Approval notice - maybe. But don't miss the GC! It takes 3-6 weeks to get it in the mail after approval. If I was you and the trip wasn't urgent - I'd postpone it.
The problem is that my husband is going on this 9 days long work trip, i don't want to be alone in the house and i can't drive by myself yet (learner permit plus we are in a small town that doesn't have public transport) so i am going to stay with my in-laws who live 2h from us.
I can try to ask to my MIL to take me to my house to grab it, technically I should get a tracking code to monitor the shipping.
I don't really feel comfortable contacting USPS because they just did damages in the past 5 months and now it should be all good. If it takes more or around 3 weeks then is all good!

Very cool. Congrats!
The USCIS updated on Sunday, or you hadn’t checked in a while?
I got a text message on the 11th saying that USCIS took actions on my case and the status changed on the 12th and on that date i also saw the approval notice in the doc tab.
I hope to get it in the mail in the next two weeks cause i'll not be home from the end of the month to the start of May

We just got our GC approved and I never had any update on the EAD/AP.
Good luck everyone 🍀

There is more to the process than USCIS processing.
Of course!
NVC timelines are fluctuating and Consulate appointments availability too.
As far as I know scheduling the interview in Italy for a K1 visa is way faster than for CR1/IR1, also I know many people that requested to be transferred to the Italian consulate and on average it takes probably 2 weeks, and some people requested it directly at the NVC stage before receiving the case # (showing proof of citizenship/permanent residence). I can only speak about my experience and specific embassy, maybe other places are less efficient or have a higher volume of petitions. That's something that needs to be considered too.

Based on what I've read online, it seems like the consensus has been that the CR-1 is strictly better than the K-1 because the processing times were similar but the CR-1 allows you to work as soon as you enter the US.
However, according to VJ, the processing times for the I-129F have halved in the past year while the I-130 has stayed roughly the same. I understand that the benefits of the CR-1 are significant, but right now our goal is to get together ASAP, so the K-1 seems better for us. Has the online consensus not caught up with the data or am I missing something? Even if VJ has a smaller, self-reported dataset, the trend seems quite clear
Hi!
I recently obtained my Green Card through the K1 visa route, and as many have noted, it comes with its pros and cons.
Personally, I have some reservations about choosing the K1 visa route, primarily because I filed early in 2022 when the average processing time exceeded 15 months. Nowadays, USCIS processes cases much faster, with an average wait time of 7-8 months.
The embassy transfer process is relatively straightforward, particularly if you're transferring to the Italian embassy. Generally, interview slots are readily available. For instance, people are currently booking interviews for mid to late May without much difficulty.
If your priority is to be together as soon as possible, I would recommend opting for the K1 route.
Furthermore, Green Cards, Advance Parole (AP), and Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) are now processed swiftly for K1 visa holders. Many individuals receive their EAD or EAD+AP approvals shortly after biometrics.
Regarding restrictions, such as obtaining a driver's license, it varies significantly by state. For example, I was able to obtain my driver's license in Texas without needing an EAD. However, I've heard that California and other states are more stringent in this regard.

Just checking in. No change since biometric on 8 March.
765 shows ‘taking longer then expected’ since 24 March.
Ho hum.
in my case my progress went from longer than expected to now 1 week for my I765, I don't have high expectations lol
I indeed requested an expedite a month ago and yesterday I called costumer service and she said that a tier2 agent will call me back to make sure they'll handle the decision. She told me that usually the NBC takes between 7-10 to adjudicate expedite request, I wonder what's going on there lol I didn't even see the acceptance on the status of the case, I just see my referral code in my inbox.
I am afraid I'll have to ask for an expedite for the AP too, because my grandma is in the hospital and probably she's not going to make it.
all this process is extremely dumb and unfair, I don't understand how there are people getting the GC in 2 months and other people waiting 5+ months just for the EAD. I also don't understand how if all the EAD/AP are processed at the NBC but the majority of cali/chicago applicants get approved the same day of biometrics or a couple of days later, meanwhile I know some people form NC who are waiting since months and also here in Dallas, I know 2 more people who have Dallas as a local field office the are still waiting since months and one just got the EAD approved after almost 4 months

Six months paystubs are nothing without an EVL. The employer must allow write up an EVL.
Uscis is not going to research the OSs salary.
I don't think you are understanding what we are telling you.
Because USCIS already knows that your OS didn't meet the FPGLs in 2023, your going to need to be more detailed on how you respond NOW to this RFIE and you'll need to respond with CURRENT income as explained above.
I'm not talking about what you've uploaded in the past (or even in the recent past). I'm talking NOW and AFTER the RFIE was issued.
You'll respond by mail because AOSers are not eligible to upload.
Current proof of income as in a CURRENT EVL (dated after the RFIE) and current paystubs dated since now (after RFIE) and back 6 months from now.
Current income evidence will help you prove both that the OS meets the FPGLs and doesn't need the JS any more.
2023 taxes are most recent taxes but are not current income. read the instructions verll
Current EVL and 6m paystubs are.
Please please please read through the instructions to differentiate your understanding of tax proofs and current income.
At the end, the Request for Evidence (RFE) was regarding my Joint Sponsor's W2, as she files taxes jointly with her husband. Although I had read the instructions, we overlooked her tax return.
I have successfully uploaded the RFE response online. Please refrain from spreading misinformation regarding IOE cases/e-files. It appears that your replies in other threads lack updated information

Man, I feel like everyone is going through this process so fast but I'm caught in the slow lane.
Application received 29th December. Biometrics Feb 1st 2024. Nothing since then but i-765 is now 'taking longer than expected'. I'm hoping before the end of the month EAD is approved. I'm amazed some of you already have had AOS approved!! Lucky, hopefully my case speeds up soon.Hi! can i ask you what's your FO?

