  1. If a minor (under 10) was tried to be brought into the U.S. illegally by an adult, then caught and turned around, will he, now as an adult, be ineligible to apply legally for a visa? Or will that prior incident be held against the person in consideration of Visa grant? Thanks!
  2. While I appreciate all the replies, many have failed to read clearly my original post where I state that my mother is in mental decline. She is unable to retain information and exhibits other metal deficiencies. There is no "more to this story." However, I have gathered from all of these replies that there MUST be a letter from a medical professional, and there's no way around that. Thanks all!
  3. Hello, Wondering if I could get some advice about this. My mother is 77 years old. She's been a US legal resident for almost 50 years, with a green card. She's never been in trouble with the law in ANY way. Her wish now is to become a US Citizen. My father is a US Citizen and has been for a long time. I believe the reason she never attempted is due to her lack of education and therefore, lack of confidence to take and pass the test. She is in mental decline now. We cannot find her a psychiatric doctor in our area due to insurance. The reason I mention this is that I know that if I could get a psychiatrist to fill out some USCIS paperwork, she would get a waiver on having to take the test. But I cannot. She does have a regular doctor, though. In this situation, how can I apply for my mother's US Citizenship and somehow get a test waiver for her? Could I write a letter with the application stating her situation? Or, is she at an age where they might just waive the test anyway? Any advice appreciated. Thank you
  4. Thanks, all that tells me is that they received my application, and it's in process.
  5. Well that's the thing, I don't know what processed means in terms of what step THEY are in. It could be that the first thing they do is automatically cancel the prior number as part of the process, but the process isn't complete.
  6. Hello, I lost my US Passport. I applied for a new one, but forgot to file a lost report with the passport agency. They sent me a letter saying to resend an application with the lost passport report. I found my passport. What I want to see if anyone here knows is; once you apply for a new passport(having lost the one you had), does the prior one get discontinued, even if the full process isn't complete yet? Or do you think I can just go about using the found passport, which is not expired. I know I can write a letter to the passport agency, but they take over a month to answer, and when I call the "help" line at NPIC they NEVER EVER pick up. And the NPIC email is just responding with unhelpful canned info. I thought there might have been a place online where once could validate one's passport number. But I haven't found such place in USCIS/Dept of States sites. But I'll probably end up writing a letter to them if no info here. Thanks in advance!
  7. My elderly mother was visiting the Dominican Republic and she has lost her Green Card. I have filled an I-90 form for her. But not sure what's next. Does she need to go to the US Embassy there and bring the I-90 along with other documentation so she can get some kind of letter for her to travel back to the US or is there some other process? Thanks
