When I originally scheduled my interview at the beginning of the year, I immediately arranged my document delivery on the website and I also chose to pay for premium delivery to my house. I paid for this 7 months ago! I think once it says “issued” it’s too late to change the delivery. I dont know if they chose purolator because of the strike though, I didn’t get a choice in anything that’s just how they delivered it to me.

Hello everyone! Today I am pleased to say this will most likely be my last update on this thread, as I’ve been issued my visa today! I wanted to post a final update for everyone in hopes that maybe my timeline can help someone else like you guys helped me. The following updates happened AFTER i attended my interview and I was given the DS5535 Form, which I returned on May 3rd (same day as my interview): may 4 (unsolicited) may 10 (unsolicited) may 28 (unsolicited) august 28 (solicited) september 5 (unsolicited) september 19 (unsolicited) october 4 (solicited-contacted congressman) october 10 (received email asking for my passport by my congressman) october 21 (consulate email asking for updated medical) october 29 (unsolicited) november 7 re-did medical exam november 12 office sent the exam to consulate november 18 (changed to case received) november 20 (case approved) november 21 (visa issued, passport mailed back) This has been such a long process for my fiancé and me, but if anyone has any questions about what we did or anything else please feel free to message me!

UPDATE: 11 days after sending my passport, the consulate themselves emailed me requesting an updated medical (I expected this as it expired on October 15 and they received my passport on October 10) and my passport. On one hand this is super annoying because I’m going to have to fly to Vancouver again for it and spend more money, on the other hand I am absolutely ELATED because this means I am so close to finally obtaining my visa!!

Hi everyone! I had my interview back in May 3rd and I was given the dreaded form and have been waiting since. I’ve had several updates since but I’m wondering if the frequency means anything or this is normal processing? it goes as follows: may 4 (unsolicited may 10 (unsolicited) may 28 (unsolicited) august 28 (solicited) september 5 (unsolicited) september 19 (unsolicited)

He’s one of the only handful of doctors in Canada who does these medical exams, i’m sure he sees hundreds of people every week and has narrowed down his process to be as fast as possible. He was really nice to me and cheerful and I didn’t really feel like he was missing anything. I was even seen like a whole hour before my scheduled time because I arrived there early so they just put me through. Sorry that your experience was like that!

My interview was on May 3rd, I sent an email to the consulate on May 4th because I forgot to include some information on the form when I filled it out, and they only just got back to me on May 28th with NOT an automated response, however the response basically only says “thanks for inquiring, your status is still refused until your AP is finished” and nothing about updating my info or adding the info to my case 🥲 oh well, an update is an update!

I guess i’m more curious because I submitted my DS5535 on that same day May 3 so it hasn’t even been a week. I thought i wouldn’t get updates for months. So i’m curious to know if seeing “updates” this early is normal and then i just have to wait like everyone else, and then after a while is when updates matter, right?

I know my case is most likely not getting approved any time soon, but how do the updates on CEAC work? When I left the consulate on May 3rd i checked and it said last updated on May 3rd. I just checked again today and it says last updated May 7th but my status remains “refused” and nothing has changed. Do the updates mean anything at all or is this normal?

You can’t just walk in, they will refuse you, they only allow people with appointments in. You need to go to https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=dFDPZv5a0UimkaErISH0Sy1YoH0qhFtLmlsn5fRWtORUMkY5TzJaNjZNSkQ2N0NESUNTQ0hRNlhGWCQlQCN0PWcu and select the option to request your passport back. It usually takes a few weeks for them to get back to you and then they’ll mail your passport back to you which will take another week or so.

