  1. Hi all! Moneys tight and It's time for the civil surgeon for my wife's change of status. Anyone have any recommendations or tips for saving a buck with this part of things? Thanks!
  2. The application includes a co sponsor (Income on the co-sponsor is good, my income, thanks to a bunch of health challenges is not) The letter from the joint sponsor will be 3 months and 3 or 4 days old at time of application. Boundless wanted it to be "newer" but my sister (the joint sponsor) kept getting guff from the boss for being asked to update the employment letter, so to avoid further delay, we went ahead and sent it)
  3. My wife is here in the US, The application is to adjust status from a tourist visa to a spousal visa. The application is about to be submitted in the next day or so. My main question is: will we have to wait for the status adjustment to be completely finalized for my wife to be able to freely travel and/or work, or can she do these things during the application process?
  4. OK, after 6 months of putting together everything and working with Boundless (Never Again) 😕 We are finally ready to file. My question is this: I am being advised that a RFE is a pretty good likelyhood, so I am curious about something: My understanding is that, once they get the application packet, in "5 to 7 months" my wife will receive "a stamp" that will allow her to travel freely, work here in the US, etc... My question is, would the request for RFE potentially come before, or after the issuance of "the stamp"? Thanks all.
  5. I am hoping, yes, we were divorced in Fishers Indiana (Hamilton county) which is a suburb of Indianapolis (Marion county) and I have spoke with several people at both, as well as Las Vegas (Where the original marriage certificate was issued. They sent me back to Indiana...
  6. There is a divorce certificate from marriage 1 of course, the court clerk just cant find it (called about a half dozen times, and 2 or 3 different court clerks so far)
  7. No, she did plan on returning (The doctors said I needed 4 to 6 months of 24/7 family care) but the surgery was delayed and also complications, so they are saying 9 to 12 months total for the recovery (With letters from the surgeons to confirm)
  8. Hi all, I've been using Boundless (Love them) and filling out all my forms and submitting documents prepping for the adjustment of status filing, and have a question. I was married twice, and my most recent X-wife, I have that decree, my first wife (Divorced sometime between 2000 and 2004, fuzzy memory) I contacted the county we were divorced in and they have no record that they can find. How big a challenge might this be?
  9. I am looking to file an I-130 and I-485 soon (Working on putting together the money, a bunch of health problems have taken us pretty close to zero) The process and options confuse my medication addled brain pretty good, and I really think we need a lawyer or some other kind of expert. Problem (as with a bunch of areas of our life) is money. Is there such thing as a lawyer out there who has a reasonable hourly fee and can do "an hour here, and an hour there" as finances allow? My wife is here in an emergency tourist visa and it is up on Sep 6th, So I am hoping to get something going soon.
  10. I just went back and read this, for some reason I had it in my head that we needed to do an I-130 AND AOS, so simply AOS and shes good to go?
  11. By the time she did her interview, we had the doctors and the State department saying to let them know she would be applying for I-130
  12. I am an American here in Indiana US and my lovely Filipina wife is here with me on a 6 month tourist visa (It was granted so she could be my caretaker after a super grueling heart operation which I am recovering from now) The officials from the get-go were told that we would be filing an I-130 at some point, so no big fears of her being called a "tourist visa fibber", just fyi... My question (s) are: These health challenges are quite bad, and have taken my income down to around 20K per year, I am on Medicaid and other public assistance programs (I do have a friend worth about 400K USD who will "co sponsor" though. My wife is not and has not collected any US benefits of any Kind, so my first question is, Is ME being a public charge a problem? Second question: My wife has a HS diploma, and decent minimum wage work experience in the Philippines, but no savings, she can likely get a $15 per hour or so job offer for once her change of status takes effect from the hospital we go to though. How worried of public charge does she need to be personally? Third question: We are scraping together the $1600+ for the I-130 and I-485 petition , but don't have it yet, I read somewhere that if I go apply in person, there might be a "fee waiver" program A: Is there? and B, would THAT complicate the Public Charge rulings? Last question (and THANKS for reading this far) Any recommendations on a good lawyer versed in these topics who is willing to work one hour at a time? Thanks Much everyone. Tom P.S. One more question, sorry about that. Shes 4 months in on her 6 month visa, when is the :latest" we should do the I-130 / I-485 thing to avoid risk of her having to leave (With my heart operation recovery, this would be a VERY bad thing)
  13. My wife is currently here on an emergency tourist visa from the Philippines. I am scheduled for a fairly dangerous operation (LVAD / Internal and external heart pump) and I am told there is a 78% chance I live through the operation itself (IE 22% I don't) I want to do the I-130 application ASAP and am wondering, if I do the initial application and happen to pass right after, what comes of my wifes chances to stay?
  14. Sorry about that, fully and recently vaxxed, flying from Cebu Philippines, and the reason she didnt fly with him is we were to be staying in a "4 big dog" house, We recently got our own place near the hospital so the dogs are no longer a challenge...
  15. Odd question everyone, no that my lovely wife Anabel is here in the states, we miss the living heck out of our 4 year old family cat, David. Without us there, he doesent face a very good life, so we want to see about bring him over. Anyone coming to the states (Indianapolis, or something close enough to drive to) anytime soon that could fly with him as cabin baggage (I would pay the fee) Or does anyone know a reasonably priced way to get a family pet over here? Money is tight (I have a bunch of medical problems I'm dealing with, and it pretty much cleaned us out financially) but we sure do want to see David the cat again...
  16. My wife is here on a B-2 tourist visa, if we were to apply for a spousal visa, Is there any shot that it could be completed before her September return date?
  17. It's that "however statement" towards the bottom that'll get you though 😉
  18. After a whole bunch of begging, emails, phone calls and my wife visiting the office at the crack of dawn, she was able to get her CFO in just a day, Ill let everyone know if she needs it, shes going through customs in about 30 min... 🙂
  19. Just found this from the issuing agency, I am apperently screwed (They are waiting to do the heart pump operation till after she gets here and I was given 2 to 3 months (a month ago) without this operation. Anyone know anyone at the issuing agency, or know how to get this done on an emergency basis?
