  1. I know that I can change my name back to Brown with the divorce decree- I guess my question is more based on, how does that affect the now stamped visa with the last name of Jones? If I change my name back to Brown and we get married and she takes the last name of Brown but her visa says Petitioner's name is Jones... does that cause issues? I want to change my name back to Brown and she wants to take that name as well, so it would be easier to do that on the marriage cert, but I just don't want it to cause issues when she files for Adjustment of Status and Green card. And yes, I am the American
  2. I have a unique situation- 7 years ago, I was married and changed my name (let's just say it went from Brown to Jones, Brown being my maiden name and Jones being my married name). When I got divorced two years ago, I never changed my name back to "Brown" and I ended up meeting my now-fiancee very shortly after my divorce (~5 months after). We knew immediately that we wanted to get married so we started the i-129f paperwork with my divorced name of "Jones." Long story short, on her issued visa, it now says "Petitioner is ___ Jones," not "Brown." I hate my married/divorced last name but was too afraid to change it this whole time thinking it would cause problems with the submitted documents. My question is, now that the visa is stamped and approved, can I "change" my name back to the maiden name of "Brown" before I get married to my now-fiancee? Or will that cause issues since her passport/visa says my divorced name and not my maiden name? Or will it not be a problem since USCIS is already aware since I listed both names on all of the paperwork? I am honestly not even sure who to talk to in regards to this so I am posting here, hoping someone has some feedback or has had a similar situation.
  3. Definitely call. It's a call center but they will escalate it to the Embassy staff Yes, thankfully it is in Approved status since yesterday. Just waiting for Issue now
  4. how long ago did you submit the document? maybe send an inquiry via the website to follow up, or call to see if they received it yet.
  5. ah yes, we did receive that letter. I am going to call the Embassy tomorrow to see if there are any updates. Case still says Ready
  6. no we haven't gotten that letter. Would they have given that to us at the interview, or via email? I did call today and they escalated a ticket- I guess they will respond in 1-2 business days.
  7. Thank you both. Do you happen to know if it's abnormal for the status to continue to say "Ready" even after our interview? Majority of people we spoke with had their status changed immediately after the interview to "Application Received" then "Approved" then "Issued." My fiance actually just sent an inquiry and one of the first things they asked was "Are you sure you've had your interview?" It makes me worried since the case still says Ready (for Interview) even after 3 weeks since we had the interview.
  8. Hello- has anyone had their K1 visa issued after their interview recently in Santo Domingo. I know that the current wait times are around 3 weeks to a month, however; we have noticed that some people are getting their visa before then. For instance, one couple had their interview on 4/11 and received their visa on 4/20. We had our interview on 4/3 and our status has been unchanged on CEAC- still displaying "Ready." Does anyone know why there are some visas issued earlier than others? Seems a bit unfair, especially since the person at the embassy said we were approved and had all the necessary paperwork already.