We’ve had no updates since our biometrics until today.
The 765 section has the dreaded ‘your case is taking longer than expected’.
No updates at all on the other 2.
How fun. Yay.
Same for us!

Today I was finally able to see what the RFIE was about. It was about my joint sponsor W2s, my MIL fills for taxes jointly with my FIL so I had to provide a proof of just her salary.
I was able to upload everything online with no problems.
I saw the change of status online on the 14th, I had to wait until today to see it uploaded in my document tab online and it was also dated today.

Please please please read through the instructions to differentiate your understanding of tax proofs and current income.
As I said my husband meet the FPGL in 2023, he didn't meet the FPGL in 2022, which was the most recent tax transcript at the time we sent the forms. The instructions list as proof "A copy of your individual Federal income tax return, including W-2s for the most recent tax year... Also include a copy of each and every Form 1099, Schedule, and any other evidence of reported income. You may submit this information for the most recent three tax years, pay stubs from the most recent six months, and/or a letter from your employer".
The fact that AOSers (IOE09 cases) are not eligible to upload online it's false, when uploading evidence online you can pick the category "RFE response" but I'll go by what the mail says when i'll receive it. I know that with USCIS is better to be safe than sorry so i will probably both send it by mail and upload it online if it's listed in the RFIE letter.

The commentor is stating that current income is more common important than 2023 taxes as they are not current regardless if they are the most recent ones.
Proving current income is best. ESPECIALLY when the OS has not met the FPGLs in the past. In your case, 2023 taxes will likely not be enough.
The I864 instructions state what you can submit to prove current income. (Likely, a properly written EVL AND 6 months of current paystubs however you've indicated nothing as to the OSs employment type in your thread to help further).
Ensure you've read and understand the instructions before filing out any form.
when we submitted (Jan 2024) I uploaded in addition my husband's last 6 months paystubs since his 2022 tax return was under FPGL, we specified his employment type on the form and his salary is also available to the public. After we filed for taxes late February i also uploaded as a evidence his w2 plus 1040 and once it was available i uploaded his 2023 transcript.

Tax returns are evidence of past income, not current.
Exactly why if it's something about my joint sponsor i'd make my husband fill a new I-864 with is 2023 tax transcript.

Post it, redacted, of course.
*Unrelated: best your RFIE response be on paper and mailed in, not uploaded as your AOS package was mailed and not online filed.
Thank you, I'm still waiting to see it uploaded in my online account

Sorry about that, did u submit the required vaccinations?
I did! I also explain it in the cover letter that since i already did the medical for the k1 i don't need to do it another time.
I still can't see it uploaded online, for sure they take their time!

Hi everyone! I recently got a RFIE for my I-485, at this time I still don't know what the request is about but i am afraid it is related to my joint sponsor's I-864.
When we filled for AOS my mother-in-law accepted to be my joint sponsor since my husband's 2022 tax transcript was below poverty line and we filled before he filed for taxes. Now his 2023 tax transcript is way above poverty line, if the RFIE is about it can we withdraw my mother-in-law form and send a new I-864 of just my husband's? I already uploaded on march 1st our 2023 tax transcript as a proof of bona fide marriage since we filled jointly.
thank you so much!

We just received RFIE (almost 2 months after submission) i wish i could see what's about, i guess i have to wait a little bit before it gets uploaded online in the documents tab

They returned the check along with 4 pages of explanation. Mostly useless. In one page they did mention it will change April first. One of the 4 pages had NOA with rejection letter. Again does not matter, since I got the NOA for both EAD as well as AOS.
The USCIS office shows Lee's Summit, MO, 64002. I assume it's Kansas city office? How is processing time there? on USCIS site it's showing 20 months. But I am assuming based on progress of everyone else, those processing times are not at all for K1-AOS and EAD. Am I correct?
Only the EAD/AP get processed at the NBC, they also do a check of all the required documents of you I-485 but then it get sent to a field office. Your petition could get sent to a random field office that has less of a work load. I can say that my I-485 it's already at my local field office since a couple of days (i chatted last week with a live agent and they told me that it was at the NBC and i chatted again yesterday and they said that was at the Dallas field office).

Yes, we live in Dallas, but sent the package to Arizona. It's been over 30 days since they received the package and we haven't heard anything
you sent it to the wrong location, they will probably automatically forward it to the right location. Did you try to contact USCIS?

I don't think it's the same for I-485 cases, i don't think there is any pattern related to the number of cases. Its because many type of visas fall under the family based i-485, it's also FO dependent. I don't think there's a way to know if a I-485 comes from a k1 visa or a overstay of a b1/b2 or immediate relative.
