  1. It might be worth applying for one if you have time? Then your UK credit score will be used.
  2. The consulate isn’t relevant, it’s not passed over to London until you’ve got an interview. Not sure what you mean ‘NVC approval’, do you mean USCIS (your I-130/I-140)? Processing times are updated weekly here - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html But what kind of application is it? The above assumes you don’t have a wait for your Priority Date to become current.
  3. Top tip, if you click on somebody’s profile then you’ll (hopefully) find their timeline. Looks like it was July 2022. Please fill in your timeline to help others too, thanks. 🙂
  4. Do you have an Amex card in the UK? If so you can open a new account in the US using your account history there. That got me a $15k credit limit & a 700+ score within a week of arriving in the US. https://www.americanexpress.com/us/customer-service/global-card-relationship/
  5. It’s because you’re in AP, so your case isn’t standard and you aren’t yet in line for an interview.
  6. Assume you’ve done the financial docs wizard? Follow whatever that says. Payslips aren’t usually required. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents.html You only need to upload the marriage certificate under your docs. Make sure you check the country specifics list as well - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html Good luck.
  7. What kind of document are you asking about - the immigration side of things i.e. proof of her US citizenship, or the permission to take her out of the country side of things?
  8. See your previous thread - depends on when you were DQ'ed, please do fill in your timeline or give more info.
  9. No, you'll just have your tracking to show they were delivered, you don't get anything from NVC other than a RFE or DQ email. Good luck.
  10. So hopefully you’re about half way through. Then the wait for the next stage will depend on how quickly you can submit docs (it’s worth getting them ready as you approach the time you expect your I-130 to be approved, particularly things like police certs if applicable, as they can take a while to obtain), and which consulate you’re applying for the visa at. Waits for an interview can be as quick as 2 months, or as long as 2 years. I hope you’re at one of the quicker ones. Good luck.
  11. The only option I’ve ever heard about is scrapping categories for all relatives except immediate ones. Trump talked about ending ‘chain migration’, dont know if he would if he gets a second term.
  12. Just realised I should have said - your nationality is only possibly relevant if you were born somewhere else that has a separate category on the Visa Bulletin i.e. Mexico or Philippines. But Canadian citizenship makes no difference.
  13. 1. No. Your nationality has no relevance. 2. Yes, just make sure you take proof of ties to Canada so you have them if questioned upon entry. Good luck.
  14. I’m not really sure what you mean. ‘Normal’ AP is usually only a few hours, a day max. Longer than that and it means they’re checking something out. The visa category has nothing to do with it either way.
  15. But that's my point - it's not linear. It could speed up, or stop, or anywhere in between. If your PD is 3 years ahead of the current VB, you can't assume it will be another 3 years until it's current. The only target is the number of visas issued each year, but there's no target for the Visa Bulletin dates, as it will depend on how many people are ahead of you in the line.
  16. That's perfect normal, it's never linear. You can't expect it to move a year for every year, it's actually been a lot quicker in the past year than usual. It didn't move at all for the 2 years before that.
  17. What do you mean ‘what if they touched me’, did they? I assume you’re over 18? So of course they can interview you alone, you’re an adult. And yes, they can search your phone. As @Boiler said, it sounds like you’ve been working when you shouldn’t have been. You can’t do freelance work on a tourist visa, no matter where your clients are. All you can do now is leave well before your period of authorised stay, and then stay out a longer time before trying to return. And don’t do any work whilst you’re there! And you say your Dad isn’t planning on settling in the US for ‘a year or so’. Does he have a re-entry permit? If not he should get one, his own status is at risk by staying outside of the US for so long, and now that will be on his record too so he should expect more scrutiny if he leaves again. When did they get their green cards?
  18. They say to allow 2 weeks, but it's usually quicker - mine was back in 4 days (interview Monday, passport with visa delivered Thursday). Just bear in mind that you could be put in to AP, so definitely don't book flights before you get the visa in hand, unless they're fully flexible. Good luck.
  19. We weren't, we did ask but had to join the visa line.
  20. It could be anything, no way of knowing. It could be that one of his family members has been flagged for extra checks, or he shares a name with somebody that is of interest and they need to confirm it's not the same person, or that they just want to dig a little deeper on him. AP just takes as long as it takes unfortunately, could be a month or a year. All you can do it wait and hope it's not too much longer, best of luck.
  21. OK, so no visa is available to them yet. Not sure if it'll become current next month, you can check, if not just keep an eye on it. Once their PD is current they'll be added to the line for an interview, it's about 7-8 months wait judging from other threads on VJ. Good luck.
  22. You won’t be allowed in the green card holder/citizens line usually (we certainly weren’t, at Boston). So you’ll be in the same line as last time as you have a visa. Once you get seen though, it’s pretty quick. It was maybe 10 minutes for us? But I’d certainly allow as much time as possible just in case of a flight delay followed by a long wait for immigration. Good luck.
  23. What kind of visa and what’s the Priority Date?
