Hey there. I renewed my passport 7 months ago while in AP for DS5535. I DID NOT send the consulate any information about my new passport. When the consulate emailed me requesting my passport last month I simply sent both my new passport and old passport with a little hand written note attached explaining that my previous passport had expired.

Shout out to all who have been requested their passport by the Consulate. Its coming for everyone soon!! Question to those who have sent in their documents. On the https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/iv/information/contact_us website. Have you all updated your information like your new DS-260 number, address . .ect? TIA

I agree but this is the way the system works. Dealing with millions of immigration applications every year I’m sure brings unique challenges and these nets that we get caught up in are there to filter out potential bad actors. It sucks that we as legit applications get thrown into the dungeon but I myself do have a certain understanding of why things are the way they are. Just my opinion. For sure you’re almost there!! Yep, 15 months seems to be the mark right now at least. A bunch of people on here are getting so close. I second this. Exact same thing happened me.

Hey thank you. We filed in June 2023 and it was dismissed. We filed again in September 2023 and it was also dismissed. We didn't fight either motion to dismiss so our passport request has come organically.

Well that sounds great!! Do you mind sharing where you applied for it? The initial police clearance I got I went to an accredited fingerprinting company. Just wondering what the absolute fastest way is for me to get it!! TIA

Oh I wanted to ask anyone who’s had to get the police certificate. Does it really take 4-6 weeks to receive it in the mail? Or is there a a way to get it sooner than that? TIA

Hi folks. Wanted to share the good news that we got the long awaited email to send the consulate my passport and complete a medical and police certificate. I also have to update my DS-260 form. I had sent an email to them requesting an update on April 30th. Never received a response to that email, only an Update on May 23rd, followed up with updates on May 28th, June 6th, June 11th and June 12th. And then the email on June 14th. Lucky for us it progressed pretty quickly. it’s a tough road and I honestly feel so sorry for everyone on here being in this dreadful situation. It’s been over 15 months since my interview and probably the toughest 15 months in my life being apart from my wife. The only thing I can say is that your time will come guys. It’s a waiting game no matter whether you file a WOM or choose not to it’s still months upon months waiting for answers but just know that it’s coming to you. It’s just a matter of time!! If any one has any questions feel free to dm me!! Stay strong everyone!!

Hey there folks. I had sent the consulate an email on April 30th. On May 23rd I got an update on CEAC and waited for the consulate to email their boilerplate response. It never came. I then got another update on May 28th and again waited for an email. Still haven’t received an email yet. Not sure what significance any of these updates have as they were triggered by my email on April 30th. I do know one person who also emailed the consulate on April 30th and recieved the boilerplate response on May 23rd. And oddly enough Superluminal sent an email on April 30th and also recieved updates on May 23 and 28th.

Thanks for your reply. This helps the group immensely. I think your visa category F2-A has a priority date that has to become current before you would get the passport request. Just want to clarify that you've been in AP for 25 months based on your march 2022 interview? And in the DS-5535 queue for around 21/22 months since July 2022. can you confirm for the group? Also do you mind sharing if the consulates request for your passport/medical etc came unexpectedly or had you noticed multiple updates on your case after you emailed them? Just trying to confirm the sequence of events that lead to passport requests from the consulate for the benefit of the group. TIA

No unsolicited updates for us unfortunately.

From previous Visajourney users I’ve seen that waited over a year, most were asked by the consulate to update their DS-260 form along with submitting their passport and medical.

Have you had some unsolicited or solicited updates in the last 1-2 months? Have you emailed the consulate often during your time waiting? Sorry for all the questions but it’s so helpful to hear how people’s journeys have progressed before getting passport requests and such. TIA.

Just Daftcat I think. I’ve had updates that correspond with email replies. Superluminal has received an unsolicited update a couple weeks ago as far as we know and is our new hopeful case.

Filed one in 2023 and got MTD in November. We didn’t fight it.

Hey, I just received word for word the same response to an email I sent a couple weeks ago. Not sure what to make of it to be honest. "Additional security screening is being conducted" to me means DS-5535 is still ongoing but there's definitely a more negative and stern undertone to this response.

That's a good idea. Do you get to see how long they've been in AP?
