    Some of the agencies mentioned in the blog may also be involved in screening (in addition to visa applicants) of large number of immigrants (on priority basis) crossing borders illegally before registering them.

    There is some hope in term of speeding up AP in 2024 for immigrant visas (Not sure if it benefits new applicants or applicants already in AP) in the following paragraph: 17. The Department has been actively involved in working with the National Vetting Center to shift security vetting of visa applicants from the KFE vetting system discussed above to the National Vetting Center. The Department transferred the national security vetting of nonimmigrant visa applicants to the National Vetting Center in October 2022, with immigrant visa vetting to follow sometime in 2024. The Department anticipates that moving security vetting to the National Vetting Center will create efficiencies in the vetting process that will ultimately benefit all visa applicants and also enhance border security by providing more robust screening of applicants.

    @Bestbest7 >>>I was put on AP / DS5535 for having the wrong RCMP clearance letter. Could you clarify if you were asked by MTL to provide the DS-5535 like 15 years travel history, 15 years work history, and addresses etc.? Just submitting the wrong RCMP clearance certificate does not take 8 months to year to issue a visa. Missing/Wrong documents cases are generally resolved between 8-12 weeks once you submit the correct document.

    True. I guess consulate still send the resume to DC for vetting as CO may not be expert in all TAL subjects

    Another VJ member @tas005 were given 221g in November 2023. MTL asked him to submit Resume only without DS-5535. Consulate kept his passport. We did not hear any update from him.

    DS-5535 is given to individuals meeting any one of following criteria: 1. Education or work experience in TAL (Technology Alert List) 2. Born in MENA countries or certain Asian countries 3. Extensive travel history 4. Randomly selected by system for AP.

    Congrats! Does your visa annotation say "Clearance Received on <<date>>?

    Yes - you get one printout as you mentioned after interview. One generic information paper (Not specific to case) will be delivered with passport that indicates how to pay Green Card fee and other info etc.

    Sorry to hear about that. I am not sure why your wife was served with DS-5535 for an expired visa on old passport? Anyway looks like DS-5535 cases are not making any progress for MTL since March 2023.

    Our case is way behind in queue so just waiting to hear good news from other members.

    I would buy very small 'Binder Clips' from Walmart/Staples and use them. In majority of the cases you have to provide Original/Certified Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificate, latest Tax Transcripts/W-2 of sponsor, original police reports and current passport.

    There are a lot of DS-5535 case awaiting clearance in Montreal consulate starting from Feb/Mar 2023. If you are planning to file WOM, read last few pages of forum below to get latest situation/opinion on filing WOM

CO may not be very technical to understand your education/work experience related to TAL (cybersecurity, may be AI is also added recently). May be they forwarded your resume to DC office for clearance. Asking for resume is something that was introduced in 2016/2017 or may be earlier. The visa has annotation like "Clearance received on <date>" . Hoping your case will be resolved quickly as they did not ask for DS-5535

    Your educational background or work experience may be in TAL (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technology_Alert_List#:~:text=The Technology Alert List (TAL,nontransfer of U.S.-held technologies.) that is why were flagged by system and consulate requested Resume from you.     Looks like filing WOM was the only way for you to get out of AP after waiting more than a year. Options for filing WOM are limited now as a lot of WOMs are being dismissed after June.
