  1. @Boiler is saying that if your father does choose to naturalise, you can opt out of moving to F1 category and stay in F2B category instead if it would be advantageous. The section about ‘Naturalization of the Petitioner in Family Preference Cases’ in this link explains it - https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/child-status-protection-act-cspa
  2. The CPSA is Federal isn’t it, why would it depend on circuit?
  3. That's because NVC will still have your file, it won’t be transferred to the consulate until they’re ready to schedule your interview. Nothing to do but wait I’m afraid, hopefully the backlog will drop so fingers crossed this time next year you’ll be near the front of the queue - keep an eye on the thread above for info on how it’s going. Good luck.
  4. Yes. If somebody ‘ages out’ of the F2A category then they move to the F2B category.
  5. As above, still a long wait ahead due to the backlog at Islamabad. This thread will be useful - Good luck.
  6. Will the case still be open after a decade though? I thought there was a year deadline before they were closed, or does that not matter as there still won’t be a visa available for a long time?
  7. In addition to the wait for your PD to become current as mentioned above, Montreal has one of the worst backlogs in the world, so even if current you’ll be waiting a lot longer than 3-6 months for an interview date. I’m surprised your lawyer isn’t aware of that either.
  8. London is usually pretty strict and just being a citizen isn’t enough, you do have to be resident there. So you can try but I wouldn’t get your hopes up. What is your PD, is it current?
  9. Ah, ok. Definitely not December then if your PD isn’t current until the Jan bulletin, you won’t be added to the queue until there’s a visa available to you. So hopefully Jan IL for a Feb interview. Good luck.
  10. We already know it's not current next month, as the VB for January has been released. Personally if I had to guess (and it really is just a guess) I don't see it becoming current anytime soon.
  11. Depends on if you're in a rush really - you can delay the interview but may end up waiting longer in the end if you do that. Personally, I'd still go to the interview and then they'll just hold approval until anything missing is received. But if the medical appointment is on 10th Jan then it shouldn't take until 24th Jan for them to be received by the consulate, they're sent electronically and usually pretty quick (ours were received 2 days after the medical). Good luck.
  12. She should definitely have it by now, as above you need to track it using the case status website (with the receipt number from the GC fee). See what that says. If the status is stuck on 'fee was paid', then you need to fill in this form to get things moving and find out what's wrong - https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayNDCForm.do?entryPoint=init&sroPageType=ndc It might be that she has to redo her biometrics or photo or something like that (same thing happened to my daughter, her GC never arrived and it was because her photo wasn't acceptable so had to be redone). But don't panic, her endorsement on her IV in her passport is good as a temporary GC for a year.
  13. Which country is the police cert for? And what questions are they asking about your husband?
  14. No, just those ones wouldn’t be sufficient, you do need the rest (except varicella if you are from the UK), you won’t get the visa otherwise. Visa Medicals won’t give them all to you in one day if you don’t have any, as it’s just too many. So you’d be better off getting at least some before your medical, then you can have the rest done there.
  15. Ghana’s a couple of years from DQ to IL I believe. But you can search the forum for timelines and relevant threads. This one may be a good place to start -
  16. For the step by step guide you need this webpage - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition/step-2-begin-nvc-processing.html
  17. Maybe 20 years or so, if her son is 11 now he’ll have aged out by the time she gets a visa. Only certain relatives can sponsor, if you’re the only eligible one then you’ll have to petition her.
  18. Same answer as the last time you asked this question, you must be living in the US -
  19. Not sure about flight insurance, but most airlines let you pay extra for a flexible ticket which is strongly advised, just in case it all takes much longer (i.e. she's put in AP at interview).
  20. Yes, that's fine. No need for the plastic green card at all in the first year, so you can just get it when you return to the US rather than risk a friend sending it. Just get them to keep it safe for you for when you return - and make sure you don't stay out too long. Good luck.
  21. I'm sure they do, but you only posted 9 hours ago and it's 5 days before Christmas so most people are super busy! Patience is a virtue as my grandmother used to say…. I'm sure somebody will be along to help at some point (I myself have no clue). Good luck.
  22. Could be anything, just staffing levels for that particular day, or other expedited cases needing those appointments more. But I’m a bit confused - you mention submitting IR2 apps to the Montreal embassy? What did you actually submit and where to?
  23. It’s about a 2 yr wait for Islamabad. This thread is for spouse visas but will give you an idea at least -
