  1. Just curious about the “parole” thing, does it mean that the K1 process gets aborted and one will be in some weird semi-legal status in the US subject to court hearings and deportation?
  2. Why do you think that? Have you heard of them letting people in with fully opened envelopes? I’ve read through this message board and only found about someone being paroled in because someone stole their bag with the envelope. But that of course ruined their K1 process. Also a lot of people with small tears have been let in, according to the posts here.
  3. Thanks for sharing. I’m afraid it’s not as easy as that. CBP will most likely simply deny the entry and turn me away and/or I will have to get it re-sealed at the same embassy (which is halfway across the world from the US). In that case I will lose an expensive flight and more time.
  4. Haha, my bad. I thought every airport security service was called “TSA”. What I meant was of course just “airport security”. Yeah, they may not be able to determine that through the X-ray but they may just want to manually inspect the bag for whatever reason. I just want to be prepared to act the right way should I be forced to show the contents of the envelope. Maybe learn about other people’s experiences.
  5. Yes. I’m coming. But before I get to the US I have to go through 2 airports and their respective security checks.
  6. Hypothetically, after my bag goes through the X-ray machine: “Hey what’s in that envelope? No sealed envelopes are allowed. Show us what’s inside!”
  7. Getting super paranoid about the sealed envelope integrity. I’ve heard that they’ve started to send those documents electronically for those on CR/IR visas and how I wish it was true for the K as well. I’ve seen that some embassies cut off a corner of the envelope for the TSA to see that there are documents inside. Mine is completely uncut. Has anyone of you been forced to open the envelope by the TSA and if so, what did you do?
  8. Thank you for the answers everybody. Definitely made me fell more confident about the endeavor. We’ll see what will go down in a couple of days
  9. The main problem I guess is that the round trip ticket is at least $800 more and that could be a problem for us, especially knowing that some airlines just don’t refund the return ticket. Also Turkish Airlines are known to demand a single booking with one PNR for both legs and AFAIK it’s hard to impossible to convert a one way into a ticket like that after the purchase. So it’s problematic in many ways. There’s a chance that if I’m denied boarding at the gate, the $1000 paid for the ticket will be simply gone due to them claiming it’s my fault I didn’t have the proper travel documents. Another airline - impossible since those all go through the EU or UK where I need a visa even for the transit. Now I’m almost regretting not booking the ticket to Mexico instead where I’m a lawful resident. I showed her your post and she called them… thrice. No one understood the question “Will you board him on a K1 visa without a return ticket” or they pretended to not understand it. They also told her she can’t leave a note to the agent. I wrote to their twitter customer service and they just told me that they don’t have the authority to determine what documents I need to travel anywhere and I should contact the embassy. lol. basically a non-answer. The boarding agents often have their own idea of what one should have.
  10. Hi everyone. Just curious if anyone had an experience like this. I’ll fly with Turkish Airlines in a matter of days and I only have a one-way ticket. They’ve been known to extort their customers to purchase a round trip ticket from them or deny boarding (tourists going to Mexico, I don’t know about K1 visas). Please share
