    Update to this old post. I ended up buying a fully refundable ticket over 1 month in advance to get a good deal. Interview went well and received our visa within 5 days after interview. Glad we planned ahead to save a little time and money. Wish everyone still waiting the best of luck. Was a super long process, but glad it is over.

    What are the steps for purchasing a plane ticket for my fiancée thru the K1 visa. Can we purchase the ticket before she has the actual visa in hand or do we have to wait to have that before booking ticket? Want to try and get ticket as much time in advance to be cheaper. We are in final steps of process and about to do interview. Thanks

    The medical instructions came with the email I received from embassy today. Guessing this is packet 3. Doesn’t have a title or anything, just an email with list of everything to do to move forward. congrats on “ready” status

    Look into your specific embassy/region for interview instructions. For mine you have to wait and schedule it. Others schedule for you.

    Yes you can submit your DS-160 form. You can’t schedule medical until you receive packet 4 with instructions from embassy.

    Yes the regional forums are great for the embassy phase I’m seeing. Mine changed to “in transit” the same day I got my email with new nvc case number. Hope you see some progress soon.

    Thank you for your reply. I just emailed my embassy, hoping to hear something soon. I asked for further instructions for packet #3 and for scheduling interview. Will update when I hear a response. My timeline is updated now.

    Thank you for your reply. I did look in my regional forum and received an answer. In my embassy’s case you have to contact them. My case was “in transit” for 8 days before it changed to “ready.”

    Thank you, yes I figured it out. There are 2 different ceac portals for nvc.

    When logging into ceac it asks for an invoice number in addition to the nvc case number. Where is this invoice number found? Not seeing anything on the email I got from nvc with case number. Won’t let me log in without it. Thanks

    Did you write an affidavit and get notarized about not being able to obtain the Saudi certificate of police clearance? I am at this stage right now and just read about not being able to get a certificate there if not a resident. Thanks

    If a country you lived in doesn’t provide a police clearance certificate, you have to fill out an affidavit and get it notarized stating that the certificate can’t be obtained. Basically I’m curious if anyone has dealt with this and if there is some sort of template to use to write the affidavit? Thanks

    With the way timelines seem to be going for most people you will wait between 60-90 days before your case even leaves uscis after noa2. Then another 3 weeks once case is received by nvc before you get a case number.
