  1. 'Not a good thing to do' is a bit of an understatement! It's immigration fraud and could result in her being banned from the US. As above, can she not wait elsewhere, where is she from, is Canada an option?
  2. Update from me - changed to 'card was mailed' today, so that's taken 11 days.
  3. Might be too early to say - a lot of consulates only send them out once at the end of the month. Have you had yours?
  4. The pros on VB reckon it will be affected as people try and qualify for EB1 to avoid the EB2 backlog. But time will tell I guess. I'm sure you'll be DQ'ed soon and London was super quick with everything for us in May/June/July so hopefully you'll have it all through asap. Just add on a few days for the usual expected DQ date as EB applicants have to mail their docs in, so it's usually a week or so longer than the standard time. Good luck!
  5. OK, just posted in the wrong section then. Hopefully a kind mod will move it for you.
  6. Follow the links given in your previous thread - You've posted this in the section for LPR's sponsoring family- are you a green card holder or citizen?
  7. It induced a brief moment of panic for me as I had my interview in July so I panicked and thought it would be cancelled - then I realised my PD was well before (Feb 2023) anyway. 😂 Mike E said to me at some point that he thought I'd squeezed my application in just before the EB backlog that he was anticipating, hopefully you've done the same. This article is quite interesting, it's been linked to on VB a couple of times. https://immigration.net/2023/06/15/the-coming-apocalypse-for-employment-based-immigrantswhat-the-current-backlog-in-perm-labor-certifications-dol-prevailing-wage-requests-and-pending-and-approved-i-140s-means-for-future-visa-b/
  8. There's a different section specifically for the SSN, you tick a box to say you want it sent automatically after you enter on the immigrant visa. But yes, you can provide an updated address for the green card at the interview, we did the same thing as we didn't have a house when we applied so just used my office address. I typed it up and printed it out and took it with me, the officer updated it during the interview.
  9. We'd ticked the box on the DS-260 to ask for one to be sent to us. I don't actually know how long it took, as it was waiting at our rental house when we arrived there - but that was 10 days after we entered the US. So it was definitely received at some point in the 10 days between us arriving in Boston and then picking up our mail at the new house. The only thing was that 3 of us had the SSN's, and my 18 year old daughter didn't. We waited another couple of weeks and then went to an office, and they told her it was because there is another person with exactly the same name and DOB in the US already, so somebody had decided she didn't need another SSN and cancelled her application - even though she is actually a different person. 😂 But once we'd sorted that out, hers arrived within about a week. HTH.
  10. If it’s a question about citizenship processing timelines then you’d likely get more responses in that forum - https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/114-us-citizenship-general-discussion/ Lots going through the process there that should be able to help. Good luck.
  11. You’d be better off asking in the relevant forum, not sure many will have experience on a thread about F2A applicants.
  12. Cards can take months to arrive but they’re not needed as the IV serves as your green card for a year once you’ve entered on it and it’s been stamped. I already had a job and an O visa, we only got green cards so that my teenage children could work and stay if they wanted - my daughter has been working at our local Starbucks for several weeks already. We’ve also opened bank accounts, got learners permits etc, with no problems at all.
  13. Mine changed a few days before yours but the status still says the same thing and no sign of it yet. I’m keeping an eye on Informed Delivery as well as I gather it sometimes doesn’t update with the tracking info on USCIS. I’ll let you know if they turn up this week.
  14. The dates he’s mentioned are EB2. EB1 is current again as it’s the new fiscal year, I’ve never known it not current in the last few years so when it retrogressed in July it was a bit of a shock! We’ll see how long it stays current, the forum pros reckon all EB categories will be struggling more for numbers as time goes on (see the EB2 NIW thread).
  15. Nowhere close unfortunately, even with the new fiscal year. Have you got your PERM yet? https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2024/visa-bulletin-for-october-2023.html
  16. @Mike E predicts that all EB categories will have increased demand and therefore much longer wait times going forward. I'm hoping for every EB applicant's sake that he's wrong (sorry Mike!).
  17. I know it might seem like common sense to you, but plenty of people who live outside the US decide to stay and apply via AOS whilst on a visit. They can't just assume that you weren't trying to do the same..
  18. They’re not ‘magically’ eliminating them. They’re being eliminated because their PD has retrogressed, or their job offer has been pulled, or their sponsor has died etc, etc. Family based visas may not have retrogressed but employment based did, so that’s a big number suddenly not eligible for an interview and pulled from the queue.
  19. t’s not 7% of 25,260, that is the 7% figure (total is 366,000). It’s up to each consulate how they choose to allocate visas and what IV categories to prioritise.
  20. You’re looking at last months report, not the current one. The 275k figure mentioned is from this months. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/visas-backlog.html The backlog is clearing, albeit slowly. The problem is that it’s clearing immediate relatives, employment based IV’s etc. The other family categories just don’t have enough available visas compared to the number of applicants to make any meaningful progress with the backlog for their categories.
  21. Islamabad is processing them, you can see that on the the monthly statistics. It’s just that far more people apply for them than there are visas available.
  22. Table B applies to those applying via Consular Processing as well. They can also submit their documents, complete the DS-260, pay their fees etc, if their PD is before 01 Jan 2023. They just won’t be scheduled for an interview or be granted a visa if their PD isn’t current, same as those applying via AOS.
  23. The good news is the October VB is out, the bad news is that unfortunately neither F1 nor F2B have moved at all.
  24. OK, so the PD isn't current yet whichever category you're in - see the dates on the Visa Bulletin link above. No visa is available for your sister yet and no interview will be scheduled until it's current. As Boiler said, keep an eye out, the October bulletin should be released any day now. Good luck.
  25. Yup, hopefully soon. If she's informed them she's a citizen and uploaded the cert can she still retain the current category or will she automatically be moved over now?
