October 2023 - AOS Filers
ThailandR replied to mw & rg k1's topic in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports
Today, October 26th, we sent the AOS packet with the I-485, I-864, I-765 and the I-131 by USPS to the Chicago Lockbox. Now it's just time to wait and see how things go. It took almost 2 years to obtain the K1 visa. My wife has no birth certificate so notarized Affidavits of birth were submitted along with a notarized copy of her translated national ID card and a Notarized and translated copy of her house registration/census document for Myanmar. These were the same documents used for her K1 visa, so hopefully no issues here in the states. -
AOS Package has been mailed to the Chicago Lockbox. Sent by certified mail with a return receipt Via USPS. To explain further for your vacation Ideas, I would ask that you look at where a Myanmar National can travel......there are not many places one can go on a Myanmar passport. London is not on the list, nether is Canada, and Mexico, well to explain more....they all require a Visa to be applied for, just like traveling to the US. Not very easy.

That makes sense. Traveling to Myanmar right now makes no sense no matter what the emergency would be. She is an Ethnic Karen, and here people are being killed indiscriminately by the Myanmar/Burmese Junta. Yet it would give an option to travel to Thailand which borders Myanmar to see her family if needed I guess.

Hello to all, My fiancé, now wife, and I were married on October 2nd, 2023 and are in the process of completing the documentation to file the I-485, I-864, and the I-765. The only document missing is the certified copy of the marriage certificate which I can pick-up on October 25th. Checking the fees again just now I see it is a total of $1225 which includes the &85 biometrics fee. However when I look at the I-765 fee it shows a fee of $410.00. I am a little confused as reading through the forums I see that if all documents are filed at the same time there is no fee for the I-765. Can someone confirm that there is no additional fee required. I do not want the package rejected for the incorrect fees being paid. P.S. Are the fees for filing supposed to go up on October 20th? I just saw a report that the fees are proposed to be increased very soon.

Check the USTravelDocs application to see the status of the processing. My Fiancés page was blank after the interview and consulare processing started, but the day after CEAC said issued it changed to show this in the lower right. Still waiting for the delivery. Hol7dats here now for the Kings Birthday and a major Buddhist holiday. Hoping to have the passport back by the end of this week. -

Within 24 hours of the status in CEAC showing issued the USTravelDocs page now shows this: Hopefully within the next 2 or 3 days it will be delivered to us at our house in Thailand. When it is in hand I will then make the flight arrangements. -

POE SeaTac wait time
ThailandR replied to ThailandR's topic in Moving to the US and Your New Life In America
Summer travel I would surmise. Maybe just make the flight to Seattle as we have to collect the bags anyway as the flight to Portland is a domestic flight which will require a new check-in. Maybe stay in Seattle a day or two and show her the Market place and the Space needle. -
The K1 visa for my Fiance has been approved and issued. Trying to book the flight from Thailand to Portland, Oregon which will enter the US through SeaTac in Seattle. What i need to know from someone who has gone through the process at SeaTac is how much time is needed to be processed at The CBP location upon entering the country. Trying to ensure enough time is allotted for a connecting flight to Portland. One flight has a 2 and 1/2 hour layover before the connecting flight another has 3 and 1/2 hours. Can anyone assist us please. I will be flying with her as well.

Thailand is not a country where one can obtain citizenship easily. It takes years, and you must be working and paying taxes for a minimum of 3 years. The migrant workers do not make enough to file or pay taxes, so that removes them from the process. The only other way for a woman is to Marry a Thai man. However, a foreign man marrying a Thai woman can not gain citizenship at all unless working and paying taxes for many years. No such thing as permanent residency here either unless you meet the above requirements. Annual visa extensions and reporting to immigration every 90 days is required. -

How long until the USTravelDocs website is updated and shows the package being mailed out. Also trying to find out now how long the process will take at the POE at SeaTac Airport in Seattle. We will fly from Bangkok to S. Korea then to Seattle where she will enter the US and then need to fly to Portland, Oregon. The flights I am looking at right now have either a Two and a half hour layover in Seattle or a three and a half hour layover before the flight out to Portland. Have you heard of Visas being revoked after issuance? Looking back at the Department of State website the instructions state "Lived in your country of nationality for more than 6 months at any time in your life". So I can see why they asked for the Burmese Police Certificate. It is also found in the K Visa Packet formerly known as Package 3. Bangkok-K-Visa-Instructions-English-June-2022.pdf (usembassy.gov) Civil Documents (state.gov) Here is the section from the link -

When was the interview? The embassy initially told my fiancé she was approved and kept her passport. It was the next Friday when we received an Email saying she was 221G for the Burma Police Certificate. The CEAC status went to Refused from No Status on that day. I am hoping the CEAC status of Approved means we are in the home stretch. Hopefully you get through the 221G processing before the initial 60 days is up. Thinking good thoughts for you and everyone else. Such an anxiety filled process. -

What did your email from USCIS say? If it's stuck at NVC I would notify my congressmen. Check your spam folder as well. Wishing you the best. -
NOVEMBER 2021 I-129F K1 FILERS
ThailandR replied to J&D1008's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
I-129F Filed in October 2021, sent to Lewisville Texas Lockbox as the beneficiary is in Thailand and I am from California. NOA 1 sent on November 1, 2021. Approved by USCIS on January 31, 2023. Yes a very long time. Received an Email that the package was sent to NVC and then to the US Embassy on March 28, 2023. Must have been done electronically as we received an Email the same day with the K-Visa package 3 and 4 instructions. Paid the interview fee and scheduled for June 29, 2023 at the US Embassy Thailand. Medical completed 2 weeks prior to interview. Interview completed on 6/29 and fiancé told approved. Next day received a phone call requesting information of when she mixed to Thailand from Myanmar. Followed by an email on July 7 saying 221G request for Burma Police Certificate. Crazy but she has lived in Thailand since she was 13. Luckily, with the war in Myanmar we were able to get a family member and her Village Chief to write a request for a police certificate for her. (He was given copies of all her required documents) July 9, 2023 the Certificate was obtained and sent by a family friend via courier through the war zone and to us in Thailand. July 13, 2023 had the document from the village chief and the Myanmar Police Certificate translated to English. July 17, 2023 sent by registered EMS to the Embassy IV Unit. July 19, received at Embassy and status in CEAC changed from refused to Application received on July 21. July 25, 2023 CEAC status changed to Approved. Waiting now to see what happens. Hopefully it goes to issued and no other requests are made. Anyone know what it truly means by approved, someone has said it should be issued within 10 days. It has been almost 21 months since the application was received and we started this VIsa Journey. We have been together 4 years. -
Obtaining a Myanmar (Burmese) Police certificate
ThailandR replied to ThailandR's topic in Asia: East and Pacific
@Mike E Thank you for your responses. Makes me feel calmer than I have been in the past few weeks since the interview and the aftermath as written. How does she obtain a SS# before the AOS is completed. She already has a US based phone which I brought back with me in February after a trip to the US to visit family and take care of some PB with my residence. Adding her to my Savings account is the plan as well but then the issue I encounter is obtaining a California ID card for her without a SS#. We have plans already (on hold until she has Visa in hand) for the wedding. As soon as she has the Visa in hand here in Thailand I will book our flights and then also start the preparation of the I-485 documents and the I-864, so that as soon as the ink is wet on the marriage certificate they will be filed. We own our home in Thailand and will need to obviously put it and the vehicles into a closed up status until we can return for a holiday one day after she is processed and the AOS is completed. I know getting ahead of the issues, taking it one day at a time.
