  1. My wife received a message saying that they will contact her soon about her AOS Greencard Interview a few weeks ago, but today she checked her status and it says that the interview process is completed. We never even attended an interview. So we're confused on whether it's some sort of error on their part or does this mean our interview is waived?
  2. I never knew about the documents tab! I checked it and my wife's work permit and travel doc has been approved! They are sending her a combo card! I wish there was some sort of notification, if it hadn't been for you. She would've never known that it was even approved! Thank you so much! Now the wait for the greencard.
  3. Is the joint account savings or checkings and what type is the personal account? i'm not sure which type to choose for my wife.
  4. I would like to know if it’s possible for my wife who is waiting for her greencard approval if she can open a personal bank account for herself? Or does she need to become a US citizen first?
  5. My wife applied and sent out her AOS packet (application for greencard, work permit and travel docs) back in May, and as of today she checked her status online and it says Case closed. Does this mean that her travel docs wasn't approved? We are nervous as we tried to take our time to make sure we filled out everything correctly before mailing. Once we received the notice, it was instructions and location for her biometrics appointment, which she did attend and do, so I'm not sure why she's getting this message. Here's a screenshot of what it says.
  6. No problem. So I guess I should just file the W4 as I normally would, since SINGLE/MFS is once choice. And if my wife finally gets a job later, we can change the status later?
  7. I don't think she will get a job this year, because she submitted her AOS packet not too long ago and we are still waiting for that. She will most likely get a job after receiving her greencard which is probably some time next year. You mention that choosing either MFJ or MFS is good evidence of a bonafide marriage. But on the W4 form MFS and Single are a single option. So how will they determine whether I'm married or filing seperately?
  8. I have been filing as single on my W-4, but recently married my wife on a K-1 Visa and I am not sure exactly what to do. Should I file as Married filing seperately, or Married filing jointly. My wife does not work, but she does have an SSN and is currently waiting for her greencard and work employment authorization. Also if I decide to file as 'Married filing Jointly' then should I claim her as a dependent? I just want to make sure I am filling this form out correctly since this is the first time I am filling it as a married man. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advanced.
  9. About how long does the process take on average? Thanks for the straight forward answer. Is it okay if I go with her, since her english isn't good?
  10. My wife has finally received her I-797 for the biometrics appointment and I would like to know what to expect. Do I also need to attend this appointment, or is it strictly for her only. Since she's the one that filed the AOS packet.
  11. My wife who came over on a K1 Visa is applying for her AOS, and I am the sponsor but don't meet the income requirements so I am having someone else as a joint sponsor. When and if we get confirmation for our interview, does the joint sponsor also need to attend?
  12. I'm assuming that if I submit tax transcipts along with my I-864/I-864A then I do not need to include anything else such as pay stubs, w2's, etc? I'm about to mail off my AOS packet and just wanted to confirm one last thing.
  13. Thank you very much for clearing that up. It can be a tricky for a non-native english speaker to understand and catch that. I have requested copies of my tax transcripts from the irs website and they mailed them to me. I wasn't aware that a tax transcript and a tax return were 2 entirely different things.
  14. On USCIS official site it says to include w2's though. So I'm a bit confused by the conflicting answers given. This is the checklist for form I-864 and I-864A
  15. I have included my most recent tax transcript, and w2, bank statement showing how much money I have in my account. Do I also need to add to that a copy of my passport's information page, and my proof of US citizenship as well? I wasn't born in the US, but became a citizen through naturalization from my parents.
  16. The guide on here says to send the AOS packet to the lockbox in Chicago, however when looking at the filing location chart on USCIS's website it shows the following. Since I'm located in Texas, should I be sending it to that location instead? screen shot capture
  17. Is it better to provide tax returns or tax transcripts? My mother is the one who is the joint sponsor, since my income doesn't meet the requirements. As per my understanding it's only required to send the most recent year tax return and or tax transcript, and w2? I don't want to send more than I need to.
  18. My wife is filing for her AOS, and I will be the sponsor on the I-864 and my mother will be household member/joint sponsor on the I-864A. As the ones filling out the I-864/I-864A forms, are we required to submit W2's, or are the most recent tax transcripts of the past 3 years sufficient?
  19. If using personal check to pay, can the person be someone other than yourself? I don't use personal checks, and would like to ask for someone else in my family to write out a check to USCIS and then I will just pay that person back. Or does the name/address on the check need to match the name of the person that's on the envelope? So for example, the AOS packet that I'm about to send, which is for my wife to get her greencard, work permit and travel docs, etc. I'm assuming her name needs to go on the envelope and not mines? Because last time when filling out the I-129F, it was my name on the envelope. Again, just want to be safe and sure that I'm doing it correctly. As I do not want them to reject our AOS packet.
  20. I went on the irs website to request my tax transcripts. If i have these, then I won't need to send in my w-2's? Just want to confirm. Or should I still send both to be on the safe side? Shouldn't one cover letter be enough when submitting all 3 applications (I-485/I-765/I-131)? I think the USCIS officer's would prefer simplicity to make things more efficient on their end.
  21. Does it matter which method of payment to use when submitting your AOS packet? I heard that personal check is recommended and the safest but would like to hear your thoughts? I got a money order through my bank last time when submitting my I-129F.
  22. It is your right to get a copy of your I-693 form. I think it's wrong if they are charging you for this. Before approving it, you should always look it over. The people responsible for filling out the form are prone to make mistakes, and if it's on them, they that's money and time wasted. It's best if you can look over the form to make sure everything's correct and also be able to ask for a copy of the form as well. What I would do is before getting a medical examination at one of these civil surgeon's office, is call them 1st and ask them if they will supply you a copy of the form and also allow you to review it after the doctor fills it out. If they say no, find another office.
  23. Hello, I need some help with the I-131 form. Does Part 7 need to be filled out? I watched a video regarding this and they said that it's not needed. But I still want to make sure. My wife is filling out this form along with her I-485 and I-765. She checked the box 1.d. in Part 2. And the reason for her submitting this form is incase of a family emergency and she needs to go back to her country in order to take care of her family.
