  1. Ana M., has you mother made it to Anchorage? 🙂 My mother is heading to Moscow for the medical exam. We decided it would be easier, and Almaty okayed it. Her interview is scheduled for Feb 8.
  2. Has anybody tried to contact IOM Moscow after the holidays? I haven't had a chance to call the number listed online. It seems the link that directs applicants to schedule appointments is not functional.
  3. Russia literally shuts down for the holidays 🙃 I wouldn't bother trying to schedule anything until after Jan 10.
  4. Can your fiancee contact her Congressional representative and request they intervene on your behalf? Given the right spin, your narrative should get you special consideration in most consulate units thoughout the post-Soviet bloc. I agree this will be your best bet, because trying to find a Russian-speaking consular officer elsewhere may be challenging.
  5. Where are you located? What's your status?
  6. Sorry, spaced on the fact that it's Poland!🙃
  7. The scheduling site does not always fit my situation completely (even though it is not unique by any means). Oftentimes, I have to choose the closest best option, but it eventually gets me where I need to go. I don't have any ideas about deliveries to Russia. In some cases, Russian citizens may travel to and from Kazakhstan using their national ID (внутренний паспорт): Нужен ли загранпаспорт в Казахстан в 2023 году: подробности (migrantvisa.ru)
  8. I know, right? Keep telling myself that. One step at a time.
  9. Update: the Consulate responded with an email with instructions to schedule an appointment. So now I need to figure out the medical part. Ugh. I'm so jealous of those who are done!
  10. Thank you, everybody! Yes, I'm trying to get in touch with the Consulate. After trying different addresses, I went to the Navigator and ended up sending an email to kzusa@state.gov for transfers in. Haven't heard anytning yet... I guess I will try to call them after all. From what I understand, I need a letter from the Consulate to schedule an appointment, but at this time I don't have anything.
  11. Also, did you translate the vaccination records for the medical exam? I didn't see anything about this on the clinic website but want to double check just in case... Silly, I know
  12. Could someone please give me an idea how long it takes from DQ to the interview? According to the NVC email, my mother's case was sent to Almaty about a month ago. When can I expect to hear from them? The interview was not scheduled by the NVC, because Almaty agreed to accept the case as an expedite. I figured not much would happen until after the holidays... Thank you!
  13. Ladies, thank you very much for checking in! My mom's case was forwarded to Almaty, so I'm waiting to hear from them. I did send a message to the 'support-kazakhstan' email address to inquire about a courier delivery of originals to the Consular section. No reply yet. I figured I'll give them some time, then try to call. There has to be a way. Another option would be to DHL to a friend's address in Almaty, but I'd prefer the docs to go directly to the Consulate.
  14. Thank you, Ana. Best of luck in Almaty! My request to transfer from NVC to Almaty was forwarded to the Consulate, so now I'm waiting for what Alamty says...
  15. Ladies, when you say "notarize", do you mean you signed the translations in front of a notary public? Also, what does "certify" mean in this context? I translate everything myself and "certify" on the bottom of the page that I'm fluent in English and Russian, and the above document is a complete and accurate translation of this or that. Worked for USCIS and NVC. I can definitely take my translations to a notary for a stamp...
  16. Congratulatons, Ineska! What a relief! 😀
  17. OK, thank you! This makes sense. I haven't researched Almaty or spoke with them yet. However, I see most people here report going to the IMC in Almaty. This makes me think the Consulate there requires a local exam.
  18. Are Russian applicants still able to have their medical exam done in Moscow? BenNomad, where is your wife's interview? I'm trying to get my mom to Almaty, and logistics would be easier, if she could have the medical taken care of in Moscow. I believe the results are good for 6 months...
  19. Ladies, quick question. How do you get original documents to your parents, if you're not flying over to assist them? Is there a way to get the originals directly to the Consulate?
  20. Thank you! This must be the standard procedure. The case goes to Poland, then we ask Almaty to initiate the tranfer. RobLesya, have you had any luck with your case?
  21. Oh goodness, I hope things haven't changed again... The Moscow Embassy website still states Almaty and Tashket for Russian IR5s. I will write to Almaty and Tashkent to verify.
  22. This is becoming interesting. The NVC promptly informed me that my mom can't travel to Almaty due to not being a citizen or resident of Kazakhstan. I re-submitted my request through their inquiry page and contacted my congressional representative. While dealing with bureaucracy is expected, incompetence is truly frustrating.
  23. Всем доброго дня! Same here. Initially, my mother's IR-5 received an MOS case number. Today, I got an automated email notifying me that the post was changed from Santiago, Chile (???) to Warsaw, Poland. At this point, the switch to Almaty should not be a problem, provided the contractor on the other side knows what they're doing. I contacted the NVC via their Public Inquiry page with a request to change the post. Anyway, I'm now waiting to hear back in a few days.
  24. My petition was approved on 8/28/2023. So... a bit faster than the 13-months committment. Now off to the NVC.
  25. Got an automated message from USCIS today saying they "took an action" on my case. Logged in to check, but the status doesn't offer much detail: As of August 26, 2023, we are actively reviewing your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number XXXXX. Our records show nothing is outstanding at this time. We will let you know if we need anything from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address. I'm willing to be optimistic and presume a specialist pulled my case from the electronic queue for review. Adjudication of a case like this does not take more than a few minutes. Come on... Any updates from anyone?
