  1. My father has an IR-5 visa endorsed by a stamp (I-551). "UPON ENDORSEMENT SERVES AS TEMPORARY I-551 EVIDENCING PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR 1 YEAR". Is it guaranteed that he will be let back in the US if he travels outside before he gets a physical green card? thank you
  2. I need travel history for the naturalization application.
  3. thank you. When I'm tracking on the new IOE payment receipt, the status is "Immigrant Visa Fee Payment Received". When should I expect it to be updated and what's the next status? anything like "green card is being produced"?
  4. I thought USCIS petitions were unnecessary convoluted, but it seems that after petition it is even more hairy. So, my mom has IR-5 visa and is about to come to the US. We're trying to figure out how to check the status of her case and preparation of her green card. is it possible to see it while logged in to https://my.uscis.gov/? Right now when she is logged in under her account it's empty, there is no case visible. USCIS says that https://my.uscis.gov/ is the right place to update your mailing address for green card - but how? can't find an option. There is a separate website called USCIS Case status https://egov.uscis.gov/. But it's unclear which Receipt number should be entered here. We tried entering NVC case number and it just says "The receipt number entered is invalid, please try again." We tried paying the USCIS immigration fee using A-number (registration number from the visa) and DOS-number (IV-number from the visa), money got charged, but we got no clarity that the payment was applied to correct case. Is there a way to check that? Thank you
  5. which website are you checking the status on? https://ceac.state.gov/IV doesn't have these statuses as far as I can see
  6. If someone got a valid immigration visa (IR-5 in this case), arrives to the US, presumably they can wait up to 90 days for the physical green card to arrive. Can they leave and come back on the same visa before receiving the green card?
  7. Sharing some experience from a stressful day. My parents arrived for an IR-5 immigration visa interview in Warsaw. All papers were in order, everything prepared as told, checked 100 times.. And at the entrance they are told that they can't enter the embassy if there is no profile for passport delivery details! They had to go back to get their phones and create the profiles from the phones, on the website https://portal.ustraveldocs.com/applicanthome . There you enter your name, passport number, mailing address for passport delivery. It created an unnecessary delay and lots of stress. Additionally, for one of them the address in the profile was incorrect - we had to scramble to fix it after the interview via customer support. The existence of this step is not communicated anywhere - not in NVC / CEAC website, not on State Dept website, not on the embassy website, and not in the interview invitation email. Keep in mind. Maybe it's just for Warsaw embassy, maybe for more. Also, they told us that unlike earlier years when you always got the passport with a visa next day (unless you got into administrative processing), it will be 3-5 business days here.
  8. as an update, got a date notification about a month ago, the date is July 5 (3 months 5 days after DQ)
  9. I've petitioned for my parents, they have interview appointment in Warsaw. Can I attend as well to help them?
  10. thank you, this is helpful. is there any way to filter timelines by embassy (Warsaw) instead of by citizenship?
  11. I see exactly the same issue right now.
  12. I've applied for my parents, IR5. Warsaw. Got Documentarily Qualified on March 1. When should we expect to hear back with the date? Are there any case databases where I can see examples of recent timelines? There are supposed to be some. I checked the pinned "wait threads" and unfortunately there is only IR1 for Warsaw and that thread is dead.
  13. when did she become Documentarily Qualified?
  14. So I am at the NVC stage of IR-5 immigration visa for my father (I am US citizen). I-130 was approved. I see that in Civil Documents section on ceac.state.gov, among required documents, there is "PETITIONER'S MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE". Why? I was married once, currently I am divorced. Why would they care about my marriage certificate, but not care about my divorce judgment? It's a bit weird.
  15. My mom was born in USSR in Belarus. Her birth certificate is from USSR - doesn't state nationality. Her passport is from Belarus - states nationality as Belarusian. She never had passport of any other country than USSR/Belarus. According to some papers (specifically, my USSR birth certificate) her nationality was written as "Russian". She never lived in Russia, wasn't eligible for Russian citizenship and never had it. Should she mention just Belarusian nationality, or should she add "Other" nationality as Russian?
  16. thank you all. it's clear now that we'll answer NO to both. it's not an unusual situation - I am sure lots of IR5 have the same.
  17. I am a US citizen, got an approved I-130 for my mother. Her husband is not my father, so I didn't apply for him. My mom is filling DS-260 right now, and she came upon two questions: - "Is your spouse immigrating to the U.S. with you?" - obviously No, since he is not part of the petition and is not applying for a visa. - "Is your spouse immigrating to the U.S. at a later date to join you?" - we don't know how to answer that. There is no immigration petition or anything started or in process for her husband. My mother might start that I-130 petition herself after she becomes an LPR, but for now there is nothing. Should she answer Yes or No? What does this question even mean?
  18. I became a US Citizen due to naturalization, to which I applied after 5 years on green card. How is this relevant?
  19. why not? is this going to affect chances of the final approval?
  20. Thank you. I looked at the links provided. What documents are expected to be provided at the NVC process? Same that were submitted in I-130, or more?
  21. I am US Citizen. I applied for I-130 for both of my parents who currently reside abroad, both applications in Nov 2022. My original understanding was that timeline is supposed to be 9-11 months. As of today, I see on USCIS website "7 months" on one and "8 months" on another application which gets us to Nov-Dec 2023 territory. Is it reasonable? Is there at all a place where people share that they just received approval on I-130 and post when they applied, so I can see real-life cases of timelines? Also, I am concerned that it's extremely unclear what happens after I-130 approval (hopefully). Let's say I-130 is approved. Can my parents just set up an appointment at the closest US embassy right away (hopefully appointment just a few days after approval)? I've heard somewhere that may be they can't set up themselves and need to wait months for USCIS/NVC to give them appointment with no clarity about this process. Is there anything to read about this? Also, both I-130 forms mentioned that they reside outside of the US and will be getting visas in an embassy. What will happen if they apply for B-1 visas in the next month or two? Hopefully they can get B-1 (can they?), and if they arrive to the US, and get I-130 approved while physically in the US, can they get AOS instead of embassy appointment?
