  1. Chiming in because I went through the medical with very visible scars, mental health hospitalisations and a suicide attempt. You will have to explain the scars if the Doctor sees them when giving you your physical exam. Since they're old and you don't have a recorded history of poor mental health. The best bet would be to go see your GP, explain the situation. They'll be able to see how old the scars are. Ask the GP for a medical letter stating that to their knowledge, your mental health is stable, your history of self harm was at x age and to their knowledge they feel you pose no harm to yourself or others. They'll only write what they feel is accurate and given how the scars will have faded and you have nothing in your medical file, they should feel comfortable writing something to the effect of above. It'll likely cost you. There isn't a lot you can do without any documented medical intervention. Which could actually work in your favor. You could have your parents write a letter, it won't hurt. Though they'll want facts and medical opinion. Happy Thursday from rainy Florida!
  2. CR-1 Standalone. Consular Processing, UK-US. After over a year of waiting. Having been through USCIS, then NVC following into my medical. Which I passed, despite having an extensive history of mental health; I brought alot of documentation. I'm now waiting for my US consulate interview on the 16th November. With a planned move date on the 11th December. I'm aware my Consulate appointment might not go to plan or my documents may not get back to me in time. So we have alternate plans in place. Though with a no trace ACRO certificate, all the necessary paperwork and even more paperwork just in case; I'm quietly confident. My moving plans are in place. Already started clearing out my apartment. Flights booked. A list of Government organisations and people I need to contact before I leave and within what timeframes. It's finally happening folks!!! If my move date gets changed due to being RFEd for documentation at my interview and I don't get my documents in time. I can temporarily stay at my sister's or parent's and my fight is Flexi so can be changed. Everything is in place and the time is neatly here! I'm so excited. Finally get to be with my wife and start out life together! Does anyone else have any positive stories to share?
  3. If the immigration officer asked specifically for you to give consent for them to contact ACRO regarding your SAR. Also assuming they kept a copy of your SAR. Then you can probably save filling out an entire whole new application. An simply send the same ID requirements when filling out a SAR in an email. As stated, quoted with the reference that should be at the head of the email your SAR was attached to. Then write a short email explaining your situation and attach the required ID and section 5 of the form..... Something like, " Your Address here SAR Ref - X X X X X Subject - Third Party Nominated Consent To whom it may concern, I have been requested by the US Embassy to provide consent, for the Immigration Officer reviewing my case to contact you on my behalf. This is to discuss my recent SAR application, in relation to a, 'NO LIVE TRACE', ACRO Police certificate. Attached is the Third Party Consent portion, section 5, from the original SAR application. I give consent for ACRO to discuss my SAR with the person listed on the form. I have also attached the required form of ID. Regards. Mr..... "
  4. On the SAR form there's a section specifically for giving permission for ACRO to discuss your SAR with third parties. It's under 3rd party nominations. There is then a part to fill out the details of the person who they're allowed to discuss your SAR with. I've copied the wording below and attached a view of what details they ask you to fill in. " 5 Third party nomination ACRO will not discuss your request with another party or disclose details without your consent. If for any reason you wish to nominate a representative to discuss this request on your behalf you must provide their contact details below. Providing contact details for a third party will be considered as consent. If you are a power of attorney for the applicant, please enclose a copy of the power of attorney documents with this request. " Assuming the Embassy simply wants permission to confirm the contents of the SAR with ACRO and aren't requesting a brand new SAR. Then I'd email ACRO quoting the reference that should be headed on the email which your SAR was attached to. Provide the same identifying documentation you used to apply for the SAR (ID etc...). Then write a short email stating you would like to give permission for ACRO to discuss your SAR with the embassy and write out the details that is on the original form.
  5. Mine took roughly a month. They marked my application recieved on the 15/08/2023 and marked it sent on the 11/09/2023. It arrived 2 days after.
  6. Thankyou for the best wishes! It's been a long process. My consulate interview is on the 16th November. So all being well and my CR-1 Visa is granted. I should be moving late December or Early January. Exciting times!
