When I filed my I-751, I just sent in updated evidence showing that the marriage is still bona fide after 2 years i.e. recent taxes filed together, updated bank statements, updated health/car insurance etc. The whole point of filing the I-751 is to make sure the marriage is still ongoing after the conditional GC was issued. Probably the only thing from my previous GC application that I added to my I-751 package was a copy of my marriage certificate lol. You don't have to at all and probably a lot of people don't but personally, I had no problem giving it to them again because it doesn't hurt giving them the most important document that proves your marriage lol. Mine has that "Certificate Of Naturalization Was Issued" case status but it also has a little notation at the top that says "Case Closed." Seeing that Case Closed is very rewarding lol. Congrats on naturalizing! It's the best! 😀

What a wild immigration journey! You have the patience of a saint lol. File under the 5 year rule - more straightforward, less burden, and you don't have to prove up your marriage again. Hopefully your N-400 doesn't take so long! Good luck!

I filed for my I-751 June 2019 Filed my N-400 October 2020. Had a combo interview October 2022 Had my oath ceremony a little less than 2 weeks after my interview It's still taking quite a while for the majority. People who get their I-751 approved after 3-4 months are definitely the minority and weirdly lucky lol.

I filed it myself with no lawyer. Just make sure to submit new evidence to prove that your marriage is still bona fide and pay really close attention to detail and you should be fine! Good luck!

It does say that U.S. citizen children ages 15 and under can enter back into the U.S. with their naturalization certificate but not anywhere does it say that adults can. Personally, I wouldn't risk it but to each their own. Be prepared for a very hard time with CBP. They don't play around lol. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Did you bring your spouse with you to the FO? Knowing that you had a pending I-751 I hope your spouse was there. Then the IO could have done a combo interview with you both since he had your I-751 file on hand. In my case, I had just my N-400 interview scheduled but nothing was mentioned about my pending I-751. I still brought my spouse with me anyways since I knew I had a pending I-751 on file. Had a combo interview with my husband and was approved for both on the spot. If you did bring your spouse, perhaps the IO had a busy interviewing schedule that day and couldn't fit in your i-751 interview. Hopefully you aren't called in for a separate I-751 interview with your spouse and that the evidence you provided was sufficient enough so that the interview can be waived. I'm just concerned about your biometrics being scheduled in that week that you're gone if you file now (if it's not waived but you never know if it's going to be waived or not). If you're in no major rush, personally I would wait until like a week before your trip, file it, then enjoy your week long trip and not have to worry about your bio or interview being scheduled until after your trip is done. Yes, the risk of filing now and getting a biometrics or interview within 6 weeks is low but if you can't postpone or cut your trip short than Idk if that's a risk I would take. My husband and I got married at city hall with just my grandma present and had our bigger wedding celebration a year later. I included both pictures from our city hall wedding and big wedding celebration when I filed my I-751. Fast forward to my combo interview which was on October 2022, the IO who interviewed me and my husband asked me when our wedding was and of course I said our city hall wedding date. I didn't do this mistake but make sure you don't confuse the two dates! Afterwards, the IO was asking us about trips we took together and my husband mentioned that one of the trips we took was for our "big wedding" (since our big wedding celebration was an out-of-town wedding) and the IO just smiled. Didn't ask any follow up questions about it. I was approved on the spot for my I-751 and N-400! You'll be fine but like what others have previously mentioned, don't use the term "remarried". Oh trust me! I 100% agree that the whole system is broken. Until there's some serious reform within USCIS (which I unfortunately don't see happening anytime soon), that's the way it's going to be and it's terrible that we all have to just live with it.

Unfortunately USCIS is not a fan of rescheduling interviews due to travel purposes. I've seen a lot of people asking VJ if they should reschedule their interview for travel and the consensus from others was always don't do it. This might be an uphill battle. I probably would just refile. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

What was the reason for why you had to reschedule? I don't think I saw that. Just because you request for a reschedule does not mean you are going to get it. It's under USCIS's discretion. Unfortunately there are some reasons that are insufficient, in USCIS's eyes, for an interview reschedule. For example if it's just because you couldn't get the day off of work that's not going to fly with USCIS and their denial will stand to the end of time and there's no point in fighting it and refiling might be the better option.

Those people probably just had straight forward N-400 cases and didn't have a pending I-751. When the I-751 is attached, there are more moving parts thus meaning it will probably take longer to adjudicate than just having a N-400. Your time will come! Good luck!

You can try to reschedule but like someone previously mentioned, there is no guarantee that your request will be granted. It might just be a waste of time. Also, during the interviews they will ask your daughters if either of their parents are U.S citizens. It will be helpful to their cases if you naturalize before their interviews so that they can answer that at least you are a USC now. During my interview, the IO asked if my parents were U.S citizens and I told her that they are now since they naturalized the year before me. I guess she looked it up on her computer to confirm and she nodded her head. I don't know if one of the reasons of me passing my interview on the spot was because of that but it sure was helpful! You can try to put in a request but it's totally up to USCIS if they're going to do that or not. I read a thread that someone sent in a request in their oath rescheduling letter and they didn't care. Like what I said, it doesn't hurt to try but also have a back up plan if it doesn't go your way. Good luck!

I was in the same boat as you. Had a pending I-751. Had a notice for the N-400 interview. Prepared for my interview just like if it was going to be a combo interview though which it was. Was approved on the spot for both cases and was naturalized less than 2 weeks later. Good luck!

Sounds similar to my case lol! I got the oath taking ceremony letter saying that my green card was approved but I'm not getting a 10-year green card since I'm getting my naturalization certificate instead which is obviously a million times better lol! Had a combo interview also and my husband was also allowed to stay for the N-400 portion. Even my IO was joking with us about it saying to my husband, "Don't tell her any answers" while smiling lol. I have heard so many horror stories about terrible IOs but I was so lucky that my IO was so easygoing and made me comfortable. Sounds like your wife was lucky too! 🙂

File your I-751. You have to file to remove conditions up to 90 days before your 2 year green card expires. If it's already beyond that, I would add a cover letter with your I-751 application as to why you're filing late.

Congrats! My I-751 was also filed in 2019. June 2019. Did a combo interview like you, as well. Became a naturalized U.S citizen November 2022. We both had long journeys with our I-751s so I totally get it. You're almost at the finish line and not having to deal with USCIS anymore woo hoo! 🎉

It really depends on your FO and how busy it is. I heard it can take up to 90 days after your failed interview for them to reschedule a new one.

Like what others are saying, I would file the N-400 if your wife is eligible. I was in the same boat, as you. Filed my I-751 back in June 2019. Heard nothing about an interview and knew my file was collecting dust somewhere. Filed my N-400 on October 2020 and have now been naturalized. I-751s, for the most part, tend to be on the lower end of their priorities. Filing the N-400 can hopefully move along your I-751 finally. Good luck!

Filed my I-751 June 2019 and it was finally approved along with my N400 late October 2022 after a combo interview. I naturalized in early November 2022. I believe me filing my N400 gave a kickstart to my I751 which was collecting dust in who knows where lol. Unfortunately, I-751s just take forever for a lot of people since they are on the low end of USCIS's priorities. Hang in there! Your time is coming! 🙂

Wow, that's crazy! We all know that I-751 cases are very low in USCIS's priority list at the moment. If this happens, hopefully USCIS will finally prioritize I-751 cases then. Unlikely but one can only hope lol. I'm so glad I'm done with all this. I wish everyone going through this the best of luck! 🙏
