  1. EB2 has reached to its cap for this year! Not sure if this applies to EB2-NIW too and if the pre-scheduled interviews for the reat of September, including mine, are getting canceled 😐 https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/annual-limit-reached-in-the-EB-2-category.html
  2. Thank you @Froozion That's a relief! Perhaps you guys got your phd from the US? A friend of mine, who I did my phd in AI with—he's originally from the UK but we studied together in Canada— ended up getting AP. The officer actually told him that having a PhD in AI was considered a red flag! So I suspect we are considered a "security threat!!" if didn't study in the US🤣
  3. Oh I missed one more criterion which is if you've studied or worked in any of the fields that are included in the following Technology Alert List (TAL) then your odds of getting AP'd are probably higher than 90% since the officer is obligated to send your case to the security advisory department called the Mantis: https://www.greencardlawyers.com/answers_for/VisaProcessing/TALFieldsList.html
  4. I'll let @Froozion to answer but according to my own research I have been conducting, if you're born and raised in Canada and haven't stayed in 'hot zone' countries more than 6 months, especially if you've studied in the US then the interview probably would be just a formality otherwise or if a red flag pops up on the officer's system then you're AP'd no matter what. For instance as far as I know there has only been 1 case in the past 2 years where a couple were born in Iran and they didn't get AP'd and that's because they both studies in the States...each case is different though...
  5. So happy for you guys, congratulations!! Did the officer for ask any documents from your current employer? I know you're EB2-NIW but I hear some people in our category are asked that randomly? Also, did you get asked to provide any of the documents you previously submitted to USCIS before getting the approval letter (e.g., your PhD dissertation, your publications, books, awards, etc.)?
  6. Congratulations! May I know what lawyer you got your WOM filed by?
  7. Congratulations! Do you mind me asking if you are born in Canada or other countries since you are not AP'd which is fantastic?
  8. Here is the checklist of documents for the interview, photos should be 2x2". https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html#pre_interview_checklist
  9. Is the CO specifically asking me to email them my latest resume or does the resume need to be sent along the DS-5535 online form? I'm asking since I anticipate to get "double-double" like getting both AP'd and requested for my resume since I was born on middle east and got a phd in ai LOL
  10. Hi everyone, Just wanted to say hi and reserve my spot here in this post thread since statistically speaking chances of me being AP'd or at least CV request stuff after my interview at Montreal next month, is 99.8% LOL Category: EB2-NIW (PhD in AI) Origin: Middle Eastern
  11. I have been calling everywhere in Canada and the States for my kids, the latest vaccines batch ended in late July and the new one is coming around October. Not sure what to do either
  12. Hi all! Interview letter received this morning🙂 DQ March 2023 Interview date: Sept 21
  13. I think we had somebody here whose DQ was Jan 2023 and got an interview letter in the last batch, if I'm not mistaken
  14. A friend of mine who is born and raised in the UK and we both got our PhD in IT from Canada was put in AP too. The officer told them holding a doctorate degree in STEM fields raises a security flag in their systems automatically which is insane! I speculate that's what is happening to me too, and other candidates with the silimar situation
  15. Good point. It begs the question what happens if similar situation happens to us in EB2/EB2-NIW category like somebody gets AP'd but after getting clearance they run out of quota??
  16. Your lawyer is wrong! Neither NIW endeavor types including persoanl (worker/employee) nor entrepreneurship (those who have had their own company and employees for several years before applying) don't need a sponsor
  17. Seems like adding more staff would be the only reason that justifies this huge leap which is great LOL
  18. Thanks @TheMaverick I'm facing a similar challenge with obtaining a new police certificate from my home country. It typically takes 2-3 months for it to be issued due to extensive bureaucracy
  19. Agreed. I am also wondering if we are allowed to bring that much documents ie books, articles, etc. with us to the consulate
  20. @TheMaverick Does your police cert from your home country state an expiry date e.g. 6 month, etc.?
  21. Anybody in the EB2-NIW crew got the lowdown on what extra docs we need to bring for this interview aside from the ones listed in the interview check list, since I hear some folks are asked to show the original or cerificied copies of their academic and other merit based documets during the interview? I'm asking since some folks like myself in EB2-NIW specifically might need a suitcase for all the eligibility documents submitted to USCIS initially. It's just to stay prepared in case the officer throws a random request our way. Gotta be ready for anything:)
  22. @Froozion You're right but there are concerns in my case, one that I can't find a definitive description of what "...have not returned..." means in their statement ie does it mean residency there for 6 months+, or just visiting for a shorter period of time, etc. 2nd, it clearly states "this cert expires in 6 months" in my police certificate that I've got 1 year ago for my back home thru it's embassy, so I'd appreciate it if anybody can share their experience of a similar case
  23. That's great news since the latest ILs Montreal sent out were for July-August 2022 DQs, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if the processing time for EB2-NIW and EB2 subcategories are the same though. (I am EB2-NIW too) @Froozion Am I right?
  24. Congratulations @Adam RS for the invite! Are you in EB2-NIW category or EB2, and what's your filing date?
