  1. Crossed the border by car earlier today into Michigan and activated my visa. I stated that I needed to activate my permanent residence and was directed to secondary inspection. Went inside, had my picture taken and the officer told me my visa was activated and that the cards would be sent. He told me he didn’t need the envelope with paperwork since it was all digital now and he didn’t take my fingerprints either. Not sure if others had the same experience recently. I will ask again when my wife and daughter activate their visas tomorrow on the Mexico-Texas border. As I was leaving, one officer told me “Welcome to Freedom”, and I laughed out loud. Best of luck to all and thank you to everyone that shared their experiences here. It’s a great community. Make Canada proud in the USA.
  2. Just received the passports back with visas. Will do one final update once I cross the border on Friday.
  3. Just received my tracking information. Label created but I cannot see when it will be delivered yet. Should be no more than 2 business days. Will keep everyone posted.
  4. I’m still waiting for a tracking number email…I thought it comes right after the issued status change.
  5. You can use the visa in your passport until your green card arrives. Upon entry it will be extended for one year upon initial activation.
  6. My status still says refused but it was updated again this morning. Any ideas as to why the status might get updated but still stay in the same category? Maybe it’s automated or goes into a different part of the consulate’s process?
  7. I sent the consulate an email today about this. Will post any response I receive.
  8. Yes but you will be required to pay without private US health insurance. It costs between USD150-200 per shot.
  9. Our status changed to “refused” in the evening of September 16, which was the day our our interview.
  10. I don’t think I was actually missed since my DQ was at the end of January 2023 which was the same month as the consular website update at that time. I just happened to be at the end of the month. Regardless, I did not contact them and just waited for the early August batch of ILs
  11. I happened to be just missed in the batch of interview letters that went out in April so I ended up being the longest between DW and IL.
  12. I just quickly summarized the same rationale that was in my petition. That was the advice my attorney gave me and the immigration officer just nodded in response. Best to mention your proposed endeavour in the US and the work you do and everything should be fine.
  13. Typo in the second last paragraph. Instead of other I meant nothing is close to expiry.
  14. They just asked why I am of national interest to the US and what my highest level of education is. Also asked where we currently live. At the end they asked when we would be moving and that’s when the agent mentioned the lack of visas. He said we could keep them too but it would delay the process. We chose to leave them to make it as quick as possible. I asked if there would be any other delays due to extra investigations or security checks. He told me all of the documents I provided are fine and other is close to expiry so that everything else looked good. Both agents were very friendly and I also saw a new agent watching at the first window as part of their training.
  15. Category: EB2 NIW Priority Date: April 18, 2022 DQ Date: January 31, 2023 Interview Letter Received: August 7, 2024 Interview Date: September 16, 2024 We had our interview today and everything already mentioned by others was the same. We were rejected only because there are no more EB2 visas available this fiscal year which runs until the end of September. The agent said they will hold our passports and adjudicate it on October 1 once the new fiscal year starts and more visas are available. So not officially approved but almost approved. Others in the EB2 category will likely encounter the same lack of visas response if your interview is in September.
  16. The US now has the new variant COVID 19 vaccine available. If possible, drive to a Walgreens or CVS across the border to get it. You can book an appointment online and it may still be free for anyone who doesn't have private health insurance. We have ours scheduled for this Friday and will bring the CDC vaccination card to the medical exam. We were going to get it at Shoppers but they cancelled our appointment last week due to the recall in Ontario.
  17. Montreal website updated: https://ca.usembassy.gov/embassy-consulates/consular-operations-updates/ EB up to August 2023.
  18. The interview letter already has the interview date and the interview is already scheduled. You only need to register the immigrant visa appointment now which includes picking the delivery of your passport after the visa is issued.
  19. A verbal confirmation is sufficient as well if you had chickenpox.
  20. Congrats to everyone who received an interview letter today! It is really great to see two batches in one month after such a trickle for the past 1.5 years.
  21. I have question about the interview especially from those that have already had their interviews in Montreal. Our case includes our daughter who is under 14 years old. When I registered the interviews, I had to register my daughter's as well. However, the US Department of State website states that any children under 14 are not to attend the interview but that some consulates/embassies may welcome the whole family. We are planning on bringing our daughter but if she is not allowed to entered, we have no one to leave her with or to watch her. Question: Did anyone have an interview and either bring, or see others bring, their children under 14 years of age? 22. Updates out on the Montreal website and in line with what we have seen for employment visas:
