  1. Maybe someone can answer this. What does the embassy actually do after they receive the DS5535 back? My case status is still refused (obviously) but has had the "last updated" change every single day this week.
  2. Sorry you're in this mess with us - send them an e-mail asap to let them know you're waiting. Took 2 emails over 3 weeks for them to respond and send it. It really makes me wonder what the heck is going in Montreal 😔 if only they asked more relevant questions then and there.
  3. I know! We spoke to a lawyer and discussed all the details and they were also perplexed. Their only thought was maybe a name hit and to wait until 6-8 weeks have passed so that the embassy does the processing. 🤞
  4. Followed-up with the consulate - now we wait! Hopefully it does not take too long. The silver lining is that I can still travel to the US to see my wife - a border agent and their superior told me I just need to give proof of ties to canada (work docs, pay stubs, etc.) if they ever ask when crossing the border. The interviewer had said the border agents would probably give me trouble 🤷‍♂️
  5. No update as of yet - status was last updated March 23rd (day after interview) and shows up as Refused. I have not received any email with additional requests nor have I heard back from the consulate. What do you mean by AIS? I did not receive any requests to send documents, yet.
  6. New member to this group. At the interview (Montreal Consulate), I was issued a 221(g) white slip and my passport was returned to me on the spot. The officer told me they had all the documents they needed and the white slip says: "Supplemental questions will be sent to you by email. Passport". Also, the signature space was left blank by the officer 😐. Interview was March 22nd, shouldn't I have received the form already?
  7. It's not there and I check regularly - is it uncommon to wait this long for that form? Or could it just be an indication that it's not that? My status was updated on March 22nd and 23rd but no difference in either and says refused (both dates).
  8. I'm not really sure why - there's very little in my background to indicate anything. Questions asked were: Who my sponsor is When and how I met my wife City and state where my wife lives What my spouse and I do for work Longest trip in the US Travel outside of Canada in the past 5 years I was given the white slip after that We got married almost 2 years after meeting, we have a 6yr age gap. She was a student and now works for a startup in the US and will start working at a consulting firm in a few weeks in the US and I work in a finance-related position for a law firm in Canada.
  9. Yes - Canadian, born and raised here, never lived or worked anywhere else.

  11. Hello, Quick question and excuses for not finding the answer. I am about to have my GC interview and will then need to travel to USA for a few days for an event and then back to Canada for a few weeks to tie loose ends before making my way down. The assumption is that I will receive my passport with the stamp prior to traveling to the USA the first time. Do I trigger anything by crossing into the USA? Am I obligated to give the packet to the CBP officer? Does it change anything if I cross with my Nexus instead? Will I be able to go back to Canada before receiving the plastic green card and re-enter the USA with no issues or am I stuck waiting for it? Thanks in advance!
