  1. But isn't there an official number? Like the link you gave. - sponsor for 2 household would be around 25k. So if it is 2 person household + my partner, would that make it equivalent to 3 aka 31k?
  2. ok thank you So say my joint sponsor has a wife, but no other dependents. How much would he have to make to sponsor my future wife? $31,07?
  3. Thanks for the link. Sorry, I couldn't find where it says how long they would have to sponsor us for. I do have over 75k in assets right now. Do you still think I need a joint sponsor just in case?
  4. Obviously it isn't ideal but we've heard the CR1 visa could take up to 2 years.
  5. She is already here in the US with me right now visiting. When she entered the US, she had no plans of staying. She has a job back home, lease, and a return ticket.
  6. How long until she can starting working? How long until she can travel back home?
  7. Is there a form that details the responsibilities of a joint sponser? i.e how long they have to be a sponser, how much income they must have etc.
  8. Sorry, what is the I-94? She came here on an ESTA.
  9. Hey guys, So my girlfriend is visiting me (USC) in the U.S right now. We initially wanted to get married, and then have her leave, then do a CR1 Visa to bring her here. But after talking to some people, they said that she could stay after getting married and we could do an Adjustment of Status? I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. 1) Is it legal for her to stay and do the adjustment of status? 2) How early in the process do I have to submit an i-864, affidavit of support? I'm currently unemployed but should be employed soon. 3) I've heard if you're doing the marriage + aos, you should have your marriage after the 90 days (ESTA) expires or something? 4) How long after the marriage would we need to begin the AOS process?
  10. How many months into the CR1 process do they ask for the i-864 in general? I've heard around 12 months Also, if I get a part-time/full-time W2 job, do I need to be working at that job for at least 6 months or something before I submit the i-864? I've seen a few comments on this forum about a 6 months pay stub rule. Are assets/savings considered a legit/sufficient source of financial support? Like if my yearly income was 21k and I needed 25k. That's 4k difference x 3 = 12k. If I had like 50k in my savings/assets, would that be suffice?
  11. Would a 1099 contractor job not be suffice?
  12. I am worried though that me being unemployed since last November would be causal for denial. Does current income matter more than past income? Also, does it matter whether my future job (for i-864 purposes) gives me a W-2 or 1099?
  13. Thank you for your replies. I guess my question was how many months in general into the process do they ask for it. I've heard somewhere like 12 months. How many years tax return is required?
  14. Hey guys, I am an American citizen, and I want to marry my girlfriend from Finland. We have both decided that it would be best for her to move here to live with me. We want to do the CR1 process after we get married to bring her here legally. I understand that I need to file an Affidavit Of Support i-864. But we had a couple of questions. 1. How long into the application process do they generally ask about my finances? 2. I am currently unemployed and have been since last November (I have been receiving unemployment benefits), but I am looking for a job and hope to be employed soon. How long would I have to have been employed before submitting the i-864 in order for me to prove that I can support her? 6 months? Like if I got employed in January 2024, and my yearly income surpasses 125% of the poverty guidelines, and I submit the document in July/August, would that be ok? 3. Also, if my yearly income from said job is part-time and only meets 100% of the poverty guidelines, could I use savings to cover the rest? I think I've read somewhere about having 3x the difference? Thank you
