    Hey guys, My girlfriend is doing an AOS (We have not filed yet, will soon), and she wants her parents to ship her her personal items to the U.S Does anyone know the process of doing this? Do we need to have filed the AOS already? Would this cause issues in the AOS process?

    Would 5-10k be considered large? My extended family wants to congratulate me on my marriage. Me and my partner have combined assets x3 the income difference.

    Is just using assets an automatic denial on the i-864? especially if we are just over the limit.

    But if we get denied due to financial stuff. Can we refile right away with the new one (I'd have a job by then)? And would it take another 9 months or would it be sooner?

    So from the information that I'm getting is that I can file the AOS for my spouse now, and then if she gets denied, she can stay and we can try filing again. Is that correct? Also, even if my current finances fall slightly under the requirements, I can still file now?

    Ok thanks. But for a joint sponsor. Their assets need to be 3x the difference between income and requirements right?

    If she receives Advance Parole, but then AOS is denied and we refile. Could she use the AP to still travel?

    But won't my spouse have to leave the U.S if we get denied the 1st time around? at least temporarily. No I just mean I've read you can use a home as an asset. Like equity. If the house costs 200k, and the sponsor has paid off 100k. The 100k would be an asset. Is that not true?

    Can they use a home as an asset? Say for example, they are paying a mortgage - how would that work?

    I'm curious though. Why can't car be used as an asset? Also, if my family (uncles etc) wanted to give me some money to congratulate me on my marriage, could we use that too?

    What kind of items can you list on your assets? I know car isn't allowed. Also, can we also use my future spouse's savings too?

    hmm what do you mean the requirements in CA terms are miniscule?

    What if I was the primary sponsor with 75k assets, and my joint sponsor made 20k a year. Is that not enough?

    hmm so if I was a sponsor, I could make up for it with assets, but not when I have a joint sponsor?

    So for example, if our joint sponsor only made like 20k a year, but USCIS requires 31k. Could I make up for it with my assets? 31-20 = 11. 11 x 3 = 33. I have more than 75k in assets.

    I'm a USC, possibly thinking of doing a CR1 for my Finnish partner (after we get married). How long does the process take on average these days? From filing to having her be in the U.S with me?

    I understand that. But what would be the bare minimum numbers in this case? Man with only a wife as dependent sponsoring my partner?
