  1. Five-year rule, it's for both of us so we can't use the spousal rule ;). Ah, looks like there's a time limit to editing posts so I can't add this to the previous one. Let me add this to my signature.
  2. 2016 (me), 2017 (her) - we both immigrated at the same time, so we've been PRs for a full five years
  3. Note that it's the p80 (80% of cases get decided within this time). For the Chicago office it currently says 10mo but our interviews are scheduled for < 4 months since submission. and IIRC that estimator showed a way higher number back in March (maybe 14 months?), then our individual estimates on our dashboard also swung wildly (at some point it showed 16+ months, then it dropped to 9 months). So... if your husband's case is not that complicated, you can probably beat the estimate. For peace of mind I just have a calendar reminder to check the status weekly (so we don't miss anything) and otherwise try to not think about it. Oh, and you can see copies of everything they send you in the document tab of your USCIS dashboard, in case they lose it in the mail. Still waiting for our interview notices after 12 days
  4. Similar situation here (H-1B and H-4, wife has to provide marriage certificate). Does this mean the spouse deriving the immigration benefit (PathOfLight and my wife) should bring evidence of marriage to the naturalization interview, even though it's not asked?
  5. Chicago field office. Let me copy in the timeline data here and add the notice dates, since those are not in the timeline CIS Office : Chicago IL Date Filed : 2023-03-22 NOA Date : Bio. Appt. Notice : 2023-03-22 2023-03-24 Bio. Appt. : 2023-04-13 Interview Notice : Interview Date : 2023-05-24 2023-07-13
  6. If you have Global Entry, this is already the case. Surprised me that I didn't even need to scan my passport or GC card at the kiosk. That being said, like Mike I always carry my GC but never shows it to anyone except immigration and TSA. I also don't frequent places where there's a lot of pickpockets though... Now, back before GC days, compliance is harder as in theory I have to bring this long form work permit with me everywhere...
  7. Per https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/alerts/uscis-updates-policy-to-automatically-extend-green-cards-for-naturalization-applicants Make sure you bring your N-400 receipt notice in that case as that is the proof that your GC is automatically extended for 24 months
  8. Two options it seems - you can reschedule your oath ceremony - but this is likely a bad option if it takes months to schedule - you can get an expedited passport if you have travel within two weeks https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast.html Good luck! Subscribing here, also doing name changes. Our interviews are next month.
  9. Starting a thread for those filing for naturalization in March 2023. My wife and I did this (timeline updated), scheduled for interview on July 13.
  10. I did something similar, wouldn't really worry about it. Will let you know after the interview next month though!
  11. I wonder if that would be the same here in IL. Have not tested it since my DL expiration still predates the GC one. But I think it's a standard practice for those on other visas like H-1B/H-4 too. Back in WA there is no Real ID at all for non citizens. The only options are standard licenses, and Enhanced Driver Licenses. The latter are Real ID compliant, and let you drive to Canada without a passport, and so are only issued to citizens 😞
  12. Congratulations on both the upcoming baby and naturalizing! The timelines on this site really help - that's what brought me here in the first place. FWIW, when I plug my local field office it estimates ten months but we did our biometrics less than a month after filing, and the interviews will be three months after biometrics so I suspect I'll end up beating the estimate (but our cases are probably simpler than average) https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/
  13. That's concerning. I'm not sure why she doesn't already have an unrestricted SSA though, since you can get that done once you get permanent residence. I guess if she's not working there was no need to do it earlier.
  14. Huh, interesting. As a green card holder you should already get unrestricted SSA and real ID right? Is a name change involved perhaps
