  1. I meant if they asked specifically about how long would we be in the US (since we will only have our carry on bags) or if I’m bringing in any household items, etc.
  2. My children and I are planning to activate our immigrant visas by going to US by air, during March break. Our petitioner (my spouse/ their father) is already living and working in the US. We also have a house that we bought there where we will live. We are planning to come to Canada after March break for the children to finish up the school year and then return to the US with all of our belongings at the start of summer. Would that be an issue if explained at the POE?
  3. Isn’t this scenario exactly why people don’t give up their jobs until they have activated their visa and have the Green Card in hand? What if you give up your job and home prior to first entry, and then get denied entry and have your IV jeopardized. Now you have to wait in Canada for an indefinite period of time to sort out immigration stuff and on top of that you don’t even have a place and a job. Sounds like a Catch-22.
  4. Has anyone been in “issued” status for over a week? My visa was not approved on the spot as they had to complete some checks but it got “issued” within 2 hours, on the same day as the interview. My children got their passports back with visas in 3 days but I am still waiting for courier tracking information. Status still shows “issued” with the message that visa is in final processing. I have yet to see a scenario like this since most people get refused > administrative processing > issued and then passport returned within 3-4 days. I’m really confused.
  5. My children and I had our interview in Montreal on Feb 14. (Spouse/father is petitioner). The children were approved on the spot but the CO said that she was waiting for a few checks to be completed before approving me. The visa status changed to “issued” within 2 hours for all of us. Children received their courier tracking info the next day and passports two days later. I have not received anything so far. The last status update was on Feb 16 and it still says “issued” with the message that my visa is in the final stages of processing……. Anyone had similar experience? Why would they send two passports and not the third one if all visas were issued at the same time? I’m getting anxious thinking about it.
  6. Did you get your passport back? I’m in a similar situation with Montreal. In my case the visa status says “issued” since the day of the interview. My children got their passports backs in 2 days but I’m still waiting for over a week now. Status remains “issued”.
