  1. Is there any notification sent when the visa status changes to "Issued" (or at all)? Or it's necessary to just keep checking the website? I saw my case was "last updated" today, so I take it as a promising sign.... Thank you!
  2. Well, in the end I found out that Telus submitted my results to the consulate yesterday, so that reflects 9 business days since the exam. If I wanted to be proactive and poke the consulate regarding my case (I understand it's probably not worth it, but I'd like to try) does anyone know if there's an email or enquiry form that would be best to use? I know some of you have emailed the consulate in the past but it's hard to search this thread and I can't seem to find that information online... Thanks in advance!
  3. Hi! Anybody had their medical at Telus in Montreal this month and received (or not) confirmation of the results? I had my medical on March 8th and still waiting for the results to go to the consulate (who are waiting on that to issue my visa). When making my appointment and the 3 times I've called since, they insist the time frame is 5 business days - but don't have much to say when I ask why we're beyond that...). The clinic itself insist the time frame is 10-15 business days. I'm struggling to believe anything they say; when I called yesterday they said the doctor was reviewing the file. When I called today, the told me the doctor wasn't even in the office yesterday!! I'm trying to figure out some kind of baseline of how long this "normally" takes or has taken for other people.... Thanks!!
  4. It depends on your age. The urine sample is for gonorrhoea test, but it only applies <25 years (I think)
  5. They asked me: - When we got married - If I or my spouse had ever been married before - When and where I met my spouse - The status of our relationship before marrying (e.g. long distance) - If I'd ever travelled to Iran, Afghanistan, any "adventure tourism" - If I'd ever held a US visa before - If I'd ever overstayed a visa in the US or other country Overall the conversation was friendly and pleasant. I interacted with 3 consular officers and it was very relaxed and straightforward. Hope it helps,
  6. Hello all Once the visa is approved by the consulate (post interview), I've seen people here talking about seeing the status change online (from refused to issued or back, etc). On which website is this visible? Is it the CEAC or a different site? Do you get emails on status changes or it's necessary to login and check? Thanks!! And, to add a little information for everyone else (and follow up from @CanUkie detailed post): I had my interview on Thursday 16th at the consulate in Montreal. The process was very straightforward, and everyone was welcoming and friendly. The CO was happy with my case and intends to approve my visa. However - with one small speed bump - I made my medical exam at Telus in Montreal on Wednesday 8th (allowing the one week specified on the pre-interview instructions, and the 5 business days specified by Telus themselves over the phone when I made the appointment). However, at the time of my interview, my medical results were not yet available: when I left my medical, I got the contradictory information that it would take 10-15 business days to issue the results, and this was repeated to me when I followed up with the clinic after my interview. So, I was issued a 221 refusal form; the CO said he will check my case every couple of days until the medical results come and assuming all is ok, he will issue the visa. My recommendations are not to use the Telus clinic in Montreal if you can avoid it. Overall I had a poor experience. If you must use the Telus clinic in Montreal, regardless of what they tell you when you make your appointment, you should allow 10-15 business days for the results to be available to the consulate. Thanks and good luck to everyone
  7. Thank you Family One! Actually it was your earlier posts that lead me down the path of updating my documentation ahead of the interview, I feel like we're in a somewhat similar situation (my spouse / sponsor has no income, I do but all from Canadian sources). Perhaps a difference is that I have a co-sponsor. I've gotten worried about other things, like the interview prep specifically stating that the co-sponsor spouse needs an I-864A if they filed a joint return but NVC accepting my application without that I thought the forms specifically said that the intended immigrant doesn't fill out I-864A, but it sounds like I need to? It seems tuned to "US residents" though - what did you write for tax information? Did you include data from your Canadian tax returns (and include copies of the last return / T1s / T5s / something else)? Thank you, I appreciate the advice Thanks for talking me down ShawnK! Like we wrote before, I'm surely just overthinking things. The whole process is like torture. All the best and good luck,
  8. Hello everyone The group has been so helpful and forthcoming with advice, I thought I'd ask for a little more (or maybe just reassurance as I prepare for my interview on Thursday). I have the complete documentation asked for on the "interview prep" page from the Montreal consulate. Based on things I've read here, I've also just been adding to the documents on the CEAC portal (using the "add additional document" button): - Updated police certificate (since my old one was "invalidated" by becoming the wrong type) - Updated I-864 from my wife (petitioner) Updated Canadian bank statements from myself (the applicant) to correspond with declared assets Letter from my employer offering continuity of my employment as a US permanent resident - Updated I-864 from my co-sponsor I-864A from my co-sponsor's spouse (the only other household member, NVC never asked for this before) Form W2 for 2021 and 2022 (previously uploaded 2020) I'll carry a paper copy of everything, plus my co-sponsor's 2021 tax return in full (previously uploaded the 2020 return) Are there any other documents that might be important? I've travelled to the US twice since completing the DS-260. It looks like I can modify the DS-260 "in-place" on the CEAC website, should I do that? Or perhaps document the travel some other way... My entries don't show on the I-94 site and I don't have time to complete a FOI request. Perhaps just typed on a sheet of paper? Any advice? As usual I'm surely just overthinking things, but it's hard to not be nervous. Despite being married for 6 years with two children, the whole process feels so judgemental and arbitrary... I'll be glad once it's over! Thanks and good luck,
  9. Oof! 7 days will be the day _before_ my interview, so I hope they do that or better... Since I was told to make my appointment at least one week in advance, which I did. Probably overthinking it, and increasingly anxious and frustrated. Thanks for the info, and good luck to you too!
