  1. Review of biometrics today in Florida, Orlando, near the airport. I had my ID and the appointment letter, I had filled out the information beforehand. I arrived half an hour earlier, my documents were checked at the entrance and I was allowed into the waiting room. At registration I showed the same documents, then sat with my husband, who was waiting for me. The phone could be used, only the sound was turned off. The line moved quite quickly so we left within an hour. They took a photo of me, fingerprints, and that's it. The letter of invitation was given back to me stamped. The atmosphere is positive and relaxed. The staff is friendly and professional. Good luck!
  2. Hi, I had a J1 visa in 2016 and left the US after the program and visa expired without breaking any rules. I lived and worked in my native country until 2019,( even have a certificate from my place of work stating that I worked in this company from 2004 to 2019). Then I left my home country to work in a third country. Now, filling out the form I 485, I came across this: "if your J status made you subject to the 2-year foreign residence requirement of INA section 212(e), you must submit documentation to show that you complied with the foreign residence requirement", and I was the subjuct to the requirement. Could you tell me what can be the proof of my fulfillment of this rule? Wouldn't the fact that I sometimes traveled to other countries for holidays (1-2 weeks) be recognized as a violation? What documentation (I have the visa photocopy and the I -94 form showing my entries ) do you think I can submit to show that I compliied the requirement? Thank you in advance!
  3. thank you very much, I did not apply for SS card and the only legal document I can use now is my passport which obviously has my old name. I am filling in the I-485 form and they offer to apply for SSN in it, for sure. I have already paid for the medical examination (Form I-693) under the new name, but still - the marriage certificate doesn't say it has been changed, and I feel uncomfortable when in the form they ask about my legal name as no legal proof in hand...
  4. We got married in Florida and thought that after marriage, I would get my husband's last name, and the change of name would be reflected in the marriage certificate. But, as it turned out, only my maiden name and my current last name were indicated in the marriage license. In fact, the marriage certificate does not imply a change of last name, and at the county office we were told that the change of name is done in the social security office. But I am not eligible for SSN, I am only going to apply for adjustment of status and green card. Some online sources state that name changes are automatic in the state of Florida, but we could not find an official source for this information. I now have to file documents with USCIS, and I'm going to indicate my husband's last name as my own, but I'm stopped by the fact that a person with this new name, in fact, does not exist, just as there is no document stating that Person named A has changed her name to name B. could you suggest what to do?
  5. Due to fact, that I have more than one marriages to provide in Form I-485. I am having problem on how to fill the Additional part 14. I wrote about my last marriage first, in the main part, and the previous marriage will go to the additional part. That page is very unclear. What does the Item Number box contain? Some forum members suggest to leave it empty. Then, I have to write all the info about the marriage in the blank lines but there are only 10 blank lines while there are 12 answers to provide. Where to write them? I feel so desperate! Secondly, whose names go to the area I circled? Mine or my ex spouse? Please can someone help me! Thank you!!
