  1. Just to add to the above, it looks as though you are Nigerian and have a CR1 visa application underway? So your chances are very low of being granted a visitor visa IMO, if you don't have one already. You may need to get your spouse to visit you instead. Good luck.
  2. I don't think it's out of the ordinary though, I'd imagine most countries are the same and the marriage certificate will suffice. Same as if somebody got divorced and decided to revert back to their maiden name, there's usually no proof of that other than the divorce cert either. I'd just give them everything you've got. "For purposes of requesting immigration benefits, a married person may use a legal married name (spouse’s surname), a legal pre-marriage name, or any form of either (for example, hyphenated name, pre-married name or spouse’s surname). Requestors must submit legal documentation, such as that listed below, to show that the name used is the requestor’s legal name: Civil marriage certificate; Divorce decree; Family registry; Country identity document; Foreign birth certificate; Certificate of naming; or Court order." Good luck.
  3. Yep. When I changed my name due to marriage in the UK I had no court order or proof of it other than my marriage cert (which is in my maiden name). OP, just submit what you do have and that should be fine. You can look at the NVC web page to see if anything different will be required for that stage and/or the visa interview, but obviously you're decades away from that point anyway so it may change between now and then. Good luck.
  4. Yes, they do change, it often switches around depending on various factors - including bank holidays, and of course they had two in May and have another in June so that may affect things. But it's generally always once a month (I think there were a couple of occasions they did two lots of IL's in a month, but very rare), so at some point in the next few weeks anyway. Good luck.
  5. No, you can’t work on that visa. I’m confused by your question about him searching for jobs - surely he already has one? He will work for the employer that has petitioned for him.
  6. As I said in the post above that you've part quoted "But I’m guessing there’s a reason you can’t do that?". If China actually requires people to prove that before they let them leave the country (🤯), then that's the reason isn't it.
  7. What do you mean do people easily get a job in finance in the US? He must have a job to go to for the visa, and his employer should be supplying the lawyer. He'll be asked questions about that job, his education, skills, experience etc. And yes, you must be married if you want to go on a H4.
  8. Says I-130 in posts above, so spousal visa, think the K1 on the profile must an error.
  9. Thread is for EB2 applicants applying via London. Not sure of DQ date though. HTH.
  10. If you applied for his I-130 online he'll have two IOE numbers, but you need to use the one from his green card fee payment. Sounds like you're using the one from his I-130 which is why it's telling you the case has been sent to NVC. If you enter the one from his green card payment receipt you'll get a status that says something like 'card was sent for production' or 'card was mailed' etc, so it will tell you what's going on with it. Not sure how long ago you paid the fee and/or they entered the US, but it can also take up to 90 days to receive the card after that. Good luck.
  11. As above, there isn't really an average as it's very dependent on how quickly each applicant moves and completes the required NVC steps. Once you are DQ'ed though, it'll be about a month or two to receive the IL. You can prepare by making sure you have a way to pay the fees as that can trip people up who aren't expecting having to pay with a US source, and also making sure you have all your civil docs ready to go so that as soon as you have your Welcome Letter, you can get started. Luckily London is very quick (at least for those are don't have any ties to other more complex countries i.e. UK born and never lived anywhere higher risk), so it shouldn't be too long if you can get everything submitted asap. Good luck.
  12. If it's only been a week since your I-140 was approved then it's too soon to be expecting the Welcome Letter. See the NVC timelines, currently about 6 weeks for case creation - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html How long it takes before you get your IL will depend largely on you and how quickly you submit your civil docs etc. Good luck.
  13. Sounds like you're using the wrong case number - you need to use the receipt number from when the green card fee was paid (will start with IOE). It'll be on the email receipt. Edit: also sounds like you're using CEAC, but you need to use the USCIS case status site - https://egov.uscis.gov Put the receipt number in there and it should tell you what's happening with the GC.
  14. Now I can see you're UK and spousal visa - you won't get an envelope, and you should have your passport back within a week. I had my interview in London on the Monday afternoon, it turned to issued almost instantly, and passport was back with visa in it by the Thursday so 4 days in total.
  15. It depends on the visa type. Employment based get an envelope, family based don't as it's done electronically. As for passport return, that will depend on the consulate but usually within a week. If you can fill in your profile then people will be able to see your visa type and consulate when you post.
  16. Flagged for what? Telling the truth and then leaving the US on time? You didn't do anything wrong. You are seriously overthinking all of this.
  17. They may well know about it but so what? Again, what you did isn't an issue at all, you didn't do anything wrong.
  18. Everything you've queried on your threads. Your visa application history, your salary, your funds etc etc - but basically whatever you're asked about. Just apply and go to the interview and be honest if asked about anything, that's it.
  19. On what? You've been told several times to just apply, and tell the truth. There's nothing else anybody can add to that.
  20. You can search timelines on the forum, here's the most recent case I can find (approx 5 months to get an interview). https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=428330 Please fill in your own timeline to help those that come after you, thanks. Good luck.
  21. A lot of people don't understand that though, so it's a double check. But even if it is current, without knowing your PD we don't know *when* it became current. If it became current a year ago, then you've been in the queue for an interview for a year. If it only become current at the start of May, then your time in the queue has only just started. And we don't know if it's retrogressed since becoming current either. So without that info it's hard to say, but my very vague guess is that you may get an IL next year. Don't worry if your timeline is complicated, just put the pertinent dates in, you can use other EB applicants profiles (i.e. mine) as a guide. Good luck.
  22. OK, so definitely that will have cleared by now (I don't think the DS-260 would be available to you until they have anyway). But you need to do the DS-260 next, then the civil docs option should 'unlock' for you. Good luck.
  23. They definitely need civil docs uploaded, but you may well need to do the DS-260 before that becomes available to you, that's the next step. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-6-complete-online-visa-application.html When did you pay the fee?
  24. I don't know if there is one, I don't recall which it is if so (there is a help button for most fields). But everybody's DQ will take a different amount of time depending on how quickly they submit their docs etc, so it's maybe not so useful for those looking at timelines anyway. If you can complete the other fields that are USCIS/NVC/consulate dependent, those are the most important. Many thanks.
  25. Please take the time to fill in your timelines - there are so few of us EB applicants around, so we need every one we can get! It's so helpful for others going though the same process, the more data we have the better. Thanks.
