  1. Hi Everyone, I wanted to thank you all for being really helpful members of this forum. I received my IR1 visa recently from Montreal and was finally reunited with my wife and our cat in the US. It felt really good to be admitted to the US as a resident and not as a visitor (which is always very tenuous). I hope you all have smooth immigration journeys, and that I may be able to help answer any questions you have. See you folks in 3 years when its citizenship application time Cheers, and take care
  2. Yeah, a DS5535 wouldn't be so bad if they were processed promptly... This backlog in processing and people's hardships with the process is what is concerning
  3. Hi folks, my IR1 interview in Montreal is in a week. All of these DS5535 cases I'm hearing about are really giving me the jitters, and any delays to this already long process would really shatter us. I have all the documents that I've checked off against a couple helpful checklists other members have posted. Is there anything I can do to be more prepared? Are people selected for this based on their background? As in if I was going to get it I would? Can nothing I say/do can alleviate it at the interview? Please wish me luck!
  4. Hi I filled out the online form for telus health but got no response. I was only able to schedule an appointment by calling them. Hope that helps
  5. Hi there! I grew up in India before moving to the country for grad school, so I have no Canadian records of getting all my vaccinations. Has anyone been in a similar situations where their vaccination records were from outside the country? How do we harmonize it? I am in BC and don't have a family doctor... Sampath
  6. Thank you @nap782, Looks like my drivers license and care card should be proof enough to pickup my passport from Canada post. I anyways have a better experience with them than purolator
  7. @nap782 Did you have to provide any address proof to pick up your passport? My address is in Vancouver, but I'm hoping to pick up my passport in Montreal and fly to my wife on the east coast directly given how close my interview date is to Christmas...
  8. Hi folks While I'm from Vancouver, I'll be staying with my friend for a few weeks in Montreal in December after giving my visa interview there. Is there any way I can collect my passport in Montreal through I don't have an ID proof that has my Friend's address? Cheers
  9. July 25th DQ, got IL today for a late December interview. Won't be a christmas in the US, but perhaps a New Year's eve? Feeling so relieved.
  10. DQ'd on July 26th. Was hoping to hear something from them this month, but it looks like it'll have to wait until January. Has anyone gotten any December dates at all?
  11. Yep. I'm only visiting. Hope to be back soon with the LPR status...
  12. Hello My CR1 application is at the NVC stage. I am visiting my spouse in the US (I am on a tourist visa) and will be here for the next month or so. Is my "present address" my spouse's address in the US? Or is it my permanent/mailing address where I live back home? Sampath
  13. Thank you all for all inputs. ROK2USA, I am on that forum, and it has been really helpful in addressing some of my questions. I will be sure to follow it. It looks like I will have to supply proof of my status in Canada to be eligible to interview in Montreal, and it looks like I should be able to meet those requirements.
  14. Hey folks With all the stories in this thread of people not getting the right type of police certificate, I'm thinking of pre-emptively applying for the RCMP certificate... Does anyone know if this document has a particular validity or can only be done after a particular stage of the process for eg. during NVC processing? Thank you
  15. Hello I am (Indian Citizen and a Canadian Permanent Resident) married to a (US Citizen) who has sponsored me for a US Green Card. We applied in March 2022 when I was living in Canada and indicated consular processing in Montreal. Since December 2022, I been living in India, spending time with family, working on a technology startup and visiting my spouse in the US for a month at a time as a visitor. I still hold my Canadian Permanent Residency. Can I continue with Montreal for consular processing or am I required to change it to Mumbai in India? Thanks Ind2Can
