some time here (since I told her I was giving up my country to be in hers, I wanted her to properly experience mine) so she agreed and booked a 3~ month trip to come and stay with me. She quit her job but they agreed that if she reapplied she'd get through nice and quick to get re-employed. Anyway we got our approval, and now we're in the "Home-Stretch" it feels like but now we have a new worry; Income Requirements! So my Fiancee is currently unemployed, and we'll be in a household of four (five including me). We're not sure how they're gonna feel about my fiancee's income as my sponsor. Her family's earnings (without hers) are at about $30,000/y but obviously we're a little worried as they may not take kindly to the insistence of my partner that she'll be employed the minute she gets back. She has some savings but nothing substantial. What do you guys recommend? Any reassurances? Should we put her back on a plane and delay our interview until she has a job to show earnings for? Should we ride it out on current savings/earnings and not worry too much? Get a joint sponsor from her family that can definitely afford me (this member would be outside the household, so would that then affect the household size we have to account for???)? Its all quite complicated so if anyone has some insight that'd be great! 😁 - Cal y Kali
