  1. My visa got approved and issued today! My case was in administrative processing for a total of 5 business days. Don’t know when my tracking number will come in, does it usually take 24hrs for them to send an email? thank you all for your help and support this past year and a half. this forum has been the only thing that gave me hope waiting all this time ❤️
  2. Not to be a downer, but no, the interview is not a small formal final step 😕 In my experience, there was no way I could have known that my previous troubles at the border would have delayed processing my visa. They will ask you questions about any possible issues you’ve had before because they’ve got all of your history in front of them during the interview. They knew about my student visas and all my border crossings and asked me questions to confirm what happened. They might still approve the visa, but in my case, they put me administrative processing because they needed to look more into it. Don’t worry too much about it now. Just be honest and roll with the punches. Nothing you can do 🤷🏼‍♀️
  3. Don’t worry. I went in for medical exam at Telus health in mtl on 02/08, got results sent to consulate on 02/14 (they emailed me to tell me). When I went into interview on 03/06, they said it was received. I don’t know what the 10-15 days is, it might be that they’re gonna mail you the results, but I only ever got a pdf of the vaccines I got there. Weird.
  4. Hey all. Got refusal under 221g for AP (no documents required) during my interview on March 6th. They kept my passport and told me it’ll be 1-3 weeks for my passport return and that they would approve my visa within 24hrs. But it’s almost been a week, and I’ve gotten nothing. I was wondering if they sent me a DS5535 but I remembered that the email the NVC had on file was incorrect. Didn’t worry too much before the interview because my husband was being CC’d in all the emails. But now I’m worried they sent the DS5535 to the wrong email and if they don’t CC’ing my husband I’ll never know. Is there any way other to know if I need to fill out a DS5535 without having access to the email they might have sent it to?
  5. Got it. We booked a flight but it has a good rebooking policy. We were aware that it was possible it would be delayed and we’re prepared to rebook if this happened.
  6. Thanks! it’s kinda embarrassing but I only had information about immigration from my older brother who got a green card through change of status from school. He was under the impression I could go into the states with my husband on a visitors visa and apply for a green card while I was living there with him. So, I was honest about my intentions at the border and they gave us a really hard time. From the beginning they had treated me like I had committed a very severe crime, but really I was just really stupid and misinformed about the process. I was complaint but visibly upset. The situation escalated when they took my fingerprints and I was so nervous I started to cry. They started getting upset that my hands were too sweaty. They became a little rough when doing my fingerprints, and my husband tried to see what was happening and get involved. They started shouting at him to sit down and he started shouting back. Eventually everything settled and both parties calmed down, and I was allowed to return back home without any consequences (atleast that’s what they told me) and told to file the I-130. When the immigration officer was talking to me about it, he said it was a good thing I was honest at the border and had basically said that they overreacted by taking my fingerprints. He said it shouldn’t be a problem to get my visa and just needed to check with them at the border to confirm what had happened.
  7. Hey all! Went in for my interview today and things went mostly well. Immigration officer told me that he needed to look into a previous border crossing issue, but didn’t expect any problems. He said he would be able to approve of the visa in the afternoon but it’s still saying refused. I know it’s technically under administrative processing (so 2-3 weeks until passport return) but he made it seem like it would be a quick approval. Anybody have a similar experience? I made travel plans for this weekend so I’d like to have my passport back by the end of the week. Do you think it’s possible, or is it still gonna take 2-3 weeks even if he approves of it soon? I live just outside mtl and I’m using premium delivery.
  8. Hey all! Thank you so much for all your advice and support about the whole police certificate ruckus. An update: I went in for my fingerprints today to get the proper police certificate at a different place in Montreal than I did last time. They said it should be here in 10 days (which is waaaay shorter than the previous place I went to). I will most likely have it well before my interview in three weeks. If not, they will call the RCMP and ask what’s up. I’m so glad I checked the FAQs and made sure I had the right one because it would have sucked to have my immigration postponed because of such a small detail. I can’t thank this forum enough. advice to anybody who needs a new police certificate ASAP: make sure the fingerprint place does them DIGITALLY and not by ink. I was told that the reason mine took so long last time was most likely because they were doing them by ink and not by the scanner.
  9. Do you know how I could get it on time? When I originally got it, it took 8 weeks to come in. 😕
  10. Hey all, I’m having a bit of a panic moment. I need some help. So I have my interview March 6th, and everything has gone well until this point. But I was going through the checklist and realized I have the wrong police certificate all along. I have the visa border crossing one instead of the “RCMP National Repository Entire Holdings.” When I sent it in though for documentation it was approved so I never knew. What do I do? I have three weeks left until the interview and I’m absolutely terrified they’re going to refuse me. Even if I get an appointment with the rcmp now, there’s no way I’ll get it in time for the interview.
  11. Like another user said, it’ll be sent electronically, although I hope they send a copy to the applicants as well. I’d like to know what the consulate will see before the interview. I’m scheduled for March 6th
  12. I got my hep A and B a few days before my medical to save some time and cost at the clinic. They didn’t administer another dose at the clinic for it even though it’s a three dose vaccine because they need to be spaced out (I think it’s one month for the second dose and 6 months for the third, but don’t quote me on that). When I finished my medical, they told me my case was completed and that I didn’t need to come in again. So, I’m assuming that I don’t need to get the second dose before my interview either way, because the only thing the consulate is gonna see is the report they give at the time of the exam. Essentially what I think is that you don’t need to stress after the exam about your vaccines. But then again, I haven’t gone in for my interview yet.
  13. From what I understand nope! Your spouse/petitioner cannot attend, only the applicant(s) can.
