  1. If your mom submitted DS-5535 today. He can look at case updated case daily at the end of day for initially for 3-4 weeks. The case update will stop at some point then you can check weekly after that. You will get 3-4 case updates one after another once your case is about to clear. There is not hard and fast rules but it is more like a pattern.
  2. DS-260 is valid for one year. When the case is cleared, MTL ask you to update the DS-260 and send them updated confirmation page with passport etc.
  3. My both parents were interviewed in Oct 2023. My dad was asked to submit DS-5535 and Resume. MTL returned passport to dad. You can look at the following spreadsheet for IR5 cases. It takes 6 months to more than year to get clearance from DC as there is a backlog of more 66000 cases in immigrant and K1 visas categories. Please enter your dates for the benefits of other people stuck in AP. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jV7rzX2eCRVoEDRhOtN9a6hDoHRLNEf1P3ZGZbQ0_Dc/edit#gid=0
  4. What additional documents you need to send them? If missing civil documents then you need to send passport with those missing documents and it may takes 4-6 weeks to issue visa once documents are received. If the consulate gave a link in the 221g print out to submit the online form with 15 years travel, work histories etc. then they served you DS-5535. In that case there is no use of sending passport at this point. The DS-5535 clearance takes 6 months to more than a year. Consulate need your passport to stamp visa. In that case passport can be mailed once the clearance is received. You may read this thread as mentioned above to get some idea about processing times.
  5. Generally consulate scan your photograph at document collection window to make a digital copy and return it to you. You do not need to provide it again if it is not older than 6 months.
  6. True - F1/J1 are non-immigrant cases. These cases have been processing via National Vetting Center since October 2022 which is more efficient than KFE vetting system that is used to process immigrant and K1 visas (as per Declaration of Carson Wu) It depends on nationality and the number of DS-5535 served at that consulate. Looks like specialized analysts are allocated per region and has expertise in security clearance of that region.
  7. What is your consulate? Once you had an interview and severed with DS-5535, priority of your case does not matter. Your DS-5535 will resolved just like any other cases (CR1/IR1 etc.) by DC office.
  8. You need to submit DS-5535 once unless it is lost by consulate. You do not need to update post DS-5535 travel history unless consulate ask you for new DS-5535 form and that is very unlikely.
  9. Search “Cutting the line us immigration” on YouTube for Fox News Video
  10. It should be Part 3 (a) (Yes) I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in Part 2. I-864 should be filled separately for your mother and father (2 x I-864)
  11. I remembered you won't be able to register without IL. Even you receive IL, you can register after 1-2 days of receiving interview email.
  12. You need to send them the 2nd medical, passport or any other requested documents ASAP. Some VJ members have mailed their documents after 2-4 months also because either they are out of country for vacation or in US on non-immigrant work visas at the time documents were requested. MTL takes its own time to issue visa once you submit documents.
  13. This is the new status updated today after a 9th day of Green Card activation. What would be the next status if any one knows? Card Printed? or Dispatched? Approximately how long will it take for delivery? We have approved your Form OS155A, Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Receipt Number IOExxxxxxxxxx. 14. For the information of folks who were only asked for Resume only - No DS-5535. It seems that other consulates are clearing those cases in 60 days for EB visas. Look at following VJ thread if you are interested. azzz's Content - VisaJourney Resume Requested: 21 Nov 2023 (221g) Visa Issued: 26 Jan 2024 That is inline with Carson Wu declaration but not valid for Montreal consulate That said, generally, security vetting is concluded in 75 percent of visa cases requiring additional security vetting in approximately 120 days. Security vetting is concluded in over 90 percent of all cases requiring additional security vetting in less than 24 months.
  15. Frequent updates happen if most of the cases if you have recently submitted your DS-5535 form. Consulate might be working on your file for further processing.
  16. yes - Consulate provide you the locker for small items. You cannot carry it to interview area.

  19. Security Advisory Opinion - Wikipedia You can also read original declaration of Carson Wu from redeaglelaw.com blog 18. Consular officers are also required to request SAOs for reasons other than a systems lookout. During the interview, consular officers also pursue case-relevant inquiries pertaining to the applicant’s identity, qualifications for the particular visa category in question, prior visa applications or travel to the United States, and any information pertaining to possible grounds of visa ineligibilities, including security-related grounds of ineligibility under INA section 212(a)(3).
  20. Yes: Type of criminal record check should be "Other" for sure
  21. If you were served with DS-5535, it is better to request consulate to return your passport. You may sent it back when the clearance is received. Passport is needed to stamp visa. Consulate may request you to do 2nd medical after six months.
  22. Sorry to hear about that. Did consulate ask for resume in addition to DS-5535? There are many reason for DS-5535 like travel history, country of origin, name hit, education/work in TAL(resume is requested) and sometimes randomly selected by system. Please enter your information in the following spreadsheet for benefit of others once you are done with submitting DS-5535 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jV7rzX2eCRVoEDRhOtN9a6hDoHRLNEf1P3ZGZbQ0_Dc/edit#gid=0
  23. Both parents are dual citizen. AP for dad was triggered first time when he applied for non-immigrant US visa few years ago but was cleared within a month. Dad was expecting DS-5535 when I sponsored him as a parent of US citizen