  7. I've seen various posts regarding the London VISA medical and mental health. The experience of the medical and what to bring to support you in your medical. I had my medical today, so I'd like to share my experience. I was diagnosed with BPD in 2014. I self harmed in 2013, several small cuts on my left arm. Self harmed in 2019. 7-8 large lacerations to my right arm, large and very noticeable. A suicide attempt in 2020 involving a Section 2 hospitalisation for 2 weeks. Then a voluntary hospitalisation in 2021 for 2 weeks (this was to adjust medication). Various treatments in-between. For 2+ years my mental health has been stable and good. No thoughts of self harm or suicide. Was discharged by my Psychiatrist in 2021. Not on any current medication aside from Propranolol for anxiety. On the I-84 medical questionnaire, it asks you to bring a separate piece of paper listing hospitalisations, self harm etc... so I wrote a list of hospitalisation dates, dates of periods of self harm. I also brought with me two GP letters. One letter was from my regular GP. One from a Private GP. These both listed dates of self harm/suicide also, that I was not a harm to myself/others. Also that my Mental Health has been stable/good for 2-3 years. My regular GP wrote me a 2 A4 report, which I believe really helped. My GP listed treatment, dates, quotes from Psychiatric reports etc... I believe the Private GP letter cost me £35 and because of the length/time it took my regular GP to write the report. She charged me £125. The appointment went as most peoples did in terms of x-ray and vaccinations. When I saw the Doctor they were very nice. They had looked over all the paperwork I brought. We had a 5-10 minute discussion on mental health. She asked me various questions. What treatments have I had. Went over the dates of self harm/hospitalisations. That was it really. During the phsycial check, she examined my self harm scars, though then moved into checking my nose, throat, breathing and all the rest. Once the appointment with the Dr was over, I asked her. "Even though I know the ultimate decision is upto the Consulate, though do you feel my mental health will make me inadmissible?". She smiled and said along the lines of. You're marked as category B which won't make you inadmissible. Though reiterated it's upto the embassy. She said I do have an extensive history of mental health, though they're primary concern is people who have had issues within the past 12 months. Issues being, self harm, suicide, hospitalisations etc... The whole process took maybe 70 minutes.
  8. For others reading this post. After searching through the forum. I found this post that has been tremendously helpful - For anyone with similar concerns or questions to me. This post put my mind at ease and gave me an idea of what kind of evidence/documents I need to gather.
  9. Thankyou for the advice. I'll definitely search through the forum for similar situations to mine.
  10. Thankyou for the reply. So essentially I should ask for a copy of my Summary Record of Care. Details of any treatments/medications. Then when asking for a letter from my Doctor. It should detail my condition, prognosis of my condition and obviously that my condition has been stable for x amount of years and I'm not a harm to myself and not/never been a harm to others. If there have been hospitalisations. Would I then need details of the dates of hospitalisation, reason, length etc....? Did you feel like the Doctor was very understanding regarding the mental health aspect? Also how much emphasis was there regarding the mental health aspect during the exam?
  11. So I'm 11 months into my CR-1 application. Married to a US Citizen and I'm based in the UK. Currently waiting for USCIS to approve my application to pass NVC. Though hopeful this will be sometime this year. In regards to the purpose of my post. I have some questions regarding the medical exam. More so what specifically do I take to the exam. This would be in the UK. I've read the list of what to bring, though it doesn't necessarily mention anything regarding medical history. I have a mental health condition, EUPD. I also have a past history of self harm and a hospitalisation. The last incidence of self harm being more than 3 years ago. My GP would be happy to write me a letter of support detailing my mental health condition. That my condition is stable and has a positive outlook. That I am not a harm to myself and have never been a harm to others. Though other than a letter, what other form of paperwork would the examiner want to see? Would they want dates of when the self harm occured? Would they want dates of hospitalisation? On the medical questionnaire it asks about any health conditions, hospitalisations, if you've ever caused injury to yourself or others and medications. Then asks to use a separate sheet to go into further detail. Would the, 'separate sheet', be where I include the letter from my GP and detail the medical history relating to the questions. Could this also be in the form of my GP detailing the history? Or would they want a copy of my medical history. If anyone could give me some advice or detail their personal experience if similar, it would be much appreciated.