DS-5535 after k-1 visa interview (montreal) Hello! I attended my interview for my k-1 visa yesterday on May 3. I’m a Canadian citizen and my fiancé is American. Everything went well, I brought more than enough documentation for everything, but once I was doing the interview I got asked if I had travelled anywhere in the last 15 years, I had already disclosed my travel history but I was born and raised in Venezuela until I was 15 years old so I mentioned that. The interviewer didn’t ask me for any documents at all, but he gave me a DS-5535 form and under the section that lists what they’re requesting of me, he just wrote “passport”. I left feeling very anxious and frustrated because until this point everything had gone smoothly for us. I wasn’t feeling the best and decided to fill out the form ASAP, and it wasn’t until this morning that I realized in my anxiety-fueled rush I only included my most recent expired venezuelan passport, and not the previous ones before that. How screwed am I? Is there anything I can do to reach out and provide this info now? I googled the form afterwards and honestly it’s freaking me out reading that people have been waiting 10+ months for a response. I am devastated and haven’t stopped crying since then 😕

Leaving a review of my experience to hopefully help others after me! Medical Exam date: April 18, 2024 @ 9:00am Cost: $355 for my age range, plus $50 for a TDAP booster & $47 for tracked courier delivery of some documents to my house Booking the appointment: I emailed the office directly after received my packet 4 email with all the documents they require, you can find this information on their website, make sure you’ve received your packet 4 email first and that you’ve booked an interview appointment as they will ask for confirmation for both. They responded to me immediately and I was able to book my appointment for about a month away from that day. They respond very quickly and if you have any questions they’ll answer anything you need. Appointment day: I flew in from Calgary really early and landed at 6:30am at the Vancouver airport, rented a car and drove down to Surrey. It only took about 30 min to get to the office from the airport, it was really easy and there was no traffic. I arrived around 7:45am, and decided to go in to ask some questions about my vaccines as I only had one dose of the Varicella and they ask for two. Since I was already there they actually told me they would take all my documents and start the process right away. They asked for my 5 passport photos, my passport, my drivers license, my covid vaccination records, as well as my other vaccination records. My records are all in spanish and I translated them on a google doc and printed that to bring, I showed them the original plus the translation and they took both to double check everything matched and make copies of everything. They gave me a form to fill and then returned all my documents afterwards, then they let me know I was actually missing a TDAP booster since it had been more than 10 years since my last dose, and I chose to get it there so I paid $50 for that. I sat down and waited a bit longer, then I got called in to the room. Dr. Cheema was really nice and went through the short list of questions really quickly, he listened to my lungs, took my blood pressure, then palpated my stomach, and finally gave me the TDAP booster before sending me on my way. I was finished by 8:45am, 15 min before my official appointment time, and then had to wait 15min after the vaccine before I could leave. The blood test is by appointment only and the office will make it for you and give you the time, the lab is right next to the office so you can walk there. I headed to my blood test appointment and I had to wait a bit as it was busy but I was out by 9:45. Then I drove down the road to the x-ray lab which is walk-in only, and despite being busy I was seen basically right away. I missed my turn into the parking lot so I wasted some time turning around, but I was finished with the whole process a few minutes before 11am. All in all it was really quick and easy. Total time: around 3 hours and 15min. What I learned: Hepatitis A is not required. Tdap is required within the last 10 years (I got it at the office) Varicella requires two doses, if you do not have both or records of both, you can get your family physician to get bloodwork done to test for immunity. If it is reactive, you are immune. An additional dose if needed at the office would have been $95.00 CAD, but if you’ve had chickenpox before you just need to tell them what year you had it, no proof necessary. They provide you with a CD (for border crossing) and vaccination record (for AOS) by mail - you can choose courier (free and not tracked), or tracked courier (depends on where you live but I paid $47), they told me both of these are not required for the interview. Once results are sent to the US embassy, you will receive an email stating so.

K1 Visa Medical Exam Review for Dr. Gulzar Cheema in Surrey, BC - April 2024
mariagomez replied to inbriars's topic in Canada
Thank you for the review! How is the parking around the office? is it street parking only? I'm going in for my exam tomorrow but mine is at 9am so I'm worried about finding parking. Also, thank you for the info about the varicella vaccine, I just realized I only got one dose as a child so I will have to pay for it there, good to know beforehand though. -
Hello! I received the Packet 3 for the K1 visa with the required checklist to complete. I have gathered most of the required items but I am a bit confused about one of the items, specifically the "Canadian immigration documents". I am an immigrant to Canada, I'm a citizen now but I've only been a citizen since 2017, I landed with a PR in 2012. What do they mean by immigration documents? Do I need to provide my PR landing document? My SIN? My citizenship certificate? Please help! Thanks!
