because my ROC was pending, I did not know if that can be done during ROC Also I could not afford when I last traveled

Dear VisaJourneys, I found this forum to have a lot of important information about Immigration, and I even found situations about people staying out of the states for years and being able to come back, my situation is different so Im gonna ask you for some advise... OCT 2021 - I went to Italy ....find out my father have cancer and situation is really bad NOV 2021 - GO BACK TO THE U.S DEC 2021 - Go back to Italy...my father is really sick, I decided to stay....months and months pass. OCT 2022 - GO BACK TO THE U.S - 10 months out - no questions at CPB JAN 2023 - Decided to go to Italy to stay with my father during his surgery ( my father and mother are 70 years old and Im the only son "available" ) JAN 2023 - Go Back to the US JAN 2023 - 3 days latter decided to go back to Italy because my mother just can't handle my father alone....And I've been here since JAN. My father medical situation is really complicated, because the cancer is stable however he has some rare post-surgery complications, that require someone helping him multiple times a day. Doctors did not find a cure yet and I don't know for how long this process gonna take. I live with partner in San Francisco. Just in the end of February my ROC was approved after waiting since 2019 ( I was already outside the US ) At this point I decided that Im gonna do the best that I can for my father, and I'm gonna stay here in Italy. I want to go to America soon to apply for a reentry permit ( before 5 months that I left ) Im traveling to America with expired green card + 48 months extension letter ( my 10 year GC was approved in February and I did not go home yet to pick it up ) - Just wanna add : I don't want to abandon my life in the US. All my future is in the US . I just can't leave my family right now so here are my questions: 1- IF CBP try to take away my GC ( although I only have the expired GC with me ) and decide to give me NTA, do I have to stay in the US waiting for that? Or can I come to the US, apply for a reentry permit and leave and come back for NTA? Also is there a chance they ask me to come back to the airport for a "secondary" inspection? ( I read something like that ) ---- Im thinking about the worst case because I need to pay someone to help my father when Im not here 2- Am I gonna face any problem because Im traveling without the 10 year green card that was approved in FEB? 3- Should I bring translated medical documents from my father to show CBP? should I tell CBP that Im coming to apply for a Reentry permit? 4- Usually how long does it take to USCIS to accept a reentry permit package? I read that I can only leave the US when they receive.....Im going thru financial issues right now and I cant afford to change the flights...so Im booking a roundtrip flight for 2 weeks Thank you my friends
