The official timescales page says they're working on applications received on 5th Dec, but as I said above you do have to add a bit of time as you mailed your docs. I'd guess maybe another 4/5 days, hopefully not long at all. Keep an eye on your junk folder in case the email goes in to there. Good luck.

Not really sure why you've tagged me - I didn't have a sponsor as mine was a self sponsored green card with no financial requirements, so not a clue on tax docs! My guess would be that it won't be an issue as their tax ID won't have changed even if their name has, and to provide the proof of name change just in case. But hopefully somebody with more knowledge will be along to help at some point, good luck.

Yep, this. If you've applied under EB2 NIW you must have specialist skills that are in demand, but even so you may struggle to find a job offer without being in the US. Top tips: - make sure your LinkedIn profile is up to date and sells you well, and make contact with people in your field ahead of arrival and ask them just to meet you for a coffee, bring plenty of funds with you (everything costs more than you think it will, and you'll need health insurance before you find a job), and make sure you research where in the US would be best for your particular occupation. You presumably ticked the box on the DS-260 to get your SSN issued as soon as you arrive in the US, so it'll be with you in a couple of weeks (mine was about a week). Good luck.

NVC doesn't schedule the medical, you have to do that yourself. And yes, if you don't have proof of all the vaccines, you can have them done either yourself before the medical, or at the medical. There were quite a few vaccines we needed to have done and just got them done on the day at the medical appointment. It's not cheap though just to warn you!

You do need to add on a bit of time to that as we have to mail documents, unlike most applicants who just upload them. So I'd assume nearer a couple of weeks for EB applicants (from when the docs are delivered).

Everybody has AP for some period of time, for some people that can go on for weeks/months/even years, but for most it's super quick and is just the final checks they do before they print your visa. Mine was only in AP for a couple of hours before it changed to 'issued'. As long as there's nothing that would warrant a longer AP (i.e. ties to a high risk country, etc), then hopefully it will change to issued really quickly. Good luck.

That's not relevant. In a high risk country, you need to do everything you can to prove it's a legit relationship, and not seeing each other in person for over 2 years is a huge red flag.

Surely that's up to her? She needs to decide what she wants to do, it's to something you can do for her - it's her visa application. And all you can do is carry on and submit applications for the rest of you as normal, and hope her overstay doesn't cause any issues. Good luck.

It might well do. But what does 'in the process of applying' mean? What stage are you at? And who exactly is on the application and how old are they? Your mother is happy to live apart from the rest of you? And potentially not be able to visit? If she isn't bothered about being in the US then she needs to leave asap, before she gets a ban.

More info is needed to help you. Is this a DV lottery case? Who was the principal applicant? Which country? When was your interview and when did the rest of your family get their visas issued?

Unlikely that was it, only certain occupations will have an agent, anybody applying in a STEM field (as I did) won’t have one. It was the most ‘senior’ reference I provided so that could have been the reason why he was chosen for a check.

I didn’t have an agent or future employer. It was a referee.

They usually just do background checks on them but they certainly can do - one of mine was contacted for both my O and EB1 visa apps (strangely the same person each time). He was phoned I think.

Ditto. Even my own family are a stretch after a couple of weeks. The thought of my mother-in-law staying for longer than that would fill me with dread. 😂
