I’ve been in a relationship with a US citizen for over ten years. We lived together in the same house in my country the whole time. All plentifully documented with photos, documents, affidavits from US family and friends. We want to move to the US this year. With that in mind, we recently got married and plan to apply for K3.
1) Does the fact that we hadn’t married for so long look dubious to a consular officer?
2) Would it be more dubious still to tell the officer the truth that one of the reasons we hadn’t married was because we thought this would make getting a tourist visa more difficult? I often travelled to the US with him over the years and applied for B2 visa in my country several times. We’ve been exclusively and deeply committed to each other, but don’t follow religious and secular convention on marriage. This is the main reason we hadn't married. We don't have children.
