Montreal embassy EB-2 interview wait time-Part 2
Texasbound1 replied to Blueeyes1989's topic in Canada
I found this: Can I include my children if they were not originally part of the case? If the visa for which you are applying allows derivative children, your unmarried children under the age of 21 may be added as derivative applicants after your interview has been scheduled. You must directly contact the embassy/consulate to request specific instructions. At the interview the added applicant(s) will be required to pay the same fees, and submit the same forms and supporting documents as the original applicant(s). https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-10-prepare-for-the-interview/appointment.html#int12 -

November 2023 visa issuance stats just released. Very low numbers for E class visas. https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Immigrant-Statistics/MonthlyIVIssuances/NOVEMBER 2023 - IV Issuances by Post and Visa Class.pdf -

My lawyer told me that the original is all you need to submit but any updates can be provided during your in person interview such as change of address etc. -

Thanks for sharing. Montreal is still issuing EB2 visas so I have a couple of questions that come to mind. 1. Are these visas related to interviews that were conducted based on the May 2023 interview letters? Maybe delayed due to administrative processing? 2. If not, were there maybe other interview letters sent after May 2023 but to a limited number of people that are not part of the visa journey community? -

Thanks for sharing. Seems like pretty standard numbers unlike the outliers from July where many more visa were issued in the E category. -

I actually do have a couple of other options but they are supposedly even more backed up than Montreal. So while Montreal has been really slow, I just wanted to say that other countries may be even worse depending on the jurisdiction. Kind of makes me feel better if ever so slightly lol. -

I received a response from NVC today. It is very generic and doesn't do much to alleviate concerns. They did mention that interview scheduling is based on a first in first out basis which I think it commonly known. -

You are correct and I couldn't edit the message after I sent it. THe inquiry went to NVC which seems like the correct destination. -

I have emailed the Montreal consulate directly to inquire about when they anticipate the next batch of interview letters. Unfortunately I got the run around and was directed to USCIS. USCIS directed me back to the consulate so I am not expecting any clear information. I just sent an inquiry to USCIS explaining the current interview letter delays for economic-based visa interviews and explained the nearly 5 months without any letters. Any response I receive I will post here. Perhaps if others send similar inquires it will make USCIS aware of the lack of priority for economic-based visas at the Montreal consulate and they may take action. I know this is a slim chance and wishful thinking but at least I feel like I am doing everything I can to highlight the struggles we are all facing. If interested, here is the inquiry form: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html?wcmmode=disabled -

I received one on September 1st but did not receive one for the previous quarter. Prior to that I received two others about 60 days apart. I wouldn't worry about it. -

Over 4 months since EB interview letters. I honestly do not understand what the holdup is. We pay for these services but have not agency to affect change. I keep hearing of some embassies/consulates handing out interview within week of DQ date. I really hope the next batch comes soon. Another email to the consulate incoming.... -

Maybe things will pick up in October once the new fiscal year starts and hopefully E2 will be current for all. -

No interview letters for EB visas since May. My original guess when I got DQ'ed was that I would get mine in September and it looks like that may be the next round unless something comes this week for folks. -

Use this site for all US travel history - https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home. The rest you will likely need to get from memory! -

I haven't received anything but that is because my priority date is not current (retrogressed). I hope to hear something by the next round of ILs after this batch if the final action date for EB-2 is after my priority date. Right now I am retrogressed by 15 days. I hope others have had some good news though - fingers crossed! -

I was looking at this too and based on previous ILs, it seems like it hasn't been going out every month. The May 19th batch was preceded by a bunch on March 25 with nothing in April. It looks like they skipped June and will be issuing a batch later this month (July). -

During the interview process, do they ask about your current work position or only what type of work you would be performing in the US? I ask because I am looking to switch my career focus slightly from what I was approved for (EB2-NIW) even though I plan to do exactly what I was approved for in the US once I receive my green card. Just trying to see if it would somehow hurt my chances of being approved and obviously would just stick to the exact same career focus if its a potential issue. -

Consulate website updated with no change to employment visas. I am not really sure how they calculate the dates since so many people have been receiving interview letters lately but the January 2021 date remained static for another month. Could it be due to Chinese and Indian applicants being retrogressed? -

When are interview letters normally sent? Is it just towards the end of the month or are some also sent at the beginning of the month or other sporadic times? -

This morning my wife (who is part of the EB2 visa application as a derivative) crossed the land border from Sonora, Mexico to Arizona. The CO said he could see her visa on the system and asked about it. We were DQed in late January 2023. It seems like the in person interviews are mostly a formality and that makes the wait even more tiresome. The CO said we should expect something soon but I doubt he would have any info since the delay is due to Montreal not prioritizing EB interviews. -

Update from Montreal Consulate site: As of May 01, 2023, most Immediate Relative and fiancé(e) visa cases being scheduled for interview in Montreal were documentarily complete at the National Visa Center in January 2023; most Family Preference cases with visa numbers available that are being scheduled for interview were documentarily qualified in December 2022; and most Employment cases scheduled for interview were documentarily complete in January 2021. EB moved by one month. -

It’s nice to see interviews being scheduled. I’m cautiously optimistic that the backlog will continue to decrease quicker and quicker