  10. Thank you! The majority seemed to be people for IRCC (Canadian immigration) and I wonder if they just repeat the same stuff to everyone without thinking about it. I hope you got your passport back Thanks again,
  11. Hello! I had my medical at the Telus clinic in Montreal on Wednesday 8th, ahead of my interview next week on the 16th. After the medical they told me: "you'll receive your results in 10-15 business days" which made me raise my eyebrows - but my interview is next week, I said! She told me not to worry and that confirmation of the medical would be sent to the embassy in time, and that was all that was required. Am I misinterpreting something here, or worrying about nothing? Did anyone else get a medical at Telus and confirm that everything was A-OK for their interview? I'm hoping that by "receive your results" she means the copy that gets mailed out to me.... Thanks and good luck to everyone,
  12. I had the same initial reaction but the majority of information is _not_ needed. Petitioner / beneficiary first names, beneficiary country (presumably Canada!), visa type and then enter the dates of the key events (I put I-130 NOA 1 & 2, received by NVC, completed at NVC and interview date). As you said, the data is very beneficial for others going through the process. Good luck!
  13. Wow that's terrible, I'm very sorry. In fact, when I _originally_ submitted my civil documents to NVC, I also had the wrong certificate (it wasn't backed by fingerprints and says "Canadian Police Certificate for Visa Applicants / Foreign Travel / Work Permits"). It was the one my local RCMP said I needed, and it's my fault for not checking but the NVC caught it as invalid once they reviewed my file. I am shocked that my latest certificate came so quickly. I was greatly concerned I wouldn't have my updated certificate in time for my interview. I've also tried to contact the RCMP division about this in the past; I had the same result. An email I sent to them last year took well over 8 weeks to get a response. Note that Reliability Screening in this case does the same thing (as far as I can tell) as your local RCMP. I needed to use them because I'm outside of Canada currently. I submitted my fingerprint card to them, they digitized it and sent the application to RCMP. At that point they can't offer any update - just that you normally receive the certificate within about 4 weeks and to contact RCMP(!) if it takes longer than 8 weeks. If I was you, I'd get new fingerprints done and send to RS. The cost is about $180. And see if things move along more quickly. Of course it depends if you have the time and funds to do that. Sorry again about your experience
  14. Yes, it was the wrong type. Actually, it "became" the wrong type late last year; it was the correct type when I got it and uploaded it (and had approved) by the NVC. The old one said: "For Active Criminal Record" The new one says "Other (provide details)"
  15. For those worried about police certificates: I originally applied my certificate through Reliability Screening back in July 2022. From receipt of fingerprints to receiving the certificate in the mail took close to 5 weeks. Since it was the wrong certificate, I reapplied with Reliability Screening last week and my fingerprints were sent to RCMP on Friday 17th. The new (and correct) certificate arrived in the mail today - so, 4 business days turnaround. I really recommend Reliability Screening. They have been professional and courteous and endlessly patient with all my questions. Good luck to everybody.
  16. Coincedence indeed! I'm visiting the US right now so not able to visit RCMP, but I got my prints done today and overnighted them to Reliability Screening (who I'm now using for the 2nd time and have been friendly, professional and very, very helpful - recommended!). Hopefully my new certificate will be ready before my interview on March 16th (it's cutting it close, but if it's as fast as last time, I believe it should be ok 🤞) Overall I'm astounded that this is how the process works, and I only discovered this by being a subscriber to this forum thread. I'm questioning what other requirements have silently changed between DQ and interview, and what other documentation snafus need to be avoided....
  17. Alright, well I confirmed with Reliability Screening that this certificate is no longer valid and will likely be rejected at interview. I'm absolutely fuming right now! Does anyone have link to the list of other supporting documents needed for the interview? Are there any similar foot guns waiting for us at the consulate? Thanks so much
  18. This is my police certificate and I got it through Reliability Screening this summer On the Police Certificate section here it says: So, what - they changed the requirements last fall and now my certificate isn't valid anymore despite being accepted by NVC? Will I get bounced at the interview for having what is now the wrong certificate? How were we supposed to come by this information? Is my assessment correct? Thanks so much
  19. Now I'm freaked out! I originally applied to NVC with the wrong certificate (it says "Canadian Police Certificate for Visa Applicants / Foreign Travel / Foreign Work Permits" and the one my local RCMP said I needed). NVC caught it as an invalid document and told me to resubmit. I got a new certificate backed by a fingerprint check and it says "Your application for personal information held in the National Repository of Criminal Records has been processed...". Is this the proper certificate? I had faith that the NVC would catch errors but maybe not? Does someone have the link to all the documents I need to take to my interview? Thank you so much!!
  20. I also got my letter overnight with an interview for March 16!
