EthanB reacted to 1983Electric in Interview appointment letter for visa medical [merged threads]
The MRV fee is the fee paid by a US bank account to the embassy appointment scheduling. Mine came out to 275 USD for Paris. It asked for payment during scheduling of the appointment on the France consulate page. We were able to book an appointment when the CEAC status page showed ready and said we could, then it needs two main things: case id (yours probably starts with LDN or something) and DS-160 ID (after you fill that out and submit, it will give you a page to print with a barcode and the ID). Hope that helps.. we are going through it now just as you.

EthanB reacted to 1983Electric in NVC not receiving case number
I received NOA2 on May 15 and still have not received our case number. I e-mailed them and they said that they had received it, but it was still waiting to be entered into the system.

Typically up to 2 months for the NVC to send the package to the consulate.
There's useful information in the K1 progress report forum, specifically the June 2023 K1 to NOA2 post:

You have to contact NVC to find out your case number. NVC only ever notifies you when they send the petition to the consulate, if you’d like to find out before that then you’ll have to send a public inquiry.

EthanB reacted to P055UM in Michigan Driving insurance on learners permit.
We bought a car when I was AoSing from K1 and had a learners permit in my 30s. Insurance was not a problem - it was arranged just as @Mike E said. Different states and all, but hopefully it’ll be just as easy for you. An insurance agent will be able to help you out! Good luck!

Your automobile insurance agent will know this stuff better than most of us.
Since you coming in on a K-1 visa you should want to own the car jointly with your future spouse.
Not an insurance agent, but I think the what will happen is:
* both names will one on title
* both names will be on auto insurance policy as owners
* since your spouse will be the primary person in the passenger seat while you are learning to drive, both names will be on auto insurance as drivers
If for some reason Michigan law requires a vehicle owner to be fully licensed, then your spouse will have sole title initially, and then when you get your full license, you can be added.
