  1. Wow. I wish I had known these things sooner, but I’m glad it’s not too late. We’ll be heading to Social Security office first thing tomorrow morning. Thank you very much guys. I really appreciate the help.
  2. Thank you for the response. Item 5 (Citizenship) on the SS5 form includes the following selections: - U.S. Citizen - Legal Alien Allowed to Work - Legal Alien Not allowed to work - Other I assume that since I don’t have a work authorization, I have to check the 3rd selection. If that’s the case, the instructions in the attached photo will apply. Does it mean that, for example, I should go to DMV and request a document that states I need a SSN? Thanks again.
  3. Hi David. Thanks for the response. 1- Syria 2- No SSN (Please see below) 3- After marriage, we decided to use the services of a company called Boundless for adjustment of status. While filling the forms, we checked the box that says we need a SSN. From what I understood, when we send the package to USCIS, we’ll have to wait for EAD (however long that takes), and then shortly after we’ll receive SSN card by mail. Before applying for Boundless, we tried looking up ways to get SSN before getting work authorization, and it seemed like a dead end, but we could be missing something.
  4. Hello all, I arrived to the US last month on a K-1visa, got married and currently and the process of filing paperwork for AOS I’m starting school next month, so I needed to get a driver’s license. Turns out I can’t do that without SSN. Then I read that here in Florida I’m allowed to drive on my foreign driver’s license if l’m enrolled in a in-state college. Next issue was auto insurance. Unfortunately, insurance company told my spouse that they can’t add me to the policy as a driver unless I have international driver’s permit, which I don’t (although I have a certified translated copy of my driver’s license) Are there any alternatives that would allow me to drive while waiting for my Social Security card? Thanks
