So I have two minor children ages 5 and 7 coming to me in the Philippines. My ex- (their mother) is bringing them to stay with me for 3+ years. Are they required to have a COVID CARD and/or records of COVID immunizations?

On this I would have to disagree. MOM is no longer a citizen of the Philippines. She is a US CITIZEN and resides in the US. This court order is US based as is her citizenship. This is a COURT STIPULATION that we both signed and agreed to. The Philippine courts would have no jurisdiction over this matter.

To be honest I always thought the dual-citizenship process was kind of a slap in the face to the US. I mean when you get sworn in as a US Citizen you SWEAR your allegiance to them, forsaking kings, other countries, etc... We both actually thought that was kind of inappropriate.

Mom really has no choice. A court order requires her to bring them here no later than July 1, 2024.

She's not going to apply for Philippines citizenship. She lives in the US and is happy there.

I am a US citizen, married in the Philippines 14 years ago.I brought my then-wife to USA. She became a US citizen, opting out of the dual citizenship option. We got divorced in the USA 4 years ago. I am getting married in July here in the Philippines to my fiance here. Once married I will apply for the 13A visa. My two children are being brought here by Court Stipulation to stay with me for the next 3 years. At the beginning I can re-new their visitor visas. Once I get the 13A visa do my kids get added to that? Are they requires to get a Student Visa? They are ages 5 and 7. Mahalo

Once their mother became a US citizen she decided against applying for dual citizenship. The kids were born in the USA.

They are not dual citizens. They were both born in the USA. A judge in Hawaii awarded me custody of them for the next 3+ years here in the Philippines where I now live.

Okay, so here's a unique situation. Hawaii divorce court filed an order that my two minor children (US Citizens) ages 5 and 7 be brought to me by their mother in the Philippines. I will have sole custody of them for 3+ years. This was a court stipulation. I have already found an excellent school for them to attend and suddenly wondered if I need to apply for some kind of student visa or would the school do that? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Please help...my kids will be arriving mid-June of this year.

That's the best news I've had all day! Since leaving me two years ago she has already gone through a live-in partner and has now married another guy. Good grief!

Asthma is not an excuse to overstay your visa. You're out of luck. Why would the US allow you to enter on a tourist when you have already violated your previous visa?

Okay, so maybe I have been asking the wrong question here. I am in a situation where I have decided to move to the Philippines instead of bringing my fiance here to the US. (My fiance is ecstatic!) I had asked how to go about a Recognition of Foreign Divorce in the Philippines so I can marry there again. I was married 10 years ago in Philippines. I was sent a link for the information by a fellow VJ member. Here's the first paragraph of the Philippine law: JUDICIAL RECOGNITION OF FOREIGN DIVORCE IN THE PHILIPPINES There is no divorce in the Philippines, but when a divorce is validly obtained abroad and initiated by the foreign spouse, the Filipino spouse shall have the capacity to remarry under Philippine law. So as I read this the law does not pertain to me as I DID NOT INITIATE THE DIVORCE NOR AM I THE FILIPINO SPOUSE. So then am I free to marry in the Philippines as long as I can present an original divorce decree obtained in Hawaii USA to the Philippine authorities? In reading the Philippines law (above) the very first paragraph seems to not apply to me in me in this situation. MY FILIPINA FILED FOR DIVORCE AGAINST ME so I didn't initiate the divorce and obviously I am not the Filipino spouse. Your assistance in the matter will be greatly appreciated. Mahalo, David

Okay so I posted this in the Philippines section and really didn't get an answer. So here we go again. I was married in Lapu Lapu in 2013. My filipina left me 2 years ago. I want to get my US divorce recognized by the Philippines. Does anyone have recommendations for an attorney and do I need an attorney in Cebu to file with the regional court there? Any recommendations for attorneys for this?

I'm going back to the Philippines in August. I hope to find an attorney on the trip. I am just very uncomfortable hiring an attorney on-line. Too many scammers. I was hoping someone could make a recommendation for a reliable attorney. Good luck in your search. So I was married in the Philippines in 2013. My wife divorced me 2 years ago. I am looking for an attorney to file a RECOGNITION OF FOREIGN DIVORCE. I found one in Manila but he wants 50k php as a retainer. That sounds a little pricey to me. Also, is the filing to be done in a regional court and would it be better to find an attorney in Cebu where we were married? Does anyone know of an attorney that is to be trusted? Please advise. So I was married 10 years ago in Philippines. My Filipina left me and the kids after 8 years. I am seriously thinking of moving to the PI. My new fiance thinks that would be great. But I think I would want to marry her there. How do I get my American Divorce recognized in the PI? I am the American. I know divorce is not an option in the PI. Any suggestions and how long will it take?
